There are so many films, including this one, spoiled by music which is louder than the dialogue. For the hard of hearing, like me , it is a problem. I caught so many words, but without subtitles I can't say for sure what this film was about. It would be nice if film makers considered everyone in their audience, rather than a select number.

Yes, agreed. There was sufficient to provoke thought in the theme, without the attempt to provide unnecessary 'drama' by the intrusion of this music. And I say this as someone whose hearing is at a normal level.

I must think this short through. Forty years in space, jumping through a wormhole, coming across a "wall", which she entered, finding a second "earth" (I am surmising), then she returned back to Earth? I lost track when the panel spoke of meeting family and friends, and how she was getting on with them. None of her family would still be alive, and she would be over 100 years old. Did she not return to the original Earth, but landed on the planet she discovered? Was it Earth from another dimension? Were the interviewers from that Earth? Help! I am so confused.

Unfortunately I failed to understand the point of the short. Too many questions with no answers. 'Nothing' is exactly what I get from it.
Did the planet they found end up being where she is now?
      What is the wall?
      Why is she being interviewed?
Was she blinded from the light? It looked like the returned astronaut was just older, not blind.
What about the little thing called time dilation?
Just far too many questions and no answers, "nothing" at all.

Why are so many of the comments on Dust shorts the same, particularly the early comments. "This should be a feature length movie". "I want more". etc. It's like it's some sort of bots trying to talk up every movie. This seems like the someone's outline of a story with a little visualization to go with it. It didn't actually feel like a story to me.

I think you missed some key points in what they said, maybe just watch it again. They said multiple times that she spent 40 years in space, she became the youngest astronaut at 28. Why would she be over 100? Nobody said she is... She returned to her Earth, there's really no indication about the planet that she visited or if that's another dimension but I don't think they're trying to explain that.

there are some clues. the furniture is not modern, the office is not well lit, and the tape recorder is an older model. It's as if she landed at a much earlier time than when she left for space. She went blind because of the darkness (nothing) in space. She has no thoughts and feelings towards what she experienced (nothing).

Good story but poorly balanced audio. When the music "swells" to portray emotion or significance you miss what is said. She was very soft spoken and much of it was drowned out. You turn up the quiet parts to hear, and then are blasted with loud music again.

This is typical audio issues for ALL of Dust's offerings... complaining about it doesn't work... believe me that along with other commenters and myself, complaining & appealing for Dust's audio engineers, program supervisors and technical support staffers to fix their audio sound problems, fails to yield any response or solutions... this has gone on for years now.

The mix of the film is mostly intended to be watched in theaters which is the reason for a larger dynamic range, hence the big differences between the quiet parts and loud ones. It will probably be for the best experience to have a a good pair of headphones ;)

hmm from reading the comments i godda say: i had ZERO difficulty in hearing the dialog and understanding what was going on.... seems like some people just like to complain about mundane things, and some OTHERS like to just agree to feel a sense of BELONGING. it's a piece of video art, get over yourselves. this is a MIND BLOWING concept alone with potential for SO much. VERY WELL DONE DUS another SMASH HIT! in my opinion 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 because one thumb up is not enough 😉😉

Why can't we have some sci-fi concerning the saving of this planet Earth instead of always running away from the problems we create on this our home. These running away documentaries are a documentation of just how foolish we humans are. 73% of this planet is yet to be explored.

This needs subtitles. "That's where we found ???" Life? "How's your life since you got back? Any gyerdikisher?" Nfi what that guy was saying there. How is her mother alive? What the fuck is this even about? It's clear the filmmakers were trying to say something but it's impossible to tell what.

The point of this short is subtle but enormous. "Nothing" refers to the torment of contrasting success in endeavor, scentific in this example, and the life dedicated to it's pursuit; and the lost opportunity to have a life of one's own. The telling point is where the protagonist makes the statement, "I enjoyed meeting my friend's children" - those words gives rise to the only emotion she's willing to portray to the panel of interviewers, one of bitter regret. For the rest she only feels nothing - hence the repeated, candid response.
To have succeeded so well to ensure humanities survival as a species, honored and celebrated the world over - but for what? To do so to the detriment, to the nullification of her own lineage, gives rise to the question, "Why did I save them all, if there will be nothing left of me and mine?" There is no sweetness to salve a wound like this, hence, "Nothing" indeed.
The cloudy eyes are a strong metaphor, though nothing is mentioned of her sight being affected. Somewhat poetically: Eyes clouded, there's nothing left to see if there's nothing left of me.
An extremely individualistic sentiment to carry, and should appeal to anyone living in the modern age. 4 stars.
