In the middle of this amazing book
Sams bangs look so good. I could never.
She inspired me to get my bangs cut!
Sam also has pretty eyes!
I feel this so hard
I heard that Starbucks got rid of the mugs that say "Merry Russell Ballard Day". We truly are in the last days.
Brilliant!!!🙌
@@Kalama_Llama_King_Kong Thankyou, you've just made me laugh out loud
Just had a flash back to the gem of a movie called “Johnny Lingo.” A reaction to that would be everything.
we’re 100% in
Omg i loved that one as a poc but would probs be horrified at the Mormon “pearls of wisdom” I forgot
I asked my mom about a video I grew up watching with all sorts of indigenous and cultural dances and she replied “oh that’s lamanite nation, of course we can rewatch it” ….and…my exmo ass never brought it up again lol
Hahahahaha Johnny lingo omg I forgot
I really can't wait!!! How many cows was it again? It was my favorite church video hands down
Though darkness may threaten my soul to slay, I shalt find holy deliverance in M. Russell Ballard day 😔🙏
So sometimes the prophets are wrong, but sometimes they're right, so you have to follow them 100% of the time? Doesn't add up.
Something everyone should know about words of the prophets and revelations: "60% of the time it works every time!"
I recently confronted my mormon parents about how many apostles and prophets have spoken on the "evils of homosexuality" and they were just like "prophets are people too" ok so then what makes them any different than anyone else???
False prophets telling us to not follow false prophets... Done! I won't listen to a damn thing the Mormon church says!
“The conditions of the world has never been better.”
Well, that’s depressing
feel this
I love this channel and I want everything Tanner wears. I'm a 75 year old female pensioner ex-Mormon from South Africa 🇿🇦 but a girl can still dream can't she?
We are the "watchman on the tower"
It sounds so nobel yet, what is today's version of it so we can relate?
A security guard.
So, ppl of the earth, listen to the us, the mall security guards (and h.s. janitors) we are the light of the world!
The writing's on the wall. The church is getting away from claiming to be the one truth, or that there is a God of miracles or even that God has one true prophet. It's super subtle but there. It's now, "The church doesn't have a monopoly on truth, we need to promote interfaith." & "Do you have the faith not to be healed?" or "God works on a different timeline and it may be in the next life you get your prayers answered." And I've seen articles by the church calling Russ N not a prophet but a "Global faith leader"? In this age of recording the church is coming to grips that God is very shy.
Exactly!!
Now just a holey Profit? Insider Kovud trading with their stocks, or just CONflict of interest Propheting big time from Kovud? That kind of "foresight" commands a Profit! Nobuddy will touch this one.
Video is just starting BUT I wanted to start by saying that you both are glowing and look stunning today ♡ appreciate you guys so much
"Oh boy I sure do enjoy being mormon ^^ I hope I don't research anything wacky and uncharacteristic about its history"
"STOP DIDDLING YOURSELF AND GIVE US MONEY!"
"Oh gosh! Oh my heck!"
holy flip
Elder Ballard came to my mission and yelled at everyone.
drop the tea hon
*fake shocked face*
"pale" is an old word meaning poll or fence, or by extension, boundary. We don't use it much in modern English except in the phrase "beyond the pale" or "outside the pale," meaning beyond the boundary.
You guys have always brought joy to my day. Thank you.
My mothers explanation is often “well you know some of the prophets were just less than inspired”. Jesus the leaps in the brain she has to make.
false teachers is just the plot of school of rock
oh my god i was literally gonna say that during the vid lol

You’re right, Ballard is such a bland, boring apostle/manager.
Remember, Ballard is the guy who prayed about whether or not he should be an Edsel dealer. He claims he was impressed not to, but he did anyway, almost driving his business to ruin. So, one of two things is possible:
1. He is a vessel of revelation, but he's bad at telling if it's from god until longer after the fact.
2. He just had a gut feeling.
Either way, I'm not sure we should listen to his live god updates when he can't follow them himself.
An Edsel dealership is the perfect analogy for the LDS church!!!
I'm just now heading face first into apostasy. You both are a great reference, as to arguments my TBM husband will put forth. I adore your sense of humor about "difficult " subject matter. Thanks for putting yourselves out here!
do you ever find yourself falling into your old beliefs? - Like even for a second? Or has that been something that goes away over time?
that hasn’t been our experience though we know it’s somewhat common among people who leave high demand religions. the more we understand how the world actually works and who we actually are, we become less and less depend on those immaculate and often harmful structures.
It def goes away with time! Purity culture affects me sometimes even though I’m a exmo for 10 years and work in a sexual health organization lol. Just believe in yourself and do what YOU want to do. Personal revelation right? ;)
If you included affiliate links to Tanner’s wardrobe, I would buy many of the things he owns!! Consider it please 🙏
It’s hard because he thrifts everything!
