I actually think the sequence from 9:00 or so onwards with the ceiling monster could be really damn effective in another game: the monster running on the roof provides a surreal creepiness, the fact that you have to choose between looking at the creature or looking in front of you creates a nice dilemma and it falling on you allows for a screen encompassing jump-scare that doesn't feel half as forced as most cheap horror games. Shame the creature isn't scary in the slightest.
And why do you want to look at monster? In basic horror games monster is chasing behind you, and you have to choose looking where you going or looking at monster, what are you talking about?
it's really funny to me how the models in this game are so unbelievably un-optimized that the remote you hold for the entire god damn game has more polygons that the entirety of mario 64 lmfao. also the blue spider is literally just a raw unedited sculpt model from what i've heard lol

Having developed games for quite a few years, there's a lot of stuff you can pick up on that explains a lot of the jank in Garten of Banban. The assets not fitting together is because Unreal marketplace exists and offers a lot of HD free models, but they have no cohesive art direction. Also, you can tell it's a UE4 game because of the motionblur and physiscs (just create a fps project template and you'll understand) The drone not being able to collide with breakable glass made me laugh out loud, because what probably led them to implementing this was that if the drone wa pointed at the glass, it would stop before it could collide with it. So instead of detecting the type of glass (which they already do) and adding some logic to the drone to make it fly slightly forward, they came up with this extra convoluted system. There's a lot more that's actually really interesting because it can give you a lot of insight into what the behind-the-scenes of the game look like, and the intention of the devs.
Is there really much reason to look that deeply into such a bare-bones game that was clearly made to make a quick buck? People should have ignored this games existence so it could fall into obscurity. Cool insight, though, just wrong game to do it on, lol

I legit thought it was somewhat charming of two brothers simply wanting to try their best at the Mascot Horror games. Then I realized it was 6$. Then I found out they cried to Twitter bc of refunds. Then I realized they that they act like this game is actually good.
There's something really ironic about Garten of Banban being infamous for the content trend milking meanwhile every single gaming documentary channel is kind of mirroring that by making videos on the series for milking, not to point le bad to the channels but I just find that really poetic, like sure they shit on the game but this is honestly just a win win for all sides because the dev gets publicity and the channels have content to create and gain views out of.
Literally was the last straw for me. I wanted to believe that they just didn’t have the strength to show their passion, but after finding out the price, their thoughts on the game, I just lost hope. If you wanted to make money, make a game people would want to pay for, or if you can’t muster that, atleast fill it with enough content to last two hours to scam people.

I love that there's a random 8k unreal engine professionally modeled coffee machine as some random background prop in one of the rooms, while the entire game you're holding a radio thing that's _literally_ 4 shapes stuck together with 2 plain colored textures.
And the remote itself has thousands of polygons somehow. How do you spend THAT much fucking time modeling a single asset and not thinking if it looks good at all or if it really needs that many polygons?

This is like the beginning test animations for movies. This video game is unfinished but it’s asking for peoples money. There is no promise of finishing it or making the style more streamlined. It’s a mish mash of different styles and designs all in a realistic looking engine. I think this game could have had potential, maybe exploring flaws within the school system and the way children are taught toxic social structures. Maybe the monsters could symbolize different stereotypes instead of being weirdly realistic nick junior characters. Unfortunately it appears this is the final product. Maybe the developer will gain more experience and try to redo the game completely with a more cohesive narrative and style but as is I’m not selling my beans for this thing. Thank you Pyro for sacrificing your money given to you by other people and UA-cam for letting me not sell my beans.

So from what I've learned, one reason the game is so unoptimized and laggy at times is because the models in the game have INSANE polygon counts. Banban has a polygon count well beyond the Ink demon from BATDR. Models like Jumbo Josh, Banbalina, the drone and the fucking remote of all things have the same issues. Nabnab, the blue spider thing, is literally a RAW SCULPT, which is MAD. One GOB model probably has more polygons than the entirety of LOZ Ocarina of Time LMAO. How the Euphoric brothers were even able to open up UE4 to work on this game with those models imported is just madness

BanBan sounds kinda milquetoast. You'd think his voice would be more like a deranged cartoon character.
So from what I've learned, one reason the game is so unoptimized and laggy at times is because the models in the game have INSANE polygon counts. Banban has a polygon count well beyond the Ink demon from BATDR. Models like Jumbo Josh, Banbalina, the drone and the fucking remote of all things have the same issues. Nabnab, the blue spider thing, is literally a RAW SCULPT, which is MAD. One GOB model probably has more polygons than the entirety of LOZ Ocarina of Time LMAO. How the Euphoric brothers were even able to open up UE4 to work on this game with those models imported is just madness
