thank you again for this lesson
I have been subscribed to you for years, i love your content.
🫡 This would be HOOAH if it doubled as a fire starter... would love to run some ideas by you! But I'm sure you prolly get sick of hearing that.
Bring it brother!! Support you 110%.
Corporal if we (the U.S.A.) had more men like you, I feel our country would be a better place!! Proud to know you through your channel. Keep on pushing brother!
I'd feal it
I use a branch 😂
Or a regular nail...
But then you have to forge the whole tree… and that’s a LOT of work ;)
@@ELPRES1DENTE45not a good idea to smash nails in trees
Why damage the tree when a couple feet of Paracord and a toggle will do just as well and cause no damage. Whatever happened to leave no trace or is it all just about selling product? I'm disappointed...
@@PeterPavlovicthey’re cucks don’t reason with them
A lashing strap works great. No damage to the tree.
Your own signature Mark, the twist.
im not a blacksmith..
but i love watching things being made by one !!!
COOL !
What a very cool idea for hanging items!!!👍👍👍. Way to go Shawn another Cush craft special from Corporals Corner. 😱👍👍👍😎
I’ll support the corporal!! If I’m lucky I’ll get me a hand full!! Nicely done brother!!
Awesome A.F would like to see a over nighter at the deer stand/cabin brother been a minute...
Tree huggers are going to hate it. But that's awesome!
Did you ever hugged a tree?
@@Ayka557 hugged? Absolutely as I throw it in the fire! 🔥😂
A drift hook was one of the first thing we learned to fab up in high school metal work. Yours is better looking than most I’ve seen.
For me it is beyond fascinating to see what was once a rock of iron heated and turned into a useful tool. Thx enjoyed this vid. Got my notice and still subscribed 4x4 at this end.
Old fabricator here, that was Shawntistic, great work!
Nice! As an aside, I once met a blacksmith that would do a final heat on something like that, and run it over with a brass wire brush to make it look like burnished gold.
Yes a handy tool to have with many uses. But I would stick it into a recently dead tree. Or could be used around the home driven into beams rafters etc.👍👍
Thanks for the midweek video!
See you Sunday!
That was a good little fun project. I'm going to make a few for myself. Thanks for sharing and nice work.
The sound of the Firing Forge and the Hammer on the Anvil.... the second best ASMR to the sound of Wind in the Trees and the Crackle of a Campfire!!! Thank you for passing on your blacksmithing skills - Awesome AF!
Cool build. See ya sunday
I made those to hang my lanterns on
Awesome . I can find may useful way to use the hook while camping with my grandkids.
A good way to make this multi use may be to harden and hone the point a bit so it can double as an awl. Cool concept. 👍
I'm sure you could make a cool looking lantern hanger using the same principle.
Err Ma Gerd! I can hear the tree huggers now. He's damaging the trees with that thing. :>) Good stuff!
Very Handy 👍
Very cool. The blacksmithing is very satisfying to watch.
As usual the next thing I didn't know I needed til now lol. I wish I had your anvil too!!!!
The "After action report" demonstrates that we all can learn to become better. Forever forward.
Cool little project. Please be careful of galvanize poisoning though. If I'm correct that key stock looked zinc coated and will give off poisonous fumes when heated or welded.
welded for years and never had a problem
Don't be stupid metal fume fever is a killer.
@@ihitwithhammer2839 My grandfather passed away last summer from pulmonary fibrosis. He was an iron worker and welder for years. The doctors believe that the fumes/gases and dust are what caused the condition. It is irreversible with not much they could do to help him, and it took him out fairly quickly.
Oh I LOVE 😍These Hook Nail’s Corporal, NICE JOB 👍🏻 on Creating Them❣️😉
🌼🐚🌸🕊️🪷🌷😁🌷🪷🕊️🌸🐚🌼
Corporal, I'll give you my like for the creativity and the hard work. I seem to remember you doing this with a twig/toggle and some bank line. No spiked trees on land that wasn't yours.
You gotta do, and I respect you and your commitment to your business.
Catch you Sunday!
Thank you for another awesome video.
Mr,Kelly. Awesome work on the hook!! Looks great!! Keep up the awesome work!!
Real nice piece you made there Shawn.
Those are cool,
But...
Collapsible deer stand ladder screws will do the same. No hammer needed.
Little spike going to kill all the trees lol.
Your craftsmanship is on point AF. I love watching you making the stuff you've literally made from scratch.
Cool idea. Nice to see the manufacturing process.