@@ZelphOntheShelf Of course he does! I have honestly spent time trying to find similar clothing because I love the look. Well if he does buy things and you can share a link, I would more than likely buy it. Just looking for ways to support the content I love watching!
“The smiths will F ya”
I missed y’all! It’s my fault, I’ve been waiting for a good time in my life to get into Charly and am excited to get into the fun that entails!
Also! The makeup and hair on both of you is such a slay!!! Inspo :)
I always thought “UA-cam unsubscribing people” was kind of a joke but I was subbed and had notifications on but was unsubbed when I clicked on this video. 😳
Nooooooooo
Tanner, your eyebrows speak very persuasively 😂
Farm Boy Sinestro
He's slowly becoming a hipster Volcun.
i love that ur phone cases match
Besides having the right genealogy, Idk what qualifications Ballard has in being a “theological” leader. Has he gone to divinity school? Does he have a degree in religious studies? Graduate training in philosophy?
Bingo
Realistically, it’s because he towed the line. The church would tell you “the lord doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies the called.” Or some horseshit like that.
Watching them zone out when the other is reading is highly satisfying because, same.
I’m really enjoying this insight into this cult. Ty 💚
I love you two! Tanner singing was just what I needed today. Thanks for the bonus video! ❤️
"Even faithful members will fall to the teachings of false prophets"
The apostles who haven't seen Jesus and think they'll be the next prophet: "I hope."
Ballard is just the latest member of the Smith family to be senior leaders in the Church. His grandfathers were apostles. Joseph F. Smith put two of his sons in the Quorum of the Twelve, one of whom was Hyrum Mack Smith aka Ballard’s grandpa.
Oh and as both Nelson and Oaks are in the FP, Ballard is Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve. I don't think he will ever be the Prophet, but he's pretty connected.
Nepotism ftw
Wait so Hyrum (the city) is named after Ballard's grandpa?
It's ruining my hometown even more :(
@@shumshai wikipedia says Hyrum is named after Hyrum, Joseph Smith’s Brother. So, Ballard’s Great-Great-Grandfather.
He knows he won't ever be president so it feels like the church just wants to kiss his arse... the egos of these men.
Sam: “See you in 20 years Rusty!” Me: quickly calculating if it is realistic for me to still be alive to see the mental gymnastics that it will take to explain the homophobic policies. I’ll be here and bring the popcorn.
Im watching this on New Year’s Eve, eating kbbq in a cup and drinking grape soju. Partying it up by myself lol
Oh hell yes
lol, I rewound Tanner doing the "oh yes prophet's right" nod over three times..I think you guys should make a meme out of that. It's like cookie monster saying that phrase or Grover...LOL :D
love the editing in this
On the topic of "signs of the last days" when they are just events that happen all the time: we tend to think that events like Pompeii were so so long ago and they will never happen again. They were flukes of the past, but they can and statistically speaking will happen in the future eventually. In a way, the events are happening now/recently and news media does a poor job or reporting/spreading the word.
But Pompeii and volcanoes especially give me existential dread.
Fun fact! Did you know that there's always an earthquake happening, because the plates of the earth are always moving.. Most of them are just so small, that you don't notice them or feel them. There is an earthquake app you can download and it will notify you of an earthquake every time it happens! I used it before, but got rid of it eventually because it got really annoying seeing the notifications pop up all the time. Anyway, why do I bring this up? Because it's so ridiculous that they use these "signs" for the second coming. We went through 2 world wars already and he still hasn't come.
Yeah! Bonus video!💙
disappointed it wasn't Russell Brand day :(
Every day is Russell Brand day in my house
@@personofinterest8731 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 love this whole comment section tbh
Love you guys!
Didn't Joseph Fielding prophesy that we would never land on the moon?
edit: damn, I gotta remember to watch the whole episode first
He stupidly did so and lived yo see himself disproven lol
"Beware of false prophets" - a false prophet
The irony of "beware of false prophets" when they ARE the false prophets
Wars and rumors of wars!
Sweet can we call Joseph Smith all the way to Nelson a false prophets?
I was bringing up some problems with the church and my mom was like, but it wasn’t doctrine and I was like haha you should read the original printing of your Mormon Doctrine book hahah silly mom
Car dealer is a perfect preparation for LDS Church leadership.
Sam’s makeup combined with Tanner’s hair is what I aspire to emulate
Here too. Wish I could get sideburns like Tanner's but oh well
Great video! Mormonism is "prosperity gospel" at it's finest. Where can I pick up a copy of Cosmomormon? Would love to see some discussion on the articles contained therein.
