I bought a Hellcat last week and had a choice between the Hellcat and the Sig. Without having fired either one, all I could base my purchase on was a few reviews I had seen on both, and the examination I had at the time. My take on the two was: 1. I have large hands and the Hellcat felt better with the wider grip...even though the narrower Sig would have been slightly easier to conceal. 2. I liked the rear sight of the Hellcat. It seemed more visible and had a better sight picture (to me, anyway). 3. The dealer had a special going on. With the Hellcat, not only did I get a very good price, it came with an 11 round magazine, a 13 round magazine, and FOUR 15 round magazines.

@@jason200912 According to what I have found, the width of the Hellcat and the P365 are actually the same. Either way, the Hellccat just felt better in my hands. Maybe it was because the grip is ever so slightly longer from the back to the front of the grip on the Hellcat. But what difference should it make to you. I picked the Hellcat without your input.

My EDC is a Sig p365 and I dearly love it. Also have a Springfield 911 in .380 which was my EDC until I bought the 365. Surprisingly they are close to the same size except in width. The 911 is now a b/u but still well liked. Intrigued with the Hellcat but don’t anticipate trying it. The p365 is a perfect pocket gun as far as I’m concerned with the nicest trigger of any gun I’ve ever shot. Absolutely love it. Springfield triggers don’t feel as nice as the Sig. At 83 years old, feel like I’ve found my perfect gun after.nearly 70 years of shooting.

Great contrast and compare, I have also put quite a few rounds through the Sig P365 and P365XL and the XL remains my carry gun to this day due to my large hands and getting a better grip on the XL. I really enjoy it and I shoot it extremely well.

When trying to figure out my next EDC I rented both of these and 400rds of 9mm. After some general shooting and running some drills the Hellcat, in my hands, thumped the P365. It was more controllable and more accurate. In an EDC that all that matters. Needless to say I bought the Hellcat. I have a friend that carries the P365 that I go the range with regularly. After shooting my Hellcat he actually shelved his SIG and got himself a Hellcat. Both pistols are great options, but the Hellcat is just a better pistol in my opinion.

Great review and points made. Shot both back to back and found that I shot the Hellcat better - picked up the sights quicker. XL hands mean the larger beavertail on the Hellcat prevents the slidebite I was getting with the 365. If you have larger hands, be sure you shoot the 365 before buying. The 365XL has a larger beavertail if you're a sig fan, and it's a great shooter.

I personally think the snappiness of the Hellcat recoil negates some of the Hellcat’s own best features. It almost doesn’t matter if the hellcat fits better in your hand because it’s inherently harder to control by design.
Also, when there’s so little to differentiate the guns, things like the trigger start to matter a lot more IMO. In this case, I prefer the Sig. But that’s personal taste.

I shot my Hellcat side by side with my PPQ and Glock 45 9mm’s and didn’t really notice much more “snap” than either of those. I haven’t shot the Sig but the gun doesn’t recoil much for me. Very controllable. Mag dumps staying on a 10” steel plate from 7 - 10 yards. The trigger feels really smooth for me and naturally pulls straight back for me, which is one reason why I chose it over the Sig. In my opinion, the Hellcat has better sights, it has a higher capacity, is shorter, better grip, better firing pin (no primer drag) and is the better weapon.

Right now I use a Glaco Sto N go that I had for my XDS I use to carry and it happens to fit it perfectly. As far as belts I just use a standard leather belt from Kohl’s. If I was carrying something heavier I’d buy a specific carry built but this 365 is so light there’s just no need to have to get a super stiff belt.

@ I don't like manual safeties or grip safeties on a defensive pistol. I don't want to be fumbling to disengage a manual safety if I am drawing a gun for a defensive purpose, especially from pocket carry. With grip safeties you always have to have a good grip but you don't always have an opportunity to use a good grip in a defensive situation. Just one more step to take a little more time and that something can go wrong. I prefer a trigger safety that is part of the natural action of putting the gun into operation but still gives a little more safety against an accidental discharge. Like I said, I'm a SIG fan, if they came out with a factory version of the 365 with a safe trigger action I'd buy one.

