In terms of cost, the Seacoast is the highest: Portsmouth, Rýe, Hampton, Stratham and Exeter. Urban areas like Manchester,Nashua, Londonderry, Hollis, Amherst and Milford are next in cost but it depends on their neighborhoods. The greater Concord area is growing but towns like Bow, Hopkinton and Henniker have high property taxes. Going north of Concord there are pockets of expensive towns like New London, Hanover, and No. Conway. The lakes region i.e. Winnipesaukee is attractive but bring your checkbook because you'll need it.Northern NH like Colebrook and the Connecticut Lakes has lots of affordable opportunities but unless you are a hermit who loves long, cold winters with little to do and no jobs, look elsewhere. Its the end of the road, just you and the moose.
Seacoast towns are great, just sold my home of 27 years. May buy something smaller in the area but might move to warmer climes.
What towns would you recommend?
I really appreciate this video because another video was saying, "if you want to get close to nature, choose another state." Apparently, there is LOTS of nature there!
Being someone who actually lives and is from NH it kinda annoys me when out of state folks move here and try to change NH to make it more like where they just came from
Atomic, couldn't agree more. Born here in 63'. Fan of the old Governors like the first Sununu and Mel Thompson. Gordon Humphrey, Bob Smith, etc.... Everyone wanted out of MA to get away from the taxes and brought their fucked up socialism with them. Our Senators and Rep's are all socialists and follow Pelosi like puppies. Losers.
@@BSinNH
America has always been a socialist country. You never knew? Geez, I learned that before 1980.
@@douglasdea637
America has, especially in the cities. NH in the 70’s and prior was one of the last bastions on conservative ideology. The libtards moved in and changed the paradigm. The US is now lost. I will be an ex-pat as soon as I retire. Very sad what has happened to this country and this state.
@@BSinNH
Incorrect. NH has been as socialist as the rest of the nation. Since the revolution this has been true. It's only gotten better these past few decades.
But yes, please move away if that makes you feel more comfortable. Perhaps Russia or Germany would be more to your liking.
@@douglasdea637
Mmmm, no. How long have you been in NH? It wasn’t in the same place several decades ago that it is now. Granted since Woodrow, the US has been moving towards a socialist state. Definitely been ramped up in spades as of late. I get you embrace this ideology. I don’t.
Russia? Germany? Hilarious.
My son lives in Hancock and it's perfect ski in winter and beautiful lakes for summer. Not too far from keen and Vt. Love visiting there!!!

Looking into moving to New Hampshire from California. I would be coming alone by myself I’m a painter by trade what areas are good for house painting and landscaping wise.
HI Gabriel, there should be demand for that skillset anywhere in the state. Although Southern NH is the most populated region. Which is also the best area to live for employment opportunities. Feel free to send me an email if you'd like to go into more detail. cody.barna@exprealty.com
I appreciate the video. My wife and I are looking to move back East and we’re looking at New Hampshire and you’ve given us a good selection of towns to look into. FYI, the music is mixed too high for me to hear everything you were saying the first time through.

Lived there for over 4 years, can’t wait to move back!!! Beautiful state!
If you like hiking, go to the Franconia/ Littleton area.
Thanks for sharing, that's a beautiful area for hiking.
I'm pretty sure there's hiking in every town
Thanks for not mentioning my little home town. We are not anxious to have much more influx. Our infrastructure is overburdened at present. Also, as a NH native (I think you stated that you are), you should know that "Haverhill" is correctly pronounced "HāveRill" (only 2 syllables), not Haver Hill. Thanks.
That was my mistake, I did pronounce Haverhill wrong. Not really sure why I said it the way I did, considering I've lived here my whole life.

@@LivinginNewHampshire Don't feel sorry,I was born here in N.H. but I pronouce it hav er hill also.
Did you mention the town you live in? Lol. Any towns that you do recommend?
Beautiful state -- lived in Concord in the late 80s/early 90s. But those 9 month winters....
They can be rough...
Sun is a hard thing to find in winter. Gloomy.
It isn't that bad
Nine months may be a bit of an exaggeration, but the nice days in NH or most of New England are from Mother's Day to Columbus Day, the exact opposite seasons of a place like coastal Florida!
@@kookietherapy9398 I think New England is pretty good in the sun dept. Try the Great Lakes states - cities like Rochester, Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee - whose middle name is GRAY! It is dark and ugly for 4 months, and 3 more, generally unpleasant. I hate winter - prefer SC, NC, GA or FL - but CO has the nicest winter in America, as it is sunny and dry, without that dampness chill that makes it so uninviting elsewhere. Colorado's problem is no ocean or big lakes - and pretty far from any other city/state, where you might find water. However, if you lIke 4 seasons, it is easily the best! Many do not realize that Denver is America's sunniest big city!
I have a long distance ❤️ affair with N.H. I'm in CO, so I watch all these videos to get my New England fix. Thanks for making these videos for everyone.👍
My pleasure, I'm glad you enjoy them!
Which do you prefer?
Whaoh! Same. Native Coloradoan but will definitely visit New Hampshire soon.
Lol! Currently living in CO - considering moving to NH area. Or possibly the mountains of North Carolina! We love the New England towns and fall colors/skiing/hiking, but the weather in NC is great too and there's a few ski slopes that are good
@@Crb1210 We're in Utah also considering NH. The mountains in CO and UT are nice, but damn do I long for more green and less desert
You should be aware that commuting from NH to downtown Boston, even from the southernmost part of NH, is completely brutal. During rush hour, this could easily take 90 minutes each way on a typical day -- longer on a bad day.
Thanks sharing that, I definitely encourage people to choose any area south of Manchester if they're working in Boston.
Get up sooner and beat the rush hour BS
I lived in Salem right on the ma. border the best for shopping working in ma. and a quiet home to live in

Also, be careful of rising property takes can be as much as 4 percent a year, even at county level.
There is no state income taxes so a lot of cost shifting to the local level.

