  • Here I demonstrate the step by step process of how to fix and bypass the electric seat motor in a Nissan Rogue. This procedure will be exactly the same for Nissan Rogues between the year 2008-2013. And very similar for all of Rogue models. If you are checking out this video in order to learn how to remove the seat on a rogue, this video is for you too!
The list fo tools you will need is a Flat head screw driver, a Phillips head screw driver, a pair of vice grips, a T-50 Torx socket, a 10mm socket, a ratchet, and a strong desire to want to save three thousand dollars for a total seat frame replacement.
If you are unsuccessful I would suggest buying a seat from a local junk yard and transferring your seat covers and airbags over.
Thanks for watching, I hope this video is helpful, and don't forget to hit that SUBSCRIBE button for more great how to videos!

I have a Nissan X-Trail T31 which had the same problem (only recline back and no response to de-recline forward). I found that by setting the seat to the furthest back position and then reclining the seat as far as flat as it would go - fixed the problem! The issue has occurred twice and on each occasion this trick worked. Maybe just for me but worth a try, although if it doesn't work you have effectively changed the seat into a bed. I gambled, and won.

    Your detailed explanation is wonderful!
I have a reclining issue with driver seat but it wasn’t same issue here. I watched anyways bc I felt I could gain knowledge nonetheless. It’s your style that made me watch. Thank you for taking great time and detail for folks to understand.
It’s your type of video that has a first timer believe in success!

Just wanted to say thanks for this video. My 2013 rogue wouldn't recline. Pretty much followwd these instructions but I didn't remove the seat back and didn't use a hammer. Just used 2 flat head vise grips on that bar and twisted.

Having the same problem. How did you get to the bar without removing the back?

@@chrisbogen9967 each side should have a zipper that's tucked in. Just unzip that and move the foam out of the way

    Thanks for the vid Nate!
Have a bud who has been driving his Rogue with his seat reclined back for 3 weeks. Got the seat out and got to the splined rod and we had vice grips on both sides, and we could not get that spline to rotate? Slapped it back in as he was running out of time.
The motor makes noise but no movement. I'm thinking the gear box is trashed and jammed up. I want to remove the gearbox but I'm afraid if we don't get it back in, the seat will not stay in any position? Anyone have any thoughts as to what to try next? Maybe I need to use a hammer on it? :)

Ok, got a 2nd shot at the seat back roll bar as Nate said, if you grip the spline bar as he says, you can use vice grips to manually roll the spline up from the seat bottom, and it will spin 2/3 splines (clicks) at a time, regrip and keep doing this 20-30X. The seat back will roll up to the drive position. I did take the side covers off and I used a hammer to tap the spline bar side to side and get some movement and then start your vice-grip roll up.
Remounted the seat and did final spline bar adjustments with the seat installed.
Thanks for Bullseyenate for the post. There are many of these out there will stuck seat backs.

Thank you Nate:) I was looking at those and went with a gen four 4Runner which I have learned a bunch from you about. Is there anyway you could do a vid about the rear bumper on the gen 4? How in the heck is that made to fit properly?

Hey, can you clarify what beating it with a hammer did? Will the Vice grip not work unless you beat the rod loose?

    • @bullseyenate231
      @bullseyenate231  Рік тому +1

Ok so basically I used the hammer to massage the rod into moving not actually beating it loose or anything. Just a slight tap tap to help it begin to move.

Not sure exactly what part you are referring to but I believe you are talking about the allen key. It is Allen key bolts that hold the rail to the seat.
