- On the remote island of Aranearum something has awoken... Part beast, part locomotive, Charles has arisen and the rails aren't safe. Where did he come from? Why is he here? What will this do to the price of an off-peak commuter season ticket?
These are the questions you must answer. Summoned to the island as a famed monster hunter, the islanders need you to take Charles down. But Charles isn’t your only problem…
Certain islanders think the best way to keep Charles from eating them is to make sure Charles never goes hungry…
Here we go! First big production video of the year! And an absolute blast to get to work with Dan again on a big, fun, spooky collab!
And before you say anything, I know the game is really just an industrial railway but for the purposes of this video let’s imagine it also features a small passenger line. We had access to a beautiful little heritage railway station so were we NOT gonna use it?
Lots of firsts on this project! CG environment extension! 3D printing! Exciting to explore new processes to help grow even larger projects going forwards! A huge thank you to the entire team who helped put this together. My on-set and behind the scenes crew, the various CG artists who worked on this with me, this project couldn’t have happened with you all! after all ,say the first game concept , just bit more polished and with the full risk charlie might hunt you in the wilds if it detects you as it roams , and have these guys improv some random generated lunes you can encounter singing ^^
or better ..put it all underground with a 'radio channel' you can tune into as player in sprawling ..hive.. like caverns with tunnels between and a far more 'meaty' train for possible group play to try and survive charlies daughters that have way more options to both lay in ambush or try stalk crew that might get tempted to venture just a lillllll but out of sight from the train/mobile bunker in the desperate breaks to get scraps to patch up and upgrade or fuel to stay ahead ...of the swarm! long enough to race through those caves and tunnels to warn the mainland , something eldritch been awoken! ....or just endless mode to see how long various smucks of small channel entertainer groups like mark & friends can survive the vengeance of chariles daughters hungering for the blood of those that killed papa! XD

According to shwabadi, the train they're on was actually just the box they're in and the cylinder infront... Every thing else is CGI. Also, the chalk and the blackboard behind shwabadi in the intro is also CGI, that board was empty on the day of filming. Again, this is all according to shwabadi.

Dan Bull and The Stupendium are simply too powerful when teamed up together. They sing two bars and I'm already adding their new song to my playlist.
My favorite part of this entire song is the "Engine, Engine Number Nine" part. The synchronized bobbing up and down was just perfect and really sold how creepy this song can be while also being playful. It perfectly encapsulates how the game is taking itself so seriously despite the ridiculous concept of a man eating Spider Train. The utter ridiculousness of the concept is just hilarious while also being completely taken serious in the actual game just like the song.
Edit: After a lot more listens it seems this entire song just loves referencing train related rhymes and songs. Absolutely astonishing
Reminds me of some other games like the one where there's a demon created out of ink to work at a theme park only to get locked in a tomb for years

Something that doesn't get mentioned is how the train is *Flying* down the tracks, it really implies the desparation of the characters you're playing, before leading to the Insanity that overtakes them. Bravo

I love catching the musical theatre references in Stupes songs but I can't believe it took me five months to realize this one (if i'm correct lmao)
At 4:49, "If killing a priest, a vicar, a grocer, or postman or three is villainous?" may be a reference to A Little Priest from Sweeney Todd. In the song, Mrs. Lovett and Sweeney discuss hypothetically turning various community figures into meat pies to serve in her shop. Among many others, they bring up the titular Priest and joke about whether a meat pie is made of Grocer or Vicar (it has to be grocer, it's green).
I’m really hoping the Dev of Choo Choo Charles knows of this, this song is so good it would be criminal for them to not know of this!

I really wonder, in sections where they are singing out the side of the train, you get moments like at 5:33 where Stupes hat gets tilted sideways and they just leave it there. Was that intentional? Because it REALLY sells the whole "we are going mad" aspect.

The song having the vibe that I crave from niche bands like Caravan of Thieves where the instrumental an vocal tone just goes all over
4:25 stupes sounds so ridiculous when they say "THE EL CHOO-CHOOPACABRA" you had way too many giggles I can tell
3:53 is a solid highlight not only with the really cool visual of them bobbing up and down in beat with the flow but the changing from normal to cultists attire
That and the flow of the verse is great!
Overall! Another absolutely stupendous video that flows so well and has a killer beat!

I love how when you say "sixteen tons of scurrying death" the rhythm slightly changes to that of Tennessee Ernie Ford's classic.
Stupendium and Dan Bull in the Charlie masks made me whistle with laughter. Also them just casually talking and walking off as they left that dude to get eaten by Charles. Also the "most illogical number of legs" killed me. As if any number off legs would be natural on a friggen train.
I dont know why but the "Engine, Engine, Number 9" part has been living in my head rent free for over a week
holy crap, that choo-choo Charles model is so cool and, in my opinion, the best 3d animated choo-choo Charles I've seen. also, I like that unlike other songs that focus on either Charles or the Archivist, this focuses on the cultists and the regular denizens of Aranearum
I'm glad Dan's influence has left a clear and visible mark (A whole verse dedicated to innuendo) on this song as well (Not that the Stupendium doesn't have that capability we all know one particular song)

Just something I want to say really quick. After listening to this about a dozen times I can't stop noticing how well you guys harmonize together. It's genuinely really cool. That combined with how much fun the song is really cool, incredible job guys.
