Take a look at the Goodisory A02 case for details. May not fit then on a typical ender 3, but it would likely still be printable on a ~260mm build surface
Fitting on an Ender 3 is in no way a requirement, I just like to make that option available whenever I can 😊 I looked up the Goodisory, that layout could definitely work for a future project 👍
@@arkapadma it would work, allthough, are hdd’s really necessary anymore in 2023? I’ll personally be leaning towards less hdd compatible builds in the future, especially as more and more stuff gets cloud based too.
@makerunit with new itx boards we are seeing that have two m.2 slots, i think m.2 SSDs are the way to go. The prices per TB have been dropping lately, making it even more enticing. The one constant, though, is reaching for the highest performance in a small form factor. Efficient cooling will always be ideal.
@@Kajukota exactly! Even in my last build I included hard drive space but at the cost of needing to use 92mm fans. Where I could have used a 140mm instead, but I wanted to have the option though I personally won’t use the drives myself. Could have probably skipped that 😅
I'd love to see a variant of this with a wall bumped out to fit an HDPLEX GaN PSU... If I ever get into 3D printing that sounds like a good first "real" project to take on.
If I had one I’d definitely do that! Perhaps I’ll buy one someday! The HDplex supply, at the moment I only have ATX and SFX available to use as reference unfortunately. 😅
I have not made a fullsize tower but I have a MicroATX tower in another video. Supporting «fullsize» GPUs and a 240 AIO 😊that’s the biggest one so far. Though a full size atx tower is on my to-do list definitely for the future 😊
The safest choice is PETG, relatively easy to print, easily available and can handle pretty high temps without issues. Though personally I haven’t had much issues with PLA either but I still mainly stick to PETG 😊 especially for a pretty hot design like this I’d definitely go PETG.

So if I ever get myself some of those I’d love to make a design with it. But at the moment I do not have those available 😊 but maybe in the future!

Yeah that one corner was a bit warped unfortunately. I struggle to keep the PETG completely stuck down. Even with ears the warping forces are insane. 😅
@@makerunit heated chamber is the best solution. Otherwise the best option is probably turning off part cooling, setting the bed temp really high (~90C) and printing thin layers at very high temperature (~255C)
@@Flapdr01 I normally have my printer in a closet so the temp gets pretty warm but not like 80-90 though, but for this one I just did some maintenance on my printer so I kept it out of the closet for this print too 😅
Nice case. Can I suggest a compact, micro-ATX _vertical_ case with support for a 2/3 slot, 3 fans, 30/32 cm GPU? They're sorely missing from the market, most vertical cases are m-ITX, but m-ITX boards are exceedingly expensive.

Right now I’m thinking about extending this design to be able to hold a graphics card as well. Like same or similar design just bigger. 😊
@@makerunitA flat, console style case would be cool, maybe to use as an old-school horizontal desktop replacement, but I think that something along the lines of the NZXT H1 would be the best. The overall volume of the case won't be small but the desk footprint would be minimal, and that's what it counts.

Wonder if it would make a bit of a difference for this extremely space limited cases, I watched an Optimum Tech video and there was a measurable difference, but he had more clearance in his case to even possibly go for a taller cpu cooler, but I think in this case you couldn't, so the duct would be the only option.
I feel like this is an example of just because you can, doesn't mean you shoiuld. if you reach the point of building a tiny pc where you have to buy an external PSU, you may as well just buy a mini PC for the added benefit of more ports and a smaller footprint.
Most Tiny PC’s can’t handle a 5700G though. Only the Asrock Deskmini x300 as far as I know exept from ITX boards. I actually have one already that I’m planning on building in later.

Hi! Thank you! The size of this case is unfortunately not big enough for a Micro ATX, and it would require a full redesign of the entire case for it to fit. I might make a micro atx case soon again but will most likely be with GPU support too so slightly bigger, also possibly an ATX power supply as well.
Yes, correct. There’s no way for the air to escape other than out to the sides but since they’re closed it forces the air back out again to the intake making it circulate it’s own exhaust. Some small exhaust fans to one side and some ducts for air to be forced out the other side might improve this.

I think you can get these 24 pin power adapters with higher ratings, though the biggest 12v external power brick I was able to find on Amazon was the 240w one… what CPU that’s suitable in that type of build draws that much power though? If I may ask 😊 remember in a build like this you probably should narrow down the CPU alternatives to ones that are capable with the Noctua L9i or L9a as these are the only coolers that would fit that I know of, which would mean any CPU with a 65w TDP rating 😊 usually these don’t draw that much power from what I know.
@@makerunit I wanted to design my own version of something like this, with my old computer's i7-3770k it should work with the Noctua L9i, and I have an old graphics card that draws 40w of power. it is the Quadro p620. I think what I will do is use one of the 1u server power supplies. It won't be as slim, however it'll be close

Honestly I think the Ender 3 printers are great beginners printers, but you will most likely need to do some manual calibration to get things running optimally, and the wheels will eventually wear out so the printer will need to be calibrated from time to time, but it’s a great way of learning how printers actually work. Unfortunately I have only experience with Creality printers so far and they do work very well but they need to be adjusted frequently to make sure the prints are optimal. I’d honestly just watch a bunch of reviews of the Ender 3 v2 neo and some of it’s competitors like Elegoo Neptune or Anycubic Kobra for example which will give you some ideas to what printer suits your needs the best. Also consider what types of prints you want go do as build volume might be a limiting factor if you want to print big stuff like PC cases. 😁
You can get a male to male adapter cable. It’s called a jumper cable 😊 or you could just connect the female directly to the motherboard if it’s long enough.

