They were so great together! Steve is still with us in 2021 is 86 now, sadly with Alzheimers and Eydie died in 2013 at age 84, they have both lived wonderfully long lives. She was 7 years older than Steve; such a talented lovely couple, Thanks for this video, this is what I love you tube for, memories.
These two were made to be with each other both personally and professionally. What a great combination of blending two voices together to produce an absolutely incredible sound. There will never be another couple who knew how to entertain better than these two.
Steve & Eydie OMG perfection doing fantastic Gershwin Medley, both amazing singers in sublime form showing great singing & performing at Master Class level!
This was great. You could tell the love they had for one another. Steve always looked at her so lovingly. What a couple! RIP Eydie. You are missed especially by Steve and David.
So sad to hear the passing of Steve Lawrence.....Saw him and Eydie at the London Palladium back in the eighties... Fantastic duet. They are so good together and they are both together again now. Hope they are singing in Heaven.
I know nothing is perfect, and nobody is perfect. But for the life of me, I cannot find a flaw in this 15 minutes of performance. NOTHING. What's more I have looked at several of their other duets. Each time Perfect diction, phrasing, pitch. I can't find anything. Just impeccably flawless.
Blissful! Two consummate pros and the music of Gershwin in a beautifully put together medley. Who could ask for anything more!! In the dear dead days of the 12 inch record, Steve and Eydie released a double album of this show, which I lent to someone and never got back so this brought back some happy memories.
Eydie was Streisand before Streisand, a better singer and not as obnoxious and Steve was at least equal to any crooner. From nightclubs to TV, they were the best!
OMG - this was perfection. I can't think of anyone today who could do such perfect justice to these wonderful compositions. Golly, we are lucky to have shared the same planet with Steve and Eydie!
What a combination....the genius of Gershwins' music full of so many beautiful songs sung by two of the best male and female vocalists of all time! What a great upload, thanks.

Buzz Thanks for posting this remarkable video. Absolutely mesmerizing how they seamlessly go from one song to another, in a different note and scale. Truly amazing.
Two of the greatest pop vocalists of all time in a fabulous concert featuring a level of singing, theatricality, and musicianship on a level all it's own and what an abundance of superb songs! I saw the concert live as broadcast on TV, and purchased a complete recording that was offered at the time and played it endlessly There were numerous solos, and duets performed by this "dynamic duo" with incredible professionalism and panache often taking advantage of Steve's beautiful mellow tone and Eydie's spectacular head voice which enabled her to include so many incredible high notes such as no other pop vocalist has ever done before or since. A thrilling night of top-flight musical entertainment!
This singing is great, really fabulous but it’s the way they look at each other. That makes my heart sing. I saw this when it originally aired. I’ve always loved these two.
Did anyone catch the play of words when Steve sang"love walked right in and brought the shadows away" he changed it to "love walked right in and scared the (shit) shadows (out of me) from me". Watch his sneaky grin when he gets to the words with a very quick pause and leaves out those words! He has always been a very underated comedian.🤔😱😏🤗👍♥️
Like millions of others how sooo happy I am for the beautiful memories I have of these ridiculously talented entertainers. They connect me to the best of times I had with my mom, dad, brother and so many other family members and friends. Thank you deeply to youtube that as I am writing I am listening, watching and crying many tears of joy.
I saw Steve and Eydie perform in 1990 and they were wonderful just like here. Sometimes Eydie held the mike at full arm's length. They put today's TV talent show singers to shame.
This couldn’t happen nowadays with our crop of singers because the discipline for rehearsal is missing today.... and this performance took some work, not to mention raw talent!
Having grown up in Mexico, I first became aware of Eydie Gorme when she sang with the Trio Los Panchos in Spanish. This was circa 1972, or later than the original recordings. There was a music/record store on Market Street in San Francisco, CA, around this time that played Eydie singing Amor, Amor, Amor and you could hear her all the way to the street as you passed by on the sidewalk. I was immediately intrigued by such a beautiful voice and wanted to know who she was. Later I learned that she was married to Steve Allen, whom I regarded as very handsome and of course extremely talented as well. I was very lucky to have come of age at a time when these two wonderful people could still be heard on television and at record stores. I think of them as I do about Herb Alpert and Lani Hall, two married couples who were superb and extremely talented, delighting the rest of us with their voice and songs.
yes, a wonderful live performance on any level but what about the arranger that put all that together? Without the most talented musicians and arrangers they'd be just another pair of great singers..
The recording industry markets almost exclusively to young, immature minds now. Simple as that. Back in the days of Elvis and later the Beatles there still was a big M.O.R. audience and record-buying public that bought records by Frank, Tony, Ella, Satchmo, Jack Jones, Peggy Lee, Steve and Eydie, et al. No more. We live in the age of junk food, junk music, junk politics, and junk people.
Possibly the best 15 minutes of recorded music ever!! Nobody does it better. Steve & Eydie were inarguably the very best at what they did.
What a gift they were to all of us.
Who can fail to be lifted by the magical voice of Eydie - she had it in spades - one special talent.
Thank you kindly Eydie and Steve.....lots of love from TENNESSEE 🎉
Brilliant in every way and never to be seen like this ever ever again Period !!!!!