Awesome video Shawn 👍🥰🙏🇺🇸
Always a thumbs up 👍
Thank you for this video. Nifty device!
Fun fact: There is a pipe jaw on your vise. Inside of the main flat jaw are a pair of U shaped jaws facing each other specifically designed for holding pipe. It does require a longer piece of pipe for the way you're using it as a bending radius but it's way less likely to slip out than using the flat jaws.
Nice work you made that look easy
like everything else if you do the work it will be easier
Nice tool, good job!
Have to tell ya Kelly in your last few videos you truly seemed to be happy and enjoying what you're doing. I'm thinking it's because of the schools you're holding and in teaching survival skills. Hope you can continue this venue for quite a spell longer. Good video BTW.
Great innovation. De Oppresso Liber
Outstanding and awesome as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Very cool project.
I have to admit I do like that you need to get that out with a lot of them right before the maple syrup season starts so I bet you they swoop on those as fast as you could make them
Nice bit of kit.
I was surprised you didn't do a heat / oil quench to harden it.
nails are not hardened, if they were then they would shear off
Cool project
Great job, good idea!
Corp, you come up with some great ideas either yourself or with other companies... Not sure about this one... You can hang gear up (I think you have probably done it) without smacking things into live trees? Others have said the same... Just a thought.
This is very cool and awesome keep it up
Before taking early retirement in SE Asia, I lived in a log cabin as did my neighbor across the road. In his forge house, he made a variation of these hooks. The end where the nail or spike was forged, was instead flattened or "spooned." This allowed us to drive the hook in between the logs of our cabins. When you wanted to move a hook to a new location, no problem. Simply pull the hook and cover the spot where the hook used to be with you favorite chinking compound. There was no damage or holes in the logs. We also made up support brackets for small shelves in the same manner.
This mid week, I did miss somehow. I am making up for that now :)
Thanks corporal like the idea and the video God bless
Ingenious!!!! Never would have thought about making or using a hook like that.
Good idea would be to put some twists in the spike too, that way you can screw it into the tree deeper and it will hold more. I know because i got one like that, it has a screw part instead of a spike, i use it to hold my gear at home too.
Not a bad little piece of kit. Keep up the great work sir!!
Nailed it!!!!
Just bought the Camp Companion from Hardcore Hammers, it's a shame they did not honor the discount code on the pre-order for what I think is the perfect hatchet for my style of camping. Perfect weight, the handle is just right for me since I'm a smaller guy and that difference in length will balance perfectly. Looking forward to seeing what's in the Etsy store Sunday morning!
there never was a discount code, i have stated in all of my videos it is for free shipping
Nice!
That hook is classy and cool 👍
Thank you
Dude
Awesome!
Nice
The cool factor is important. I'm down with that. Not a bad thing to carry in a pack. Damn good work.
Artwork that's practical. Nice. If hardened & tempered perhaps it could double as a flint striker as well.
You are one of my favourites
Dude. You’ve gotten jacked. Been watching for a good few years now. But it’s been a minute. JACKED!
I like that going to have to get me one of them
Neat idea!!
Nice! Never figured you as the ‘artsy” type Corp. Nicely done!👍
That "twist" should be his signature. It matches the other iron work he's done. Nice.
Paracord and carabiner works better
Excellent idea. Well done 💯💯💯
Thanks Corporal. Excellent idea. Can never have too many of those I think ❤️🙏
Sweet little piece of kit. Thanks for sharing Shawn!
Great one, Shawn!
Sweet looking bit of kit. Good stuff.
You Sir, are a genius! And, obviously, an artist as well. --Dan
Love the forge videos as always
That is awesome. As always outstanding
I have heard of those being called a number 2 tree hook. There is another similar one called a number 7 tree hook.
Nicely done. I'm gonna have to make some.
I would use that for a fire starter and the nail point to drill my hole in fire board. Save my knife edge. Awesome!
Very nice.
The hook is cool AF!! Thank you for the great video.
Good stuff. I wish I had a forge and the knowledge of metallurgy. Along with plant medicine and identification. Hamm radios..etc. I'm hoping to get bottle and cup set one day, along with a sweatshirt, and all your stuff! Keep rocking it brother!
That came out really well, thanks Corporal
Outstanding AF Corp and God Bless America 🇺🇸💪🇺🇸💯
Nice work !
Outstanding
Always something useful and interesting.
Very functional. I need one of these. Keep doing what you do.,
Very neat! Will try and order one!
Very nice!👍🏻
I love all Corporals Corner videos!
Pretty cool 👍
