Because he can not be. @Luke Huizinga just because the prophecy could have referred to both doesn't mean it did refer to either. It's like if the prophecy mentioned the person being called "John Smith" that doesn't mean that anyone named John Smith is potentially the chosen one, just the one John Smith the prophecy was actually about.
Just a note about the Fidelius situation: The Longbottom's wouldn't have completely disappeared from the wizarding world. Dumbledore would be able to safely tell other members of the Order their location, so they could visit. We know from Lily's letter to Padfoot that the same thing happened with the Potters: Bathilda, Wormtail, and Sirius have all visited them. Disguised with polyjuice potion, perhaps they would even be able to go out from time to time, staying cooped up in their house for 10 years would not be fun.
In this version that still means wormtail would know. I’m not sure about the exact details of the fidelius charm, but does that mean he’s also a secret keeper?

The spell breaks down over time after the original secret keeper dies... But I suppose you could have used Nicholas Flemelle as the secret keeper... And keep his stone in a separate location that only he and his wife could find... Until he hands it down to someone else. Thanks J and Ben for supporting and promoting the Trevor Project!! Their organization has saved my life, literally, and given me hope for a bright future.
Harry does have some good questions. Im just starting this episode so hopefully the Super Carlin Brothers will cover some of this. The real problem with the idea of Neville being the chosen one isn't just who Voldermort chose. The reason Lily's sacrifice was so powerful, while James wasn't was because Lily had the option to live. In the books, it's revealed that Snape's love of Lily caused him to ask Voldermort to spare her, and since he was one of Voldermort's most trusted followers, Voldermort agreed. So he gave Lily a choice. James was always going to die. He didn't have the choice to live. No one was asking Voldermort to spare James. But Snape plead for Lily's life. So Voldermort told Lily to stand aside and let him kill her son. She didn’t. Thats why her sacrifice protects Harry but James's sacrifice doesn't. So with that knowledge, someone would have to plead for the life of Neville's mom, or else, she's just killed with no choice to live, so her love wouldn't protect Neville. Excited to see where this alt timeline will go.
There would be no need for Voldemort to spare Neville’s mom because snape wouldn’t have asked for it. It was never meant to be Neville. In my opinion 2:54
@@Lahzing First, prophecies aren't set in stone and need not be fulfilled. Dumbledore directly states that in his conversation with Harry after the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. Second, the prophecy couldn't have applied to Neville specifically because he couldn't have survived.
The content of the video circumvents that issue by skipping it entirely. Voldemort doesn't kill Neville or his parents because he can't find them. Instead of confronting the Longbottoms the way he does the Potters, thus losing his power, he simply chooses to go into hiding.
he might be murdered in the future without that safety magic from his parent dying out of love for him, but for now he hasn't been found at all in this theory so there's no reason for him to have died thus far
Aaahhh! I'm so excited for this series! It was fun seeing how things would've been different if Harry was in Slytherin, so I can't wait how things will change with Neville as the chosen one.
these long video series like the Harry in Slytherin ones are the most exciting ones to me. A few people have suggested what if Dudley went to Hogwarts, and I think that would be a great video series. Or a what if Snape never gave Voldemort the prophecy?
It’s finally happened!! The theory that I have been waiting for for so long!!!! I honestly can’t believe they’ve never done it! I’m so happy that they finally have!!
SUUUUUUPER excited for this new what-if series! But I have to wonder… would Dumbledore and the Longbottoms allow Neville to go to Hogwarts? They wouldn’t be fooled by the false calm - they’d know very well that Voldemort was just biding his time. I hope that’s addressed in the next video.
Thank you so much for starting this what-if story. It's a great what if question and am highly interested in it. Congratulations on deciding to start this huge one. I am certain you guys can definitely do it over long enough period of time.
I can't wait for the story to evolve by the years. Wonderful job guys and it's just the beginning. However I got a question- Why did you skip the Philosopher's Stone? It is after all year 1 so I don't get it.
Nevil in year 1 in the original plot has Trevor and the Rememberball, which would still give Harry a spot as Seeker; he also gave his Nick Flamel Chocolate Frog card to Harry. Nick is not important since his Stone would be not be needed by Voldemort. I’m wondering about Draco in this new storyline. Neville is not a good flyer so perhaps Draco, offended that THE Neville Longbottom is a Gryffindor, still would mock him.
What about the Malfoys? The Weasleys? Tom Riddle's Diary? Ron? Hermione? Dean? Seamus? Fred and George? Percy? Ginny? Is the Sorcerer's Stone not destroyed, much less transferred from Gringotts to Hogwarts itself? The Basilisk? The Sword Of Gryffindor? Would this version of Harry have a different personality, more akin to Sirius, Remus, or his here-deceased father James?