Steve is very good but Eydie is absolutely astounding.....as per that last note in the medley.....holy.....cow !! a lucky guy that Steve.....
I'm with you!
It doesn't get any better than these two.
and the nicest people you will ever meet- smart, witty and fun
Great entertainers, great couple, wonderful songs from days gone bye...Rest in Peace,

You both made a beautiful couple and inspirational singers too. G-D is with you now Eydie...
I love this couple!! So much talent and so much love for each other!! They are really great singers and great entertainers!!

Their voices were perfection together. Thanks for this delight.
It doesn’t get any better than this. Who could ever follow them? I know Steve misses her.
God bless them both always.🎼👏

ENDLESS PEREFCT MEMORIES

Always love to hear them together. The best!!
This an amazing live performance.
They were both blessed with such beautiful voices, fantastic, flawless
Thank God for Steve Allen… they met when he was host of The Tonight Show back in the early fifties. What glorious serendipity!
OMG - this was perfection. I can't think of anyone today who could do such perfect justice to these wonderful compositions. Golly, we are lucky to have shared the same planet with Steve and Eydie!
Saw them in person in the round; fantastic. What a loss!!
What a combination....the genius of Gershwins' music full of so many beautiful songs sung by two of the best male and female vocalists of all time! What a great upload, thanks.
Always had a crush on her as a teenager. One classy lady.
Talent and love both. Incredible couple. We will likely not see the likes of them again.

I've been a fan of Steve and Eydie since I was little and I'm now 23 RIP Eydie Gorme so glad Steve Lawrence is still around
So happy to hear that you are so young and enjoy this great style .
Their talent shows no matter when or where .
Always loved Steve and Eydie ...
what a beautiful couple. Notice how Steve is always smiling when he looks over at Eydie.
This singing is great, really fabulous but it’s the way they look at each other. That makes my heart sing. I saw this when it originally aired. I’ve always loved these two.
Steve is a Brooklyn boy from Morgan avenue.
I remember him from "The Carol Burnett show". He had great comedic chops.
NOW 85 I BLESSED TO STILL SEE & HEAR!!!
Her voice just " smiled".
Their breath control starting at 10:03 is jaw dropping (no pun intended). And, while taking a bow no less.
Thank you for the old songs of my youth..at 94 they still move me,thank you so much
Love them both !! Just wonderful
IT IS WONDERFUL TO SEE THAT SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE EXCELLENT TASTE
Two great pop singers make this incredibly elaborate and complex medley sound easy.
It's hard to wrap your mind around how good these guys were together. They were already a thing when I was born but I'm only hearing them now.
Speechless!

Most refreshingly entertaining, this is real, not llke anything today. Thank you for posting
Saw them with Sinatra in Melbourne in 91. Just brilliant.

723, "Bess you is my woman now..." Steve goes deep and the results are very moving.

You could see their love.
Poor Steve....he had to keep up with this incredible woman. Great team.
Good Lord in Heaven Above! Is she perfection on "I've Got A Crush On You" or what?!?
Steve and Edie at the pops

~ R.I.P. Eydie ~ 08/10/13 ~
Individually both are great singers; together they are the very best.

Amazing and Perfect .. GOD BLESS AMERICA
Today we have Lizzo. Nuff said.
Will they ever release their Carnegie Hall concert in the 1960s ?
My god , I wish she would have sang Summertime by herself . Damn , girl could sang !
A question for those who are older than I am, did Steve and Eydie ever have a subpar performance? I've only seen the Carpenters near this perfect.
Not that I'm aware of . The standards were higher . Their professionalism and class are almost as striking as their talent and chemistry .
WATCHED THEM LIVE FOR OVER 40 YEARS IN LAS VEGAS AND EVERYWHERE, NOT A NOTE OR HAIR OUT OF PLACE - EXCEPTIONAL EVERY PERFORANCE
Thanks for this! I wonder when it was recorded, and where? It’s really perfect!
It was recorded as a TV special Tribute to Gershwin in 1975. It was titled 'Our love is here to stay' Perfection. They were in a class of their own.
I have seen several clips from that show, including two or three with Gene Kelly. I’d love to see the whole show…
Is this the same recording as appeared on the album The Gershwin Years?
I think so. I never understood why it wasn’t released on CD. Or download
Name of the songs??
they were really talented back then. what happened?
