10:17 the Preds won the season series vs the Avs 2-1 (one being a memorable comeback win, too) and split the series with the Stars 2-2...with a memorable loss that led to the Preds 16-0-2 tear afterwards without the offensive dynamism at the time. The lack of a 2nd line scoring threat was especially evident in that close series vs the Canucks. I've seen every iteration of this Preds franchise in 24 years as a STH...and the franchise has never had a Stamkos...let alone three 40 goal scorers on the roster. Offensive anemia has been the norm, winning games from the net out with stellar goaltending, a stalwart defensive structure, and opportune goals from serviceable two-way forwards. Hell, Duchene and Forsberg were the first in franchise history to fairly recently exceed 40 goals in a season ffs...how far our franchise has come from the 90s expansion era of no-names like Sergei Krivokrasov. As for Askarov, he walked away from the tutelage of Mitch Korn (coached Hasek, Rinne, and Holtby to hardware), Pekka Rinne, and Juuse Saros all because he was petulant and demanded play in the NHL despite being chased from his crease in back-to-back AHL postseasons and playing only 3 NHL games...please. You go for the proven commodity and let that dumb kid see the baby sharks for more assets (joining another Russian, Radulov, in mind). Meanwhile, the pipeline is being stocked, guided by veteran, Cup-winning leadership in the meantime, and complemented by assets like it's VGK's expansion year. 😅 Feels good. If it fails, at least they failed daring greatly...wasted Pekkas prime without such a splash. Go Preds!
I think that a pretty good parallel for the Preds are the 19-20 Dallas Stars. A bubble team that was on the upswing, had a good playoff and then added Joe Pavelski and Corey Perry, two guys who had been big names for their previous teams. A veteran team with some youth. Everybody was high on them, including the locker room, but the start didn't go well at all. It took them a couple months to figure it out, and from there they were one of the better teams in the League that culminated in their Finals run. Obviously no 2 teams are the exact same, but I could see the season play out similarly. I don't expect the Preds to be great right off the bat. They've had a tendency for slow starts, expectations are high and it probably takes some time for the team to figure out how to have success - and guys like Stamkos and Marchessault to start feeling like they're part of the team. I remember the Stars guys saying they thought it was going to be easier than it was after the new acquisitions, and that's human nature that can always play a part. I see them as a team that gets better throughout the season and have to overcome adversity to really mold into a contender. Obviously as a cherry on top, if the Johansen contract gets voided they're going to be able to fit in pretty much any player they want at the TDL. All in all, exciting moves by Trotz and it'll be fun to see what the team can do.
I had predicted, going into this regular season, that this regular season, in no particular order of ranking, would feature the Jets, Avs, Dallas Stars, Preds, and maybe the Utah Hockey Club, in the Central Division’s top-five. As of games that ended by Sunday a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, in order of highest to lowest, the Stars, Utah HC, Jets, MN Wild and Blues had been in that division’s top-five. There is still time for things to change, but I see this regular season for the Preds as a near-lost one already.
I could very well see it being Preds VS Devils which would be an awesome cup final, especially because they're within driving distance of each other and both within driving distance of me
This will be really interesting, but we gotta see how this shakes out. Theyre gonna have a new identity and expect to score more. That might compromise their defensive game...because Stamkos is low key a defensive liability, and who knows how Marchessault will do away from VGK.
So far, those teams the Preds have faced have all created problems for the Preds, with the Preds now the only NHL team this regular season to not have put up a standings point in ANY such game, having scored and allowed 10 and 23 respective goals. It’s quite possible that by the end of this week, the Preds will be at least 10 points out of the nearest available playoff spot, and that will be even before October has ended.
Nashville coach "Guys' ur'e playing like minor leaguers I'm cancelling the U2 concert Preds players "WHAT???? NO BONO??? WE RIOT!" Preds make the playoffs which is a good thing because my nephew lives near Nashville and me and his cousin (my nephew from a different sister) are trying to get him to be a hockey fan to rope in his branch of the family tree. My sister's not the biggest sports fan nor is my brother in law but we're trying to change that esp when they live 20 minutes from Bridgestone arena and Smashville.

The power of Bono is running through their veins.
Preds balled out and win the off-season ! Fingers crossed the Preds play the Oilers in the playoffs
The mayor of Nashville plays for the oilers, though it'd be a conflict of interest

Funny name. They only predate like five teams though...
I just remember Adam last season keep saying why ROR would want to go to Nashville other than Toronto.. Think this is why
We're gonna be a good team this season
Super excited to be at Bridgestone for the next 4-5 years.

As Preds fan I think they make it all the way to the cup

Good ol U2 Preds
Preds are good but their window is short. Time to cash in this TDL with all those picks
It's Jankowski...not Janikowski... I should know, he is my cousin. Cheers and Leafs and Preds in the Cup final! Weeeeeeeeeee
Preds are good but their window is short, they need to cash in all those picks this TDL
this team is going far in the playoffs
Nice jersey, Jesse! LGR
I honestly have Nashville winning the cup
Me too, together with Oilers and Panthers. I’m from Europe and I always pick 3 teams every year.
Let’s Go Perds!
4:03 now check Novak's stats from the previous year...guy just needs to spend time in the gym and have someone to set up on that 2nd line. 🤷
Preds vs Canes stanley cup, calling it now
@@FalloutUrMum love to see that
Preds are going to be a problem.
For the rest of the league.

Dark horse cup contender
It will be funny when Nashville gets bounced by Vancouver or Edmonton