The connector type is called dupont connectors. You typically need a 4 pin cable to give power to the LED and the push itself. I hope you didn’t buy a male to male cable yet 🤞

It would be a little hard for me to make a case for this pc as it’s using a custom motherboard that I don’t have the specs for unfortunately. Mainly I build my cases around standard motherboards like ITX, mATX etc.
Seems like we meet here on your channel again first. The sim cut out is in violation of the ATX spec. To get its precise position and size, just download the 2.x version of the spec. The spec defines a 2,54mm keep out zone round the rear sim cutout. The wall thickness of that zone, should be at max around 1,2mm. Exact numbers is in the spec. In a proper modeled case, the sim will fit insanely tight. For a low tolerance build, you probably need to drop them brass standoffs. A properly designed printed case, has by far tighter tolerances than sheet metal cases. All your case walls are too thick. You could easily slim the design particularly at the rear side of the MB, using more modern techniques. Also, mesh is best designed in the slicer, not in the modeling cad. You currently design by strong couplings and loose cohesion.

That is strange, try rotating the part or use a different slicer profile. Over thousand people have downloaded this and none have had this issue as far as I know 😊 at least non reported. Let me know if it works out
@@Arek_R. that’s strange. I’ve never tested this file with Cura. Might be some geometry in there that cura somehow struggles with, happens sometimes. Are you able to print it with a Prusa profile? Because I can’t really think of any other ways to solve this. As the file itself looks just fine.
@@makerunit I can use Prusa it's just that I struggle using it, different settings laid out in a different weird way, quality comes a bit worse as well.
Nice design but air flow is kinda bad, hence your temps are high. Let me give you some suggestions... You should make holes in side panels so that your hot air will exit through it, otherwise same hot air will stuck inside the case.. Front panel has some holes but they don't let enough airflow.. I suggest that use other mesh design.. You can also make direct big hole for cpu fan, like this -> ua-cam.com/video/-yEgioZjgtE/v-deo.html
Thanks! Yeah I know the airflow isn’t 100% ideal. Funny thing the original design for this case was actually intended to be perforated on all four sides, and was made like that with holes in the sides so the air could escape, just like my cube case with a similar pattern, but somehow I decided to change my mind and close it up as I thought it looked cleaner. The intake duct like in the other video would definitely be an improvement allowing only fresh air into the case and forcing it through instead of back out. I’ll be sure to keep that in mind for my next compact builds 😊

The L9i isn’t known for having the greatest performance but it gets the job done in a compact package, though I agree it’s not optimal for all uses.

It would be a little hard for me to make a case for this pc as it’s using a custom motherboard that I don’t have the specs for unfortunately. Mainly I build my cases around standard motherboards like ITX, mATX etc.

Seems like we meet here on your channel again first.
The sim cut out is in violation of the ATX spec. To get its precise position and size, just download the 2.x version of the spec.
The spec defines a 2,54mm keep out zone round the rear sim cutout. The wall thickness of that zone, should be at max around 1,2mm. Exact numbers is in the spec. In a proper modeled case, the sim will fit insanely tight. For a low tolerance build, you probably need to drop them brass standoffs. A properly designed printed case, has by far tighter tolerances than sheet metal cases.
All your case walls are too thick. You could easily slim the design particularly at the rear side of the MB, using more modern techniques. Also, mesh is best designed in the slicer, not in the modeling cad. You currently design by strong couplings and loose cohesion.
Hi, thanks for the enlightenment, I was not aware of these specs. The only specs I’ve looked into were the mounting holes for the ITX motherboard. I’m still learning…
Cura cannot slice the main piece, it goes to 30% slicing progress and then gets stuck meanwhile my high end gaming CPU running at 100%
That is strange, try rotating the part or use a different slicer profile. Over thousand people have downloaded this and none have had this issue as far as I know 😊 at least non reported. Let me know if it works out
@@makerunit rotating doesn't help, it slices in Prusa slicer tho
@@Arek_R. that’s strange. I’ve never tested this file with Cura. Might be some geometry in there that cura somehow struggles with, happens sometimes. Are you able to print it with a Prusa profile? Because I can’t really think of any other ways to solve this. As the file itself looks just fine.
@@makerunit I can use Prusa it's just that I struggle using it, different settings laid out in a different weird way, quality comes a bit worse as well.
@@makerunit I've tried changing slicer settings and it didn't help either.
But I updated cura from 5.4.0 to 5.7.2 and it works now.

Hi. How did you create the big "ear" for greater adherence to the magnetic bed? Is a kind of brim?
Just made a circle on the corner and extruded it about 0.6mm or so. You can also take any model and add these in most slicers. 😊

Nice design but air flow is kinda bad, hence your temps are high. Let me give you some suggestions...
You should make holes in side panels so that your hot air will exit through it, otherwise same hot air will stuck inside the case..
Front panel has some holes but they don't let enough airflow.. I suggest that use other mesh design..

Thanks! Yeah I know the airflow isn’t 100% ideal. Funny thing the original design for this case was actually intended to be perforated on all four sides, and was made like that with holes in the sides so the air could escape, just like my cube case with a similar pattern, but somehow I decided to change my mind and close it up as I thought it looked cleaner. The intake duct like in the other video would definitely be an improvement allowing only fresh air into the case and forcing it through instead of back out.
I’ll be sure to keep that in mind for my next compact builds 😊
