Not funny at all... it wasn’t even a book, it was a story outline, like a couple dozen hand written pages. She also tried to sue James Cameron because she said The Terminator also infringed on her book... think about it, what kind of story would infringe on movies as utterly different as The Matrix and The Terminator... Her story is the most basic outline for “The Heroes Journey”, she could just as easily gone after Harry Potter, or Total Recall. Point is, she didn’t show up in court because she would have been laughed out of it. There are endless nuisance suits in the world, this is just one more of those. You can buy her “book” on Amazon. I think you’ll see why the suit was a joke if you read it.

@@drrickmarshall1191 I read the court cases as well. It seems that her original lawyer sabotaged her during the original trial. She won her lawsuit against him and his legal team. They also did rule that there was enough similarities between her original published work and the matrix and terminator to investigate. But they determined that she had no grounds to have 15 billion dollars paid to her. Which I agree. That is just ridiculous. If she would have asked for 100 million or something more realistic, she probably would have won.
@@angelmarrero1360 She couldn't have won either way. Her initial treatment was far, far, far too vague, it had no strong similarities in the slightest and copyright law does not support such vague proclamations for obvious reasons.
She also would not win because of the "sabotage" you're referring to, her lawyer didn't submit the films for comparison, thus there is nothing in evidence to suggest her treatments were similar too, she couldn't appeal this either, as negligence is not grounds to include evidence in continuance cases.
I'd also note, how much you actually ask for in damages is redundant to whether you win a case or not, because damages are awarded in proportion to what the judge finds reasonable. She could have asked for $1.00 and she still wouldn't have won.
It's a strong mix of absolute incompetence on her lawyers part, which I think is most likely given he took such a non-starter in the first place, and genuine delusion and naivety, and perhaps a bit of maliciousness on her part.

Look at how rich the symbolism, metaphors, and allegories are in The Matrix. It’s brilliant. The Wachowskis are so well read. They are drawing on eastern philosophy, Schopenhauer, Plato’s allegory of the cave, the Upanishads, etc. They had the cast reading Schopenhauer on the set of Matrix Reloaded. They were fans of and inspired by Philip K. Dick and cyberpunk and so much more. Do people actually buy that the Sophia woman wrote the Matrix? I’m sure she doesn’t even know what an Upanishad is. It’s embarrassing that she’s even claiming ownership.

You can research this for yourselves so "wake up" which is the very theme of the Matrix! She did not write the Matrix or Terminator, she wrote a story titled The Third Eye in the early 80's, if you read it there are similarities between it and MANY sci-fi futuristic movies, not just the Terminator of Matrix so did she write them all, of course not. Before you believe any more hype, you should read that first if you're truly standing up for justice, right?
She did file suit and had court date that she missed, why did she miss the court date? Even though she missed her court date, the judge didn't dismiss the case because of its relative importance. However, it was ruled there wasn't enough evidence from her copy-written works, The Third Eye, to show how either the Terminator or Matrix had stolen her idea only that they were futuristic sci-fi stories. Ask yourself how could both the Terminator and the Matrix be stolen from the same story if they are so different?
To try and turn this into the oppression of a black woman by white corporate Hollywood is the only crime in this story. If she is such a brilliant writer, why didn't she write anything else, or have all of her thoughts and ideas been stolen over the years also? The majority of the time brilliant writers of all colors write story after story, or song after song, or compose music throughout their lifetime.
She wrote her story between 1981-1983, that's when it was first copy written. The Terminator came out in the fall of 1984 but began pitching it and casting it more than 2 years prior. Did James Cameron read her story and sell the idea to the studio instantly? No he was a nobody then, he had trouble selling the movie idea in the first place. James Cameron has written multiple stories the Terminator, the Abyss, Avatar and he's still writing and creating!
The Matrix was pitched to studios in the early 90's by the Wachowskis. They were already known in Hollywood for their writing they had a silly horror movie, several treatments and a hit with the story that became the movie Assassins with Stallone and Banderas. Because they didn't like how Assassins was made they wanted full creative control for the Matrix but the studio said they had no directorial expereince. So, they wrote and directed a much smaller movie project called Bound that came out in 1986. It did great at Cannes and was profitable and showcased their style which foreshadowed much of the goth look in the Matrix.
Both the Terminator and Matrix movies had to change much of their initial story or the way it was told due to a lack of special effects. The bending over backwards stunt that Neo does, the Trinity kick that stops in mid air and then the camera goes around to her other side was all invented during production. The liquid metal Terminator in the sequel, was in the origional script but was taken out because they couldn't do it in 1982/83.
Here's the most rational logical questions to ask:
1. The Terminator was already a working treatment being pitched to studios in 1981 and and began early production in 1982, The Third Eye wasn't copy written until 1981-1983 (when it was first copy-written) how could James Cameron have stolen from it for the Terminator?
2. Why does the version of The Third Eye contain so much of the court documentation now, why has it been altered and re-copy written several times as time has gone on?
3. If after reading the origional copy-written version of The Third Eye why did the judge conclude there aren't enough similarities between it and the Matrix or the Terminator to rule in favor of copy write infringement?
4. If she had such a strong case why didn't she show up for court?
5. If the judge didn't take this case seriously why didn't it throw it out after she didn't show up? Instead it went through a traditional trial and there was not enough evidence to show they stole her idea?
6. Why has she blamed her attorney (who has since died) of some kind of failure to properly prepare for the trial. Either her copy written story contains a lot of both the Terminator and Matrix in it or it doesn't.

