In my country (Netherlands) nobody has ever heard of Eydie. After playing a couple of songs from her 'Los Panchos'- LP on my Amsterdam FM radioshow my old friend Mimi (formerly famous Dutch actress) called to the studio, saying: 'I danced about the living!'

She recorded several songs in Spanish with a Mexican trio called “Los Panchos” and had a tremendous success. Her Spanish pronunciation was also pristinely great and clear. As Simon Cowell says, she “could sing the phone book” and do it superbly.

I wish I had appreciated this wonderful lady and her amazing voice. When I was younger ( about 16 to 20) I had heard of her and her husband , but I was not into easy listening ( I hadnt heard of that description at the time ) but it wasnt mainstream. NOW ....as I am older ( 63 ) I realise I have missed out , but I am making up for that by buying as many songs by the two of these people as I can to listen and watch .

My mother was a singer and she liked Steve and Eydie. In those days I was listening to the Stones and couldn't relate. but now, at 71, I like to revisit my mother's world. She knew something I didn't. I have little fondness for most pop singers of today. I'll take Eydie, Lena, Frank and Judy over Taylor any day.

Rudy Vallee, who introduced the song in 1931, maintained that the verse was written in too high a key. Eydie Gorme may have agreed because she's almost at the top of her range when she sings the verse's opening lines ("This crazy world we're living in is cause for apprehension / With speed a new invention / And things like third dimension").

Absolutely correct. Now today's artists and singers appears onstage scantily clad like the old stone age not for economic reason, but fashion. No bras, bare legs with no panties, and on occasion wore see-thru apparel. Artistic, but bombastic. Sometimes they called it a "statement" like mystic of India Sadhguro explained on one occasioned as to why he wore India-like attire when he promoted the idea of inclusiveness and exclusiveness. Adverse ideas by themselves. The truth said he, "if Im in north pole I must wear like Eskimo because of zero temperature. His attire is not necessarily Indian, but "a statement" - to promote Yoga". Absolutely correct because Yogi's and Guro's doesn't wear business attire. So did Hollywood.
