    Just had to replace my driver side heated seat and 1 week after the repair, my seat panel fell off. Because of this video I knew exactly what happened, which was the same issue. The dealer broke the center clip. I just sent the dealer this video and told them to order another panel. Thanks for this video!!!! You just helped me deal with the dealer!

    Great video. I did exactly the same job on a 2015 Sonata. The weaknesses in the part are criminal and should not exist. I used the metal frame parts on the seat side under the side plate. I drilled a strategically placed hole at the front and another at the rear of the panel and drilled into the metal. I then simply screwed the plastic side onto the seat. The screws are virtually unnoticeable and the side is very secure. If I thought a replacement side would be stronger than the original I would have bought one. Not being the case, I used two screws for a total cost of zero (old screws). Unless you seek out that specific area visually, it cannot be seen.

    Thank you so much. I have this problem with a Captiva . The panel broke off and I though I might be able to fix is. This is just the information I needed. I'am a 66 year old retired women who has never done anything like this in my life. I learned a lot using UA-cam and thought to give it a try. I could not think of what to call the seat panel or how it came off or where to get it. I cant thank you enough. So now I will get to work finding the part and fixing it. Another note is while driving one day I was putting something in side pocket and hit the control that made the seat move forward and I could not stop it. Pulled over cause I could not breath ,funny now but not now so it has to be fixed.

    Nice video. I had to replace the seat switch at the dealer and shelled out $125 for the switch and $165 for labor. I tried to remove the trim but didn't feel comfortable as it didn't want to come out and I didn't want to break it. I was told this is a part that breaks frequently. I'm ready now for the next time this happens.

    If anyone has a 2013, the screws are now phillips head, rather than t20. There is also one phillips screw on the backside of the cover, that can be accessed from the rear seat. Everything else seems the same. Two pop tabs around the mechanism, then pull forward towards the pedals to release clips

    Here’s a tip. I thought I’d raise the seat all the way up to make it a little easier, and it was until it came time to connect the wire harness. Couldn’t do it. I had to lower the seat in order to make the connection above a thin piece of welded rod. I’m also having a hard time getting the rear tabs in. The front and center are good. Will try again when my hands warm up.

    Guru, thank you for doing this video. I'm going to attempt to fix my girlfriends Tucson with this solution, but want your opinion. The vehicle's seat performs all other movements, but the back of the seat was only going back for some time, but not forward. Now, the other day the lever got stuck for a minute when I closed the door and trapped the seat belt between each and held the lever down and now the back doesn't move at all and their is no sound either when you hit the switch in either direction. Do you believe the motor might need replaced or the switch still? Thank you for any thoughts.

    I ordered the driver seat panel from my dealership for my Hyundai Sonata 2015 and they said it wouldn't fit. It looks exactly like yours.
    Update:
    After watching your video I tried installing the driver seat panel myself and was successful. Just had to use a little force. I'm not sure why their mechanics could not put it on. Must not be properly trained.

    My friend has this issue with his seat. He says he can't get comfortable because the seat isn't staying the way he adjusted for. Sometimes he has to keep adjusting it the up and down motor stops working and then later works again. He also says that it'll move while he is driving. So just for clarification is that the issue your father n law was having because part of the panel broke off on the inside and if not can you tell me what he says is happening even possible and how so. I really want to be able to tell him that there is a rhyme and reason to his problem and stop feeling like he is losing his mind. Thank you so much in advance for any insight you could offer.

    • @PartsCounterGurus
      @PartsCounterGurus  3 роки тому

      @Christina Pickard. In this instance, The panel cleanly broke on the mounting points and there was no issue of malfunctioning switches. If switches are randomly activating on your friends seat without a persons intervention, that could be a safety issue for the driver and those types of instances can occur. The cover can be removed quite easily to access the switches and inspect them and replace if necessary. I would seek the help of the dealership to check to see if there is a recall on the switches or perhaps have them check the wiring harness. Just have the fil VIN ready to give them. Any electrical component can be defective or become worn to the point it does not function properly or at all in some cases. Its worth looking into!

    • @PartsCounterGurus
      @PartsCounterGurus  2 роки тому

      The 2018 Hyundai Sonata We Worked On Had No Interference with any SRS Components. There were no modules located on the seat lumbar controls panel or outside panel where they mount the seat controls. Typically the SRS Modules are under dash, within the center consoles of the car in the Center of the steering wheel and so on. We Recommend referring to your owners manual or contacting a local dealer to be certain.

      It's doubtful its the same part # and you would also have to have the same color. We had difficulty looking it up and eventually called the dealer. They will need the last 8 of your VIN. If you have that, give them a call and they can find it very quickly. It had to be ordered but only took a few days to arrive. So easy to change! Good luck and thanks for watching!!

    • @buddyboy4x44
      @buddyboy4x44 Рік тому

      My Hyundai dealer candidly told me they do not repair parts, they replace them. For example, the small plastic mounting bracket for a rear motion sensor broke inside the rear bumper. It is part of the whole plastic rear bumper. All it needed was a bit of epoxy to remount the sensor yet they quoted about $1200 to replace the whole bumper. These weak plastic parts are criminal when combined with such practices.

      At 2:50 …. We explain to use a trim tool to remove it. Must have went over your head. Most people watching this video are replacing the cover because it’s broken off so the need to physically remove the cover is out of the equation, but as a bonus to those that actually pay attention to the video, we threw that in there.

      @redlightdistrick if it will lay back but not go up, Could be the actuator/motor or switch. We would recommend you inspect the wiring harness and connection to make sure there is no damage there. Also check to make sure there is no apparent loose mechanical components (gear/lever).