If my memory hold true, I think she claimed that her original script which was submitted on request by the studio was what later became readapted to produce both the terminator and matrix franchise and not her books. My guess would be that she probably submitted this material before she even thought her structuring it to a book when she didn't here back from the studios. Also, I love your analysis as they were quite insightful. We definitely may never know the real truth but we are sure glad that we were both opportune to have seen both movies come to reality despite the controversies behind them.
1. She submitted a 6 page note to the studio in 81, Cameron had an initial screenplay in 82 and did not have access to her initial 6 pages, one year prior to her submission of the 45 page treatment in 83. Speaks for itself, unlikely Cameron knew her work existed.

Nah. You gotta understand. These studios aren't rivals. They pool resources and probably have an agreement to share great ideas in some way. Perhaps this year studio A gets it. Next year Studio B etc. All that happened here was other studios caught wind of a big catch for Warner Brothers, and tried to preempt it in some way. Happens all the time. That's why you always get a movie similar to a very successful one in the same year or a year apart.

Total Recall was adapted from a book by science fiction writer Philip K Dick. There's a video here on UA-cam of him from 1977 talking about visions he had. I know there was an interview I heard somewhere of Sophia Stewart mentioning Philip K Dick and calling him a prophet. This man wrote several pages trying to figure out why he had these visions. There's a book called The Exegesis of Philip K Dick that's released about 800 to 900 pages of his thoughts about his strange experience. If I'm not misremembering I think the people who released it said it wasn't even half the amount of pages he'd written.

She won no copyrights related to the films she claims credit for. She owns no copyrights to the films. Sure, her glorified blog says so, but actual court records and actual copyright information say otherwise.
Here's a simple thing to look up. Terminator Genisys came out after all of the ever-shifting dates she supposedly won the copyrights to the films. That film uses the characters of the original Terminator, John Connor, Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese, and the Skynet system. If she had the copyright, then they would have to have some acknowledgment to her in the credits even if only a "based on characters created by" type of thing. It's not there. That credit gets listed as James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd. They got it in the theatrical release, they got it on the home video release, and they still now get that credit in every official and legal document related to the franchise.

I’ve just read the 2014 court case documents, she won $316,280.62 for breach of contract, malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty against Jonathan Lubell, who acted as one of her attorneys in the original court cases (which was dismissed) back in 2004. There’s nothing in the documents which outlines she won anything relating to her being creator or owner or the Terminator or Matrix franchises.

First of all, the makers of these movies are not going to tell you how or where they stole and subverted the work. Instead, they'll offer a false narrative. Since they cannot back up the original success, having faced a private complaint from the actual source in 2001, it's in their interests to promote a false victim: Sophia Stewart (not her real name).
Now, I happen to have access to the genuine stolen work (The Ciphermen), and it has nothing to do with a counterfeit plaintiff promoted everywhere online.
