Thanks for this content. The 1975 Indy 500 was my first of many, (my dad's first race was 1959) I was 8 years old and in heaven. There is no better way to spend Memorial Day weekend. Although I remember dashing back to the car, soaking wet.....RIP Uncle Bobby, you Legend!

Wow yeah definitely a wet one for your first one! But yeah the Indy 500 is as they say the greatest spectacle in racing and just such a great race! Glad you enjoyed the video! And a legend indeed!

Oh Mike, I'm thrilled that you got Uncle Bobby up here so soon after his passing. It was all you could do to fit all his achievements into 22 minutes. I'm sure it would be easy to make another 22 minutes with other accomplishments and anecdotes. I'm glad you've adopted him as your Uncle Bobby too.. He'd be thrilled, he never met a stranger.. Thank you for bumping him up in the queue so you could do his bio during the month of May!!! ,RIP Uncle Bobby - if you can.

No problem at all Greg! Glad you enjoyed it and someone requested it last week and it seemed the right time to do a video on him! A legend of the sport and a legend of the speedway!

Hello guys, great to write you both again. Mike, I so appreciate this very heartfelt tribute to one of the icons of American open wheel racing. I was fortunate enough to meet both Uncle Bobby and Al Sr. at different occasions over the years. Both men were a treat to speak with as they were tremendous with their fans and always took the time to acknowledge me personally. I still have a photo which was taken (by my good friend Tom Tucker also a huge racing fan - RIP Tom) in 2003 @ the Las Vegas SEMA show , a national automotive convention. There I stood between the Great Bobby Unser and P.J. Jones (Parnelli's oldest son). That moment was the highlight of the week for me. I do hope to meet with Al Unser Jr., "Little Al", sometime in the future as he has been one of my heroes for nearly 40 years. All in all, this was another of your tremendous efforts and a wonderful tribute to one of the "Biggest" personalities in the 20th century American Automobile racing! Keeep Racing! Cheers, Tim.

So well done !Truly a brilliant racer. I remember watching the 74 Indy on tape delay and loved the Jorgenson Eagle driven by Bobby Unser. Quite the racer and there was none better, all one had to do was ask Bobby! Thanks for the trip down memory lane....awesome!

Great piece! My older brother got Uncle Bobby's autograph at the 1967 Langhorne 150. My hero won that one (Mario Andretti) - ironic.

Great tribute guys! Years ago I got to spend the week at Pikes Peak filming with Bobby and his son Robby - just a blast!!! Riding up and down the old dirt road with a camera on my shoulder and Robby (at age 20) drifting sideways in his Audi Quattro through every turn was insane! Bobby was a legend from my childhood and I was so intimidated every time I had to film him but he was very gracious as were the entire Unser family.

Ah Lance glad you enjoyed it and thankyou for the comment! What an incredible experience to film those two at Pikes Peak! No surprise about Bobby and the Unser family they do just seem lovely people! What a memory to have though!

RIP Al Unser, guess he missed his brother Bobby too much. You were two of the very best. I'm glad Al was around for Helio's win this past May... We're losing our heros folks. Indycar is better because we had Bobby and Al Unser.

If you get a chance, track down one of Marshall Pruett's podcasts with Uncle Bobby or his Dinner with Racers interview, and you'll get a good feel for him. As great a racer and broadcaster he was, he was even BIGGER personally. Always willing to talk. NO ONE could tell a bigger story than Uncle Bobby (although most were about 50% truth and 50% embellishment.)

Took me a while to find this. Here's a short clip of Uncle Bobby surviving what should have been a fatality. Just like Grosjean, it wasn't his time. There were no halos or aeroscreens in 1965. Scary, but he walks away. twitter.com/Basso488/status/1333282108308135937