This is such a neat movement activity. I’ll be walking ALL OVER a festival for a week in July, it’ll be the perfect opportunity to track how much walking I actually do there. 💗
I remember commenting how excited I was for this what If back during the what if lupin wasn’t a werewolf video and I’m so happy that it’s finally come into existence!!!!
Technically, he was, and he's also technically the one who kills voldermolt by killing the last horcrux. Even the author said it was a tossup between the two since they both fit the requirements
Dumbledore says that with the Fidelius charm, Voldy could be looking in the window of the Potter's house, but not be able to see them or get in. But he could know where it is.... So, maybe Voldy could have just blown up the village that the Longbottoms live in, killing everything and everyone instantly...
I do not know where I should leave an suggestion for the next What if. If you eaven take suggestion but I would love to see "what if james survived?" because I think it would make for an interesting story that is very different from the main story.
Other than Snape also bringing Harry along (he'd definitely just bring Lily but I still think that he'd tell Dumbledore where baby Harry was), this is spot on.
Confused on the Sirius couldn’t find them (with the house not being blown up) point as I was under the impression he knew where they were and had visited, he just couldn’t reveal the secret, but he could enter the house anyway
I legit would be curious if a movie, book or something (any genre not just Potter) revealed the Chosen One wasnt actually the Chosen One. That would be a twist.
This made me thing why Augusta was extra protective of Neville, aside from what happened to Frank and Alice. Like, she was too scared to let Neville out of her sight in fear of Voldemort finding him. :o Makes you see why he was raised that way.
Nice work! My immediate thought was "there is no chosen one without Snape" because without Snape Voldomor would have just killed Lilly outright. But this is a really good way to make it work with Neville. Although without the protection of love he is a lot worse off.
I was seriously happy to just see the video about Neville..... It's very hard to see the other chosen one a spotlight..... But when you said next episode🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 my mind was blown✨✨✨ thank you soo much
Btw Harry is more of a Pureblood then Voldemort, seeing Harry mum is a Muggleborn witch and his dad is Pureblood wizard, but Voldemort dad is a Muggle and his mum Pureblood witch.
If Dumbledore was the secret keeper how did the Longbottoms get attacked in canon? Personally I would think that in that case maybe Dumbledore lifted the Fidelius after Voldemort’s defeat or the Longbottoms went out themselves. Maybe there are other possibilities?
I’ve been looking forward to this😃 I haven’t been this excited for a What If? story since your Harry sorted into Slytherin story. This What If? is gonna be amazing I can feel it.
I don't think Voldemort would just give up, if he couldn't find Neville. After all, he was getting closer and closer to taking over the Ministry anyway in the First Wizarding War. What's important here is if he can manage to beat back the likes of Barty Crouch Sr. and Albus Dumbledore or not. If he can, or even if he can take the Ministry, Neville would basically be growing up in a Voldemort-run world.
During the '10-year-wait', Voldemort will definitely try to sneak in as many agents as possible in Hogwarts. A new teacher, maybe a helper to Hagrid, a new ghost?
He would also introduce sleepers into the Ministry. If Crouch Junior hadn't been captured, this would be to Voldy's advantage: it would mean that his father's reputation wouldn't have been ruined, so Crouch Senior would indeed become Minister, and his son would also rise in the Ministry (the Ministry, as described in the main story, is rife with corruption, so a little nepotism wouldn't be a problem -- and also, Crouch Junior would have enough talent to justify his promotion even if he werent' the Minister's son). I can imagine Voldemort actually instructing Crouch Junior to be overtly affectionate, or at least respectful, towards his father, so that he would indeed be well-placed to act as a sleeper agent for in due course.
It's sad that some of movie-fans doesn't know that Neville could be a Chosen One too
Because he can not be. To be a chosen one, he would need to be attacked by Voldemort, but because Neville's mother could not sacrifice her life for that of Neville, because she will not be given the choice by Voldemort, because Snape would not beg for her, he would have no love protection, thus he would die. So excited for more, I love the alternative story line videos
This has to to be the most requested what if
Can’t wait to see what happens next
Can we just appreciate the fact the good people at scb are making video fan fiction for our viewing pleasure
If this is gonna become a whole series I am here for it. I love these What If videos.
Darn starting an awesome theory series right before I leave for the summer! I guess I get to enjoy the whole thing afterwards 😅 so excited!
I have always pondered about this "what if..." on multiple occasions. Glad you two are finally going to cover your take on it in detail. Can't wait for the rest of this series!
I expect to see lots of fan art of book covers and movie posters for the Neville Longbottom series! Make it happen!
Ever since you guys started doing "what if..." videos I've dreamed that you'd cover this, and now I'm so excited to see how it goes. Thank you guys for all the work you put into these!
A week?! I saw that coming, but that doesn't make it any easier! So excited for this one. Thanks, brothers!