I went to purchase the Sig P365 or P365XL. The XL trigger is real nice and I felt the best of the three (including the Hellcat). The XL had a sweet sight picture and came within seconds from purchasing it. Then my gun guy said he just opened a Hellcat and I should check it out. What sold me on the Hellcat was running the firearms through function checks. The Hellcat was smooth and both Sigs were stiff and would not run a function check as "most" handguns would. I love Sigs. My P226 MK25 is probably the sweetest firearm I have ever owned. I shoot it great and love how it agrees with my sight picture. I really wanted to love the P365, but I could not get the 365 or XL to run standard function checks that 90%of handguns run. Neither firearm would cycle the slide with the trigger pulled to test the reset and both were extremely stiff to cycle. Perhaps I was doing something wrong, but the shop owner was just as confused. The Hellcat was smoother all around and after shooting it, I was not disappointed. I would say I am a bit above average shooter and was hitting 10 out of 13 round into 10" steel from 25 yards and fist sized groups at 12 yards. I have about 300 rounds through it and no issues out of the box. The mags are a bit stiff to load, but with my Glock mag loader its no issues. I sold all my single stacks due to the limited round capacity, accuracy, and snappiness when shooting, but missed the ease of carry in the summer. Real happy with the Hellcat. Easy to shoot, 13/1 or 11/1 capacity, accurate, and terrific sight picture. The trigger issue....easy fix. A buddy said why would you buy a handgun you have to fix or adjust, (I had learned of the trigger issue after I bought it, and it does exist) but why buy a Glock then polish or replace the trigger, replace the springs, firing pin, and other trigger parts.....Its what gun junkies do! I feel the chance of an accidental discharge on such a light trigger without a safety is more worrying to me than a well placed and positive clicking safety like the p365 has, which I can train with until it is second nature to flick off. The only time I don't need a safety is on a double action revolver, or a DA/Sa pistol

@DV8 *** I don't feel a need for a manual safety. Even without one you usually have about 4 ways to prevent the gun from firing. The first safety is your finger, the second is the trigger safety, the third is your holster, and fourth is the internal firing pin block. Why on earth would you need five?

DV8 *** if you dont touch the trigger, how will the gun go off? If you dont pull the trigger almost all the way back to remove the firing pin block, how could it go off? If the trigger is covered by an IWB holster, how will it go off?

I like that the P365 does more with less in some respects . The hellcat is longer but has a shorter barrel than the Sig . The Hellcat is taller but you get all your fingers on the sig . I just bought the new to the California Roster Sig P 365 with manual safety . I love the way it feels and shoots .

Croatians make good guns, they should stop doing business with "S.A." as should you. North American branch of Sig's QC is slightly better than a craps shoot. My 320 works, their rifles quite often do not,

I rented the HC and P365 liked them both but for different things and the HC can be a bit snappy but after a few clips it is a small issue, there is clip extensions for both that makes the target acquisition better as you train.

Sig is sexy. Smooth and best trigger on the market. Would like to grab an xl. Sold my NRA edition 365 regretted ever since. Just put a hellcat on layaway. Not a fan of grip safety and Springfield fixed it with this. Plus I love the heckcat sights. Been wanting to try it. Feels more durable than the sig. I know I will probably shoot the sig better but the hellcat was 100 dollars cheaper and more suitable to my personal taste.

The Hellcat has a noticeably higher bore axis, which is why it feels "jumpy-er" . A higher bore axis results in more muzzle flip.

Certainly nothing against either weapon... What amazes me is that magguts has been adding rounds to magazines for years... And I can take my shield 2.0 and carry with 10 rounds or 11 depending on which mag i have in with the magguts + 2 spring system. And for me personally The shield is weapon of choice especially with 10 or 11 rounds. But I'm sure both of these are fine handguns.

Just wanted to say as far as the night sights go that some people would recommend a single large dot up front for easy fast aiming in a stressful situation. So personally I like the idea of a single less busy glowing dot up front to help in low light conditions and short distances like in concealed carry.
