Pressure wash the bottom of your truck, make sure it's dry, then apply 2 coats of anti-rust spray paint at 6-8 inches, the reason for the distance is so it's finely aerosol density which allows it to penetrate the metal better. After two coats if you want you can apply direct brush applications of rust paint to problem areas That's all under body coatings are, anti-rust spraypaint. The "Expensive packages" are just anti-rust spraypaint mixed with/and a coating of rubberized coating like you put in the back of a flatbed etc
I have 122,000 on a 2021 Silverado with the 2.7 and the only problem I had was the catalytic converter went bad at 114,000. Other than that it runs great.
Thank you for watching! I love this little 2.7l Turbo. That is a bummer about the catalytic converter. Did you happen to have an injector failure at the same time or was it isolated to the Cat?
@@jeremsgarage Just the cat…no other problems whatsoever. I change oil every 5,000 with mobile one. It’s had a noisy on start up cam phaser but it’s been like that since new. Actually an impressive little engine.
Seems like you live in the South judging from the underside of your truck. Purchase a can of fluid film or surface shield and hit the bare areas of your frame and you'll be fine.
I’ve been watching your videos for a while I use the royal purple it might be a little shy of the 6 quarts when it comes out. One thing I started doing was using a dolly with a piece of plywood on it and putting my drain pan on top its closer to the drain and I’ve noticed I haven’t been getting any oil on me . Try that maybe you can cut down on the spraying you been getting. 👍🏻
Hearing your long start up makes me feel that maybe this is normal ??? I only hear that when I check my oil level on my 2.7 gmc and some times when I do the oil change (used royal purple from the first oil change & it currently has 110k+ miles) and I change it every 5k
Thanks for another great video. I was just thinking (scary, i know)....have you thought about doing some Repairs, Mods & Upgrades types of videos regarding your travel trailer? Perhaps you already have. Good night.
Thanks for Watching! You know, I've been intending on doing more travel trailer videos. Time to get off my duff and get it done. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@jeremsgarageI think these direct injection engines consume oil by default. My 2.7 consumes about a quart every 3000 miles. Not bad but I don't think that Valvoline is going make a difference in these.
@@msclecarcrzy yes! I bought mine at Walmart! I do have a link to a similar one in the video description but this one from Walmart is great! Thank you for watching!

I get my truck Krown coated no issues so far. Good luck!
I enjoyed the video Jarem you gave me some good tips, and thanks for the end of the video, we need more of that.

I as well use Blaster's Surface shield. Seems to stay on better than fluid film, even through Pennsylvania winters.
Thanks for the Scripture and prayer at the end! That was needed!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Whatever the black stuff on the frame of my 2014 2.7l Custom you can almost wipe off with a rage. Is is soft like play doh.
Thanks for the video.
The long Crank happens every time you open and close the hood then remote start. try it you will see what i am talking about.

Direct injection engines will consume some oil, my VW ran perfectly but consumed almost a quart per 1000miles. Which is normal according to the manual
I use surface shield on my 18 Silverado works great!watch repair geek videos
Surface shield.....what i use for the beach and ny weather😊
Thank you for letting me know.

try cosmoline for undercoating
Thanks! I’ll look into it!

lanolin based undercoating only! woolwax or similar...
Thanks for the suggestion!
You really should switch to valvoline restore and protect will help with oil consumption
Thanks for the suggestion. I've got over 1 million miles on SuperTech oil with no issues. But I could be convinced.

find out what the military uses for under coating

What trim is this?
@@cmiller4567 it’s a Custom, but it’s the only one I have ever seen with full steering wheel controls.
@@jeremsgarage yeah same. That's what made me curious. My one gripe about the current customs is their poor trip computer and the knob to control it.