9:50 the way I almost started crying!!! Yes please this is all I’ve ever wanted to happen
Hi J!
I hope this turns into a full series!
Thanks J and Ben for supporting and promoting the Trevor Project!! Their organization has saved my life, literally, and given me hope for a bright future.
dude that guys who's comments I always see asking for this is gonna be ecstatic
I'VE BEEN WAITED FOR THIS ONE FOREVERRRRRRRRRR-
THANK YOU BROTHERS!!!!
I was so nervous this was going to be a one parter but I'm so happy it's a full on story! I love these!!!!
Neither Frank nor Alice would have been given the option of standing aside and saving theirselves, so Neville would have been murdered.
Somehow they have to. The prophecy must be fulfilled Nevil has to be marked as his equal and have power the dark lord knows not.
Sure right, because Grandmothers can't love their grandchildren enough to die protecting them.
Aaahhh! I'm so excited for this series! It was fun seeing how things would've been different if Harry was in Slytherin, so I can't wait how things will change with Neville as the chosen one.
It happened! I couldn’t wait for this one!
these long video series like the Harry in Slytherin ones are the most exciting ones to me.
So excited for another 7-8 parter!
Still hoping you continue Scabious Snape's story tho
SUUUUUUPER excited for this new what-if series! But I have to wonder… would Dumbledore and the Longbottoms allow Neville to go to Hogwarts? They wouldn’t be fooled by the false calm - they’d know very well that Voldemort was just biding his time. I hope that’s addressed in the next video.
yeeeees I knew this was coming!!
Thank you so much for starting this what-if story. It's a great what if question and am highly interested in it. Congratulations on deciding to start this huge one. I am certain you guys can definitely do it over long enough period of time.
Can’t wait to watch it love your guys videos keep doing what your doing ❤
In my head cannon because he was raised by Sirius, Harry has been spoiled and is fairly plump and/or has flowing locks just like his godfather.
Ohhh I saw a lot of people requesting this one! Can't wait :D
I have been waiting for this what if for a while now. Thank you for finally doing it. 😁
You should do What If There was No Chosen one.
Either The Prophecy had never been heard by Dumbledore or It never existed at all.
I’ve wondered the answer to this question since the very first time I read these books, so thank you so much J
This was very well written. Please do more parts.
ohh juicy another multipart series! Looking very much forward to the rest of this!
Great setup, guys. I'm very excited for another full length SCB series. Will there be any art submissions this time?
Can’t wait for part 2!!
I’ve been waiting for this for a year and wow you guys delivered
A widowed Lily who has been driven to insanity? Those are the best odds Snape has ever had
💀
Got a jacked up leg so watching a new HP Super Carlin video is always a great thing to cheer up
I'm so happy you guys are doing this! I've wanted it for so long
God, I love these "what if" videos. You guys should write a book, seriously. Your stories and story telling is balls to the wall awesome!!!
I'm exited, it'd be so amazing if you made Sirius and Remus co-parent Harry
I always have the funny belief that Harry would actually be a great Slytherin. It’d be fun if that still applied here but, you know.
Tell me I ain’t the only one who noticed J say “moot point” and my mind was filled with Joey saying moo point 🤣
The second book would be called "Nevile Longbottom and getting stuck on a chandelier. "
I've been waiting for this one ever since they started doing these "what if" videos!
YO been asking for this one for awhile. Glad to finally see it!

"What if he chosen differently?"
😂 I'm sorry J
#TeamJForever
We knew it was coming. Very excited to se what you guys came up with!
Love the project at the end! Sounds so fun.
I've been waiting for this one. So pumped to see where this goes.
This is something that ive been waiting to see discussed for so long
I do not know where I should leave an suggestion for the next What if.
I was literally going to suggest this as a video series lol. Really looking forward to it.
I am rewatching What if Harry was in Slytherin, and this is your reminder to do the same!
Confused on the Sirius couldn’t find them (with the house not being blown up) point as I was under the impression he knew where they were and had visited, he just couldn’t reveal the secret, but he could enter the house anyway
As soon as I saw this I clicked on it because I’ve been waiting forever for this. I can’t wait
We have all been waiting for this one
But when you said next episode🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 my mind was blown✨✨✨ thank you soo much
Neville always was and always will be my mostest favoritestest in the whole entire world. Thanks for thinking of him!
I love J's what if series. J you are such a fantastic story teller
I want this to be a book series now, so I can read them.
I've been looking forward to this video for so long!
I’ve been looking forward to this😃
I haven’t been this excited for a What If? story since your Harry sorted into Slytherin story.
This What If? is gonna be amazing I can feel it.
YES! THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR! I can't wait to see what you guys have come up with!
Love the series! It's like fanfiction but in podcast version
