Great video! Question, do you guys not find the Aputure 60X too bright and blinding to the couple and crowd?

nope! I have 12 foot stands and angle the lights down more. I also have the app that allows me to dim the lights, as well as turn them off and on when I am not using them so it makes it that much easier for me

How would someone approach the scenario you guys described with planners at luxury weddings banning videographers' lights? I know John mentioned someone may hold up a light with one hand, but that would require being super close for it to have any effect.

Has anyone used Nanlite Forza 60b or Amaran 60x to light speeches/receptions?

An alternative to buying bi-color lights is to gel it. (CTO)

This can be an unnecessary complication. You now have to buy or build gel holders that are practical and aesthetically pleasing.
Bi-color lights are ideal for the run and gun wedding scenario.

yeah, that is true, but also another step for people

I use the nanlite forza 300 with a fresnel. I cut a rosco CTO gel sheet in a circle to match the fresnel and put velco to easy attach and detach. Not a complication and looks aesthetically pleasing since it sits on the fresnel. Just an idea for those of us that can't afford the bi-color option or making use with what we already have.

Do you use spot or flood for the lights? Was always wondering what makes the most sense to set them to for speeches

The BEST toast lighting tutorial I've ever seen. I remember when I was first getting started and watched SOOOO many "how to light a reception" videos and they never answered what I needed to know. Fast forward to now, I know all of this information but for others to find this video and learn everything they need to know is going to a GAME-CHANGER. We invested into 3 Aputure 60x's in early 2022 and we constantly say that they are the real wedding MVPs. We love them and so do most photographers we work with (many end up buying some themselves afterward). 🤍

My only question is how do you all secure the light stands? Sandbags?
