As a blackhawks fan, Jesse might be my new best friend, 4th place in the division and playoffs, is wild. But hey anything came happen, should be a fun ride this season.
If Bedard breaks out this year and gets 100+ points they MAY make the playoffs, but it would be tough. I think Chicago is just not tanking this year. They want a top 10 pick in the draft, but not a top 3. They also have some nice trade chips at the deadline that will bring in some draft picks and prospects
Your sample size for generational talent making the playoffs in their second season is two guys. Plus, you're confusing correlation and causation. Just because both McDavid and Crosby made the play-offs in their second year doesn't mean their status as generational prospects was the reason that happened. You have to look at the secondary scoring and depth, which I just don't see. You probably need someone to put on at least 75+ points and another couple players to put up 50+.
I was waiting for this one for Jesse's hot take. I will say, if everything goes right, Chicago has a chance to be battling for the last wild card spot along with Utah, St. Louis, L.A. & Seattle, but I don't see them finishing above Winnipeg, Dallas, Nashville, or Colorado in their division, unless something goes terribly wrong for one of those teams.
Regardless if they don't make the playoffs, the Blackhawks will be very competitive and fun to watch. The most underrated part of being a fan is watching potential and development.
I dont mind this format for previews, and i get that ita probably better in terms of numbers. But honestly i think a livesteam closer to the start of the season where yall predict each division would be a lot more fun. Even if less in depth
also them having 52 points last season was largely due to the fact that they were easily one of the most injured teams in the league. they didn't have many good players to begin with and the ones they did have were all injured at one point (Hall, Athanasiou, Bedard, Foligno, Jones and more). they were claiming random guys off waivers and bringing up AHL nobodies just to ice a team at one point. if all of those players have relatively healthy seasons and they actually have a quality NHL-caliber supporting cast now, I can see a huge swing in points. also they have an actual backup goalie now who's not basically an automatic L on the scoresheet.
@marquisduhsade probably But he also has a profile that can potentially drop. He's old. He's a wing. He isn't exactly known for defensive prowess, but that could change this year. And a whole lot of the bad teams need a Schaefer or a Mrtka this year
I’m on Jesse’s side here, in fact I think they are a 100 point team this season. I can’t back it up but I’m going out on a limb. The central is so stacked tho that I have them as the second wildcard even with 100 points, very unlikely to happen but I’m all here for it!
Excited to watch Bedard continue to grow into the inevitable freak of nature superstar but not expecting much else from the Hawks. They will definitely be more watchable than last years squad though I’ll tell you that for free.
There is no chance of the Blackhawks making the playoffs. Defense and goaltending are pants, and the only teams in the west who made the playoffs last season who got worse are vegas and (arguably) the kings.
Levshunov will prolly spend the season down in Rockford. I’m hoping that the Icehogs make the playoffs. As a hawks fan, we’ll make a big step but we’re not making playoffs just yet. Could see us 5th or 6th in division
Here’s the deal I lived in Chicago last season, I went to 10 games last year. Bedard didn’t record a goal or a point in the games I watched To be very fair, he’s an engaging player and it was hard not to notice him and I know that he will be special and that people will look at this fact and laugh in the distant future This team will get better, Broissaint is better, but they have to do better at home. This year ain’t their year for a post season, but a time when they crush the hearts of other central division opponents like the early 2010’s are on the horizon
Asking Bedard to come up with 100 with still not enough around him is unfair. There is no definite number 2 scoring threat on this team. It’s a shame. It’s like watching Caleb Williams on the bears. No help for him either. Being a chicago fan is tough.
Jesse... The central has the Avs, Jets, Stars and the Preds. I think the most likely out of the four I listed to drop to fifth are the Jets, and even that is a STRETCH and a half. I can see them finishing 5th with some luck on their side. Now the funny thing is, imo they could still make the playoffs like that since the pacific is lookin kinda thin, you have the top three of EDM, VGK, and VAN, and then the rest. There is actually a semi-realistic scenario where the hawks get more points than the kings for example, but everything would have to go absolutely right for them.
@@anthonyfaccaro7118blues don’t have a prayer of sniffing the playoffs this year, hawks actually have an outside chance of snagging a 5th place wildcard
Will hawks make top 3 in division? (Avs, Preds, Stars) no. Take either wc spot? (Kings ((doughty injured)) Jets), 50/50. All depends on small variables. But their roster doesn't look terrible by any means.
They should legit throw an offer sheet at Swayman. Just saying. If they finish 5th and push for a spot but not get it. Mid range draft pick, and the bedard and company get way better. The draft picks might not be the loss you’d imagine for Swayman.
The situations are so diff, Crosby had better pieces in place and Malkin and Fluery, McDavid had prime Hall, Eberle, Nuge, Talbot, Etc. Bedard has no one on that level still the hawks are not making the playoffs lol
Levshunov is going to be in Rockford this year he's not making the Blackhawks this season. I wonder if your leaf bias doesn't understand how well Mrazek is because your dump him on us because the Leafs wanted were so ready to get rid of him. Mrazek has worked out great in Chicago has 2 years on his deal. Our top goalie prospect Drew Commesso is in Rockford he's going be cooking in Rockford till Mrazek deal is done.
As a die hard hawks fan… this team is still abysmal. Bedard, like last year will be the only player teams will keen on. Secondary scoring? May I ask where from?
They’re objectively better “on paper” than they were last year. That being said 10 new bodies in the line up need time to gel. Jesse just gets too hyped up about young stars. Bedard, Faber, Hughes, etc. Hockey is a team game.
Love Jessies enthusiasm for my Hawks! If we can get off to a hot start I think its possible. My only concerns would be injuries. Hall probably will get hurt again. Arie is already hurt and missing a few weeks, and LB is already going to miss a few weeks. Hopefully Bedard takes that step. As a STH i would love for the hawks to roll. But either way its going to be a fun team to watch at the UC! LETS GO HAWKS!
@@matthewsimonds3346 it's not getting one of they're young guys to an elite level that's the problem. Chicago is still in a situation where they need one more top draft pick center. It's too early in the rebuild to worry about playoffs.
