Would probably be nice to try and get the 4x4 Datsun for the 4wd components for the half haul… make it easier to modify then build outright.

If you weren't set on a truck, behind that first Datsun was a mid-70'ish Opal GT. Those are fun little cars to drive. Especially if it has the fuel injected engine.

depending on the frame id say you might have all the parts you need to make the half haul a 4wd

Use the 4wd components for the Half Haul
Skip the Datsun and pick the Opel Kadet in the background. They are sporty and make good customs. Jim Stewart @ Corvette Center, OKC, did one several years ago and it was a beauty with a Custom Paint Job. Sky's the limit for engine swaps.

I think it would be a really cool build to create a 4x4 mini truck service truck. Get rid of the bed and build a custom bed with tool boxes, small air compressor, small bed crane/cherry picker, push bumper, winch, etc. Something to easily drive around unpaved roads/properties, ready to go with tools, capable of towing/pulling/pushing, etc.
I know you’re saying it’s rough and you want to convert that half haul into a 4x4 but that Datsun a good clean up it’s complete just fix the floors which I know you looooovvvvveeee lol and just put some wheels good suspension some bad ass stickers and make that your 4x4 new shop truck for the new place and it’ll be great content. We’d all love to see lol. Big fan from Southern California!

I’ve got an 83 Datsun 720 that’s running and driving complete if you’re interested in it. The cab is burnt orange but the bed was painted black.

Good idea to pass. It is hard to find and I'm glad you realize you have enough of them at the moment. I definitely agree it's too rough around the edges, especially for a giveaway vehicle.

The 620 never came as a 4x4 factory. There were companies that made kits to make it into a 4x4, but this appears to be a Datsun 720 frame with a 620 body bolted on.
Definitely voting for buy, have you ever thought about putting a tdi or similar small 4cyl diesel in it or another similar truck?
just 2 freaking days ago I picked up a 1972 Datsun 620 King Cab!!!! The seller started to swap in a KA2.4DE from a 1996 240SX with the 5 speed manual from the 240. he sat the engine on the mounts in the truck, bought all the special swap/conversion parts, and a full four corner disc brake conversion with all the brake parts needed. thousands of dollars in parts..... then his wife told him he didnt have time for projects anymore, and its been sitting for years. I picked it up for $1,000!!!

I would be surprised if Puddin passes that dark blue one & it would be cool if he made a custom tailgate for it or put a u-Haul box on it. It has an automatic & be a great giveaway sense most people don’t know how to drive manual.

Throw an old RV shell on the back of the extra cab Datsun… Gut the RV part and give it some shelves and lights and dump something simple yet peppy like a 22r in it as a Merch van. Bag it… 🤷🏻 It would be a fun Frankenstein’d little project. Would also kinda fit the box truck thing you have going on.

I had the 2wd version of this many years ago, red king cab. Was a sweet truck. I sold it when the family came and the front fenders flapped in the wind.
I'm not tired of black T shirts. I just ordered another one today for my going to town wardrobe.
Mirrors not factory, 4x4 not factory but can be a dealer provided conversion. Probably jeep drive train. 1979, 720 steering column. Chrome trim pieces are what you want

Definitely a rare truck. Frame rot killed a lot of old Datsun and Yota trucks. I’ve seen the frames break in two , the leaf spring mounts crumble out of the frame. Body rust is one thing but frame rot is a death sentence. My guess is that it would have some useful parts on it like the front diff and transfer case.
Always like the videos at the salvage yard. Like seeing GMC behind the Datsun 4 wheel drive, reminds me of the C 10 Chevy I owned in the 1970s, brings back some good memories when I was in Kansas.
That 2000 Chevy Silverado that says save looks pretty sweet

Got a 94' Chevy conversion van, Perfect interior and exterior. If you find one, definitely look at the engines in those beasts.
And they are fun to drive as well!

Buy it! Slap a little lift on and some mud tires and have yourself a little mudder/ property rig maybe even build a little flatbed for it instead of fixin that pesky rust amd it comes with a sassy coleman cooler!?!? Thats a deal for me would be good to go with your red one

Datsun never had a 4x4 till 1980 and the new for the time “720” series.
The steering wheel and cover is from a 720.
All pre 80 Datsun’s were conversions.
Friend of mine had the same color kingcab 78!
Also 4x4.
79 was first year for disc brakes!
