Glad you have made this so everything is up to date in the newest version of KeyShot. Students can find it hard to watch old tutorials and do the same in the updated UI where more established users know where things are and what they changed to.
I would not recommend Blender if you're going to use KeyShot. KeyShot is often used with CAD modeling software. If you're going to learn Blender, there's a free built-in render engine called Cycles, which you could use instead of KeyShot.
That's odd. Make sure nothing is selected, then hover your mouse over an object and try. Still not working? If nothing is selected and there's nothing under your mouse, then it should bring up the move tool asking what you want to select. Finally, failing all else, check the keyboard shortcuts. Press k and go into the setup (button bottom right) and search for move and see if there's a key mapped to that command. If not, I'd guess it's a bug. But that would be a pretty massive bug. I'd be eager to know what you find. Also, if you're on an old version of KeyShot, like... quite old, then there's a chance your version predates that feature.
KeyShot? It's the sole focus of my business, so I see it as a business expense. If I didn't pay for KeyShot, I would have nothing to teach. KeyShot may cost about $1200/yr, but it earns me more than 100x that per year, so it's a worthy investment.
I hope it didn't come across as a brag, just trying to answer your question directly. IMO, if you earn more $ with something than you paid for it, it was a worthy investment. Currently, my income only comes from online course sales and consulting to other businesses.

How do I change the size of my Gismo. When I added the label the Gismo was very big.
You should be able to change it inside the preferences. Edit>Preferences>Interface 'move tool gizmo scale'
What software should I learn for 3D modeling? Is Blender a good choice for modeling and rendering in KeyShot? Any recommendations?

i keep getting read error 27 and some of my parts wont load when in an assembly. are these linked occurances?
Is it with the model I supplied for the tutorial, or some other model you're working with?

One thing I forgot to ask you, this thing is incredibly expensive, how you compensate that level of price tag?

@WillGibbons cool, good for you. What business services you offer?
