Oh hell, this was my first graphics card that I bought IIRC, that exact sort of PNY model. Terrible little thing that introduced me to the concept that you don't always get what you pay for.
This reminded me of the very first card I've owned, the mighty mx 440! Ofecours, when I've found out that is absolutely nothing mighty about, I've started overclocking it with rage. To my surprise, it started to actually be fast, at least on the Midnight Club game. It was a lot of fun, pushing the card and the car at the same time...
Dude, Socket, I was one of the comments featured in your original GT 730 review. I thought this video would've been from that era but NOPE! Mister Sanctuary, you've certainly kept your finger on the pulse of your fan base. Well done man, welllllll done
Nice work! It's a great feeling to be on the 3DMark leader board. I had the highest Firestrike score for the Ryzen 5 3400G for a while, but I was dethroned pretty quickly haha.
I seem to be a little late to the party but just wanted to say this was an amazing video, very informative and I learnt a few things, subscribed and looking forward to watching more content. Keep it up 👍
You come back in style, tease so much good stuff just to post GT 730 😭😭 In all seriousness that's one hell of a good video and it's good to see it being pushed this far
Messed about a while back with Nvidia inspector, mostly with a 8500 gt ddr2 version. 459 mhz core & 369 mhz memory too 730 mhz core & 420 mhz memory stable in 3dmark 03 - 06, didnt bother trying newer on this old card. Got pretty good boost in performance & kept cool with a accelero l2 pro cooler i salvaged off a old dead xfx HD 5750 512 mb card i got for free with a 1155 z77 motherboard 4x4 gb ram & locked I5 2500 in late 2017, the HD 5750 is I'd guess is among the last higher performance graphics cards of the era with less then 768 mb memory, which a cut down gtx 460 had around the same time.
I had a gt 440 for a long time and overclock it like hell. I think I pushed it to almost double the clock without increased voltage. But it needed various additional coolers. I have to dust it of and test it again someday.
Cool. I would have never thought to even attempt to OC this old card. I recently purchased 40 dell optiplex 3020 machines for $15 each from a local school sale. They all have 16gb of 1600mhz, 4th gen i5's and PNY GT 730 1gb gddr5. So now I have 40 of these. Perhaps I will sacrifice a few of them and try to beat your score 😜
I got this to upgrade my Dell Optiplex 990 SFF with Intel HD Graphics 2000. It's okay for older PC tbh, I'm playing L4D2 multiplayer now with 80fps rather than 20-30fps with Intel HD Graphics.
I have a GK208 64 bit DDR3 model, so that isn't going to break any records I guess any memory overclock on it may give a greater return as the existing memory bandwidth is a miserly 14.4 GB/s It's also a passive model!
That is very true. Despite the over 50% overclock the actual performance increase was only between 30-40% and that was nearly all due to the ram not scaling with the core. The memory bandwidth on this card is the bottleneck in most situations and the GDDR3 variant suffers the most from this unfortunately.
I actually had that card too before my 4 GB GDDR5 variety, which I didn't even know existed till I found it in a pre built. Still I could play GTA 5 and Black Ops 3 at the time I used it.
It was a small upgrade from a HD5670, now serving as my test card... might end up putting it in an "EBAY Gaming computer with FAST NVIDIA Graphics" - slap enough RGB in it to increase the FPS
I realize this was a bit of a project just for fun but in light of the CB2k77 results, I would find it interesting to see the results of a few other games, not necessarily new or even newish ones. Just hammer it, how about Crysis? OG and/or reboot. Metro 2033 Redux. Civ VI. Y'know different things.
I found a new gainward GT730 2gb ddr5 for 30€. It was selling for 55€, apparently my offer was deemed worthy xD now I hope I can overclock it a bit for my brother in law, waiting for a gaming gpu bargain next year (now we can’t seem to see the light anytime soon).
Reminds me of the time I tried to push a GT 640 as far as it could possibtly go using a cooler off of an old Pentium PC I had found. You had a lot more luck than I did though! Wow that is one fast 730. Well... Relatively speaking.
Probably better value for your money getting a used gtx 6 series gpu at that point like a gtx 660 or similar as those still have driver support i believe for a while longer, otherwise 900 series on nvidias side are a safe bet. I myself would have kept using my r9 280 if it hadn't died in August of this year after 5.5 years of probably near daily use including my dad leaving his pc on with the game still running for 2 weeks while he was on vacation, y know just no one home while his pc pulls 300w from the wall, old phenom II x6 1090t in his pc overclocked & r9 280 has a 250w tdp. (Fps limiter does wonders too longevity even as the pcb bent from lack of a gpu brace in both his & my system.) Had some money saved up for clothes & new shoes, ended up buying a 1660 super for 279 usd as an open box return right at the end of September & got it October 4th normal price would have been 336 usd so i suppose its a blessing in disguise i bought it at that point. I still need clothes but just shoes needed really with how this winter is going, like -5 celsius so far in Sweden that's been the coldest in my area & snow hasn't stayed on the ground for more then a few hours perhaps, pretty much Autumn weather outside still.
I have a ddr3 EVGA gt 730, 1gb. Perhaps I can tweak this thing to a good value I'm just worried because it has no fan, I think it will burn haha, I'll have to keep an eye on it
Hello! Thank you for your video! I followed all of your guide but when I tried opening Dota 2, in a few minutes the game closes. What could I possibly have done wrong?

I got it for like 40 bucks and it's done decent for me so far, atleast I can play CSGO and Minecraft with no problems
I bought this (pny geforce gt 730) and it runs Minecraft at 200 fps no problem.

Very nice! My first card I ever bought was an mx 440 as well, by a defunct AIB called "Mad Dog".

The GT 730 is a great card if you can find one for a decent price. Too bad that there are so many different versions which is very confusing.

I still have the leaderboard for the R5 240 OEM with 1300mhz on core (+475mhz) and 1350mhz on memory (350mhz)
It just sucks that to grab a ddr5 730 on ebay, costs about twice what the card is worth today. Damn this gpu market.
