I am Japanese and I also studied English in Cebu. Honestly, before going to the Philippines, what came to my mind was like bananas and lateness, and I couldn't imagine spending time in there. The last day, however, I couldn't imagine leaving the Philippines, because teachers and people were like my second family. Actually what comes to my mind about this country is kindness, friendliness, and cheerfulness so on and so forth like Mana san said, which is one of the reasons why I started learning Tagalog. Mahirap ang Taglog but Gusto ko ng the Philippines and Jollibeeeeeeee
I find it weird before how other nationalities got amazed by us being so friendly, always smilling, family-oriented and such. I thought all people are like that but I think it is us (filipinos) being so unique.
I think we filipinos got this attitude from American southern culture. In places like Texas, alabama, Georgia, Florida, carolinas.. people always say hi and even give out hugs, love god and their families the same way. Which leads me to believe most of the Americans that lived in the Philippines during their colonization days were from the American South.
@@rl8571 mentioning all these countries, I remember the country songs I heard, they mentioned most of these countries (cowboys). perhaps they are on agricultural land, they have ranch, mining etc. I've never been there but I am just picturing it. So if this is the environment, then they are family/social oriented people.

OUr belief in the Father almighty, however is what makes a Pilipino attitude, hence that is why they are trying to take religious belief away in some parts of the world.

Since you mentioned that Japanese always thinks so seriously, we Filipinos sometimes think crazily. Crazy funny ideas lighten up the mood while thinking or brainstorming (Yes! We laugh a lot in the middle of the process.) then we pick-up the best solution to the problem. It keeps our sanity while lessening the burden of the problem.