For a non-Charly episode, that was pretty good
It totally is great, but I hope there's a Charly video this week too because I'm in suspense. 🤣🤣
hearing talks like this now it absolutely baffles me how I ever found them to be inspiring or spiritual at all, they're so dull and don't actually have any insight about anything, like human empathy who?
Loved this video!! Could you recommend me a documentary/book/podcast about cults? I feel like you two are the perfect people to ask this
there are so many good documentaries:
Wild Wild Country
Going Clear
Holy Hell
The Vow
Seduced
The Family
“ Some people are so poor all they have is money,” Bob Marley.
In Jesus' day, apocalyptic preachers named Yeshua were a dime a dozen, very similar to today.
Haha, my dumbass read that as "Russell Brand" and I was thinking Wow this spirituality thing he's got going has really taken another turn.
The book of Revelation is not about the end of the world. Most theologians believe that they were talking about the persecution that early Christians were experiencing around the time that it was written. They did not have freedom of speech or press then, so they used a metaphorical story to explain and offer hope to people because they did believe that Jesus would be returning soon.
Also, most people fail to understand the scripture that it is easier for a camel to get through the Eye of a Needle than a rich man to go to Heaven. The Eye of the Needle is a narrow gateway that led into Jerusalem. Due to the way camels are packed (with burdens to either side) one cannot get through the gateway, unless one removes all of the burdens from the camel. So the story isn't suggesting that rich people are "evil", it, rather, suggests, that someone who has more burdens has a more difficult time moving forward and letting go. This is the problem with reading scripture without doing historical and cultural study. The stories were written by people in a specific part of the world who had different understandings of the world than we do now. We can't read it with just our own views in mind, and expect to have the same level of understanding as the original authors intended.
Y’all are so funny 💗
the mormon church has a lot of experience with false prophets.
FYI: A "pale" is a fence or enclosure. Something "beyond the pale" is outside of your fence or border.
3:35 yes, Tanner!! Those were my exact words a month ago when my husband and I were engaging in our regular Mormon deconstruction 😉
I’m not looking this up…but I totally thought he got a day because he WAS the Leader of the Apostles. I swear Sam asked that and Tanner agreed.
Joseph F Smith, remember the "F" 😂😂😂
got an ad promoting mormon missionaries on this video lmao
glad some of the church’s budget is going to us
unlearning economics has a new video about that pinkerton guy
I love you guys 😗
Hey I love your content! But uhh... speaking of false prophets, I highly recommend the video "The Cruel Optimism of Steven Pinker" by We're In Hell.
Someone else commented that and I think I already have a sense for what it’s gonna talk about. I have some “yikes” around Pinker and the way people in certain schools of thought use his ideas! Will watch it today. :)
Sam
It's only Tuesday!
This guy is very aesthetic pleasing
Sending a man on a mission so you can marry his wife is scripturally relevant. See David and Bathsheeba.
All the upvotes for "They will find Quakers on the Moon, Jeff Bezos will find them!"
!!!!! I missed you guys!
(I know you’re posting regularly and I mostly survived 2 seasons of Provo bachelor with you, but my survivability rate for Charly is like, -3)
“Name a time in human history without the consequences of human tragedy”
I MEAN
👁it’s easier to scratch my ears with my long satanic claws :)👁
It’s true he has very nice hands
The fuck does “the perfection of the Saints” even mean
“That we all come together in the perfection of the world” is what I want out of entering a glory hole as the entertainment 😊
Adding to my secular gnostic lore interests that God is never gonna put jesus back in, because the humanity he felt through Jesus scared the living shit outta him 😂💀
I feel like most human people have a higher prophecy success rate than Joseph smith
But think about all the prophecies that the "general authorities" HAVE gotten right . . . like . . . well. Like . . . well, there's . . . well. Aaaa . . . oh, I guess they've generally missed the boat on this stuff. But whichever side of any issue you might be on, people tend to believe what they want to believe, and ignore everything else. "Man hears what he wants to hear, and disregards the rest . . . " Paul Simon, THE BOXER.
Paul Simon 4eva!!!!
Deuteronomy 18:20-22 clearly says that if someone speaks in the name of the Lord and that prophecy does not come true, that prophet must die.... many religions and organisations that claim they have the "truth" fail this scripture. Jehovah Witnesses are the worse. I am so grateful I only was a mormon as it was easier to leave and be inactive.
*Fridee* - Every apostle ever.
16:56 John Hinckley Jr was the prophet?? 😂
Love how people use the "Beware of false prophets" line. Instead of just bewaring of anyone calling themselves prophets. Because it isn't actually real.
great point
tanner is so pretty omffffffff
Dont mind me just signal boosting ☝️☝️☝️
