I changed oil on my new 2024 Silverado 2.7l and the filter I took off is exactly like the new one you bought. I bought a new PF66 from Wal-Mart and is was exactly the same as the filter I removed.
The newer E core filters actually flow better than the previous metal core design. I never go past 5K on my turbo engine so I would use any of these filters and still sleep good at night. I think you run in to problems with turbocharged engines with extended drain intervals more than anything else.
I had really good luck with a WIX oil filter on my old 4.8l Silverado for many years. My buddy is a mechanic and he cut open several brands at the time and we discovered the WIX had the most filtering capacity. Don't know if that is still the case but they used to be very solid. I have been looking at the 2.7 l trucks recently thinking that might be my next purchase. I like that the AFM on these appears to be a better design than the 8 cylinders with it. Makes me miss the old vortec motors, simplicity and reliability. Thanks for the video.
Generally I'd stick with what GM recomends and use the AC Delco. Outside of that Ive used a lot of Mobil 1 filters on many cars/trucks with no problems. I can always get them for a reasonable price at Walmart.
The microgard select is a great filter. I think your observations are correct especially when wix has had numerous ownership challenges lately. The microgard is built like a tank. Great filter

In case anyone is wondering the Microguard Select is the same as the STP XL which I am running on my truck right now.

Honestly I’d recommend using the Wix filter on your Silverado!
Dealer put mine on. Noticed it was the same pf 66 but part number is totally diff then the other 3 pf66 model numbers. Must be another update.

Microgard select is a pretty good filter, fram ultra does filter very good. Not a fan of ac delco. But what I use is either wix xp or purelator boss.
