You can question Bobby's re-interpretation of the USAC rulebook (Indy in 1981), but for certain sure there is NO WAY Bobby and his friend could have known exactly where they were going in a BLIZZARD! I'm sure they couldn't have seen their own hands in front of their own faces.
And this was 15 years ago. The Anti-Justice Department has only gotten worse since then.

Listen to the Dinner w/ Racers podcast. In the second half of the Bobby Unser episode they talk about this story. Well worth the listen.

All that because 2 guys drove their snowmobiles on state land? I wonder if there is more to the story.

We don't have the rule of law anymore-we have the rule of lawyers.

No mention of how he went from being totally sick to out of the situation?

    Dear TruTV:
I know that you are going to bring back "Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura" sometime in 2012. If so, could you include Bobby Unser's arrest for illegal parking of a snowmobile in a wilderness area. TruTV fans would love it!

As a Canadian I will not tolerate messing with a snowmobiler!

Got to agree with you here. Had something along those lines myself with state law.

The government waste this much time and money on whether or not his snowmobile was on wilderness land. When you are riding around in the middle of nowhere how can you tell. Is it clearly marked?

Truly a raw deal for Unser at the hands of an out of control government and judiciary. One correction though. Bobby Unser, by his own admission in a Sports Illustrated article, admitted that he and his brothers (when young) routinely stole automobile parts from other car owners, and rationalized it by saying it couldn't be wrong if they didn't get caught. Whether you see these misdeeds as trivial or not, this is hardly a spotless past, nor the attitude you would want from a neighbor.

Oh poor Bobby. Cheated at Indy in 81, went into the wilderness area illegally. Do the crime, pay the fine. The whole Unser clan always smelled like something rotten.