Hi Don, I would probably suggest some of the smaller towns within the eastern region of the state. Such as Hampstead, Atkinson, Plaistow or the surrounding areas. Prices have increased significantly throughout the state over the past year. Which will make it tough to find a turn key property in southern NH at that price point. I hope this help, feel free to send me an email.

No taxes for food but, high property taxes. I lived in Londonderry.

I have been in Londonderry for over 30 years. When we arrived the population was about 10 thousand. Now it is near 30 thousand. That is not an improvement. Our high level school sysyem alone costs over 65 million a year. The reason we stayed is I worked in Massachusetts and could commute by bus. The reason we are still here is the excellent medical care within 30 minutes of home.
IMHO - I you do not need Boston area employment and great pay I strongly suggest the area around Laconia. So long as you cannot see any of the lakes the taxes are reasonable. All the recreation is within driving distance. Nice place but the Winters are no joke.
Thanks for the video! My wife and I are currently trying to decide between NH, VT or Western Mass. We'll be moving from SC and will have never been to the area (except for a quick trip to Northhampton) so doing research virtually. What area would you recommend if we want a nice home, close to a walkable downtown with things to do (coffee shops, restaurants, breweries, dog friendly, etc) but also not too far from hiking and mountains? We're def. more "mountains" as opposed to "coastal" people. Don't care as much about being near water. North Conway, Jaffrey, Hanover?
That's awesome, initially I was thinking Portsmouth but that's coastal. Based on what you're looking for, I think North Conway would be great. I actually have a video coming out on Friday that covers Conway. Let me know what you think about the area after watching that video.
@@LivinginNewHampshire That's awesome will look out for that! Hoping this gives us some clarity on the whole NH vs VT vs Mass issue we're having. Do you have, or will you have, any videos on the pros/cons and just general differences between these New England states for moving?
@@jarredhoelle8253 I actually have a video on the channel comparing NH to Mass. I can make another video comparing it to Vermont. I appreciate the suggestion!

@@anjichurch4406 Hey Anji Thanks for the comment! I've done some research on that area as well it seems really cool. How would you compare the 2 as far as vibe, people and weather? Jobs are also a factor for us as my wife is looking for non-profit work.
How about merrimack?
What are the tax implications of working in MA while living in NH? Particularly if you have a hybrid work-from-home schedule?
If your employer is located in Massachusetts then you'll likely pay state income tax in that state.

Depending on your budget, you could look in Claremont and the surrounding areas. Still within a 30 minute drive, but more affordable rentals.
Was wondering about Lancaster and Andover ?
Andover is very nice, its part of the school district I work for. Everything there comes with a lot of land so be prepared to pay for that. I have nothing against Lancaster it's just more urban.

Tbh New England is goina be on the pricy side, but you can find parts of NH that are cheap, it all depends where you are, if your in nashua you can find some decent prices but the area won’t be the best
I agree with Dan. You can find less expensive areas in the state, but a less expensive area is not going to be as nice. No income or sales tax is great though. It’s a good job market here, but you’ll need a good income to buy a house. But if you can move here, it’s a beautiful state!
Stay in great britain. Save money get a education jobs here that pay well are nurses anything in healthcare its no more expensive than uk. Which towns please in New Hampshire are connected to either Amtrak, the down Easter, or a bus to Boston. I like the idea of living near the ocean or a university town but not so far up north or north east
And I don’t enjoy driving the highways to Boston so I definitely don’t want to do that.

Amtrak has a station in Durham and Durham is about 30 minutes from the ocean.
Hanover isn't "out there". West Lebanon is a pretty built up border town to VT and is next town over to Hanover. Hanover i also home to Dartmouth College and is crazy expensive to own a home.
I appreciate your local insight. They're more rural based on size and population when compared to larger cities further south, that also have more job opportunities. Unless you work remotely it may be more challenging to find employment that pays enough to own a home in that area.
Hanover area has a serious housing shortage; some nurses from DHMC (Dartmouth- Hitchcock Medical Center) are living in St. Johnsbury, VT and commuting as there are few/ no affordable units available.
College towns always have high demand and high prices. I imagine it is similar in nearby Norwich, VT. It seemed fairly affordable 30 years ago, when I was checking prices, while on a bike tour of the CT River Valley, but that was before three decades of artificially low interest rates, and massive deficit financing from the Federal Reserve.
@@jdhjimbo Norwich is the richest town in Vermont and is VERY restrictive of new housing.
@@commanderstraker1082 I did not know that. It is richer than Woodstock or Stowe? I liked the town, so I guess the proximity to Dartmohth pushed values up.
