Interestingly, if "zyzzyx" were a real word, then it would just narrowly be the last word in the dictionary, beating out "zyzzyva", a genus of tropical weevil.
Both words sound like they're trying to fall asleep
it IS a real word, it's just not in the dictionary. It's a road, it's a town, it's a movie, and it's a genus of wasps.... among a couple of other less legitimate things: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zzyzx
That's half as interesting as this video.
Not in Scrabble, though, where ZZZ and ZZZS beat both.

2) I don't think I need to tell you what those mean.
What about Zyzzyzus, a genus of marine tubulariid hydrozoans? That would come after Zyzzyx.

"By the way, that $30 is exclusively counting its theatrical run in the US when it was produced with the foreign dvd market in mind. The only reason it got a US theatrical run at all was for a workers rights aversion scheme."
Yeah, bit of a disingenuous premise.
Totally a money laundering scheme.
More like a Pyramid scheme to me.
So they only released it in the US to avoid paying them? How does that work?
So does that mean they still get some money from the dvd

People came expecting furries, got gross characters instead. Should’ve just made furries.
There’s a difference between a movie’s gross and a movie’s “loss” (or profit).
Yes, never adapt a play to screen. A play is inherently superior to the movie and any attempt at impersonating live theatre with cheap cgi is... folly to be polite. I know it wasn't cheap in cost but that is the bill for copping out of actual songwriters and choreographers and instead having America's equivalent to living garbage Rebel wilson, i mean seriously her and corey Feldman should just hook up, get married and move to the garbage island in the middle of the ocean as it's new regents but apparently corey isn't returning my mail.
The guy that named it was my Great Grandfather. He started a Helth resort there. It is not a town that is there, but a resort with salt spas, pools, gyms, and housing, as well as the main dining hall. he never charged people to come and use it. he just told people how much it cost to run it and people would give as they wanted. he used the minerals from the salt flats there to make supplements and other spa products.

Sarah Wright ...and how is that pronounced?
I can’t believe you forgot to mention the most amazing fact about this movie: it wasn’t the only thriller film released in February 2006 about Zzyzx road. Seriously. There’s a film called “Zzyzx” (no road), ALSO set on and filmed on location at the eponymous thoroughfare, ALSO about using its remote location to hide a body, released 21 days earlier. Except it actually got great critical reviews and grossed about a million dollars. What are the odds!? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zzyzx_(film)
That explains why I was so confused about this. I'd heard of that film, and went into this video assuming it would be about that one.
Ah, so this is probably a rip-off of that one?
wagon Googlesux I don’t know. I’d have thought that it would take far too long to make a knockoff of such a small film for it to be worth it, especially if you’re using real actors, but who knows.

A lot of the comments on this video seem to have missed the point that the $30 box office was deliberate and doesn’t account for DVD earnings
True. But its DVD earning aren't much to write home about. It made $368,000 by the end of 2006. Unlikely it ever recouped its $1.2 million production cost.
I was just about to start googling. I'm dissapointed in him for not finding out how much was made on DVD sales
Something sound off. Usually the people who made the movie are supposed to make money or at least try breaking even. If you make 30 dollars on a 1.2 million dollar movie it's either the worst movie on record, trying to break a world with the lowest movie income or making yourself look like a complete douchebag by making 20 to 30 buck wasting everyone's time and effort. if I'm going to make a movie at least I'd try to break even or go for the world record of making the worst movie on Earth or Lowet budget ever on a world record. If I made a movie with no intention to make almost money or record I'd look like a total douchebag

0:50 "Hey, boss! We made a mistake on this sign!" "Eh, just stick a 9 on the end, nobody will notice." "We also spelled the name of the road wrong."
Andrew Ray, California added exit numbers all over the state in the 2000’s. While most are spaced properly, this is actually one of the better signs because many are small, only have the exit number, and are posted in the split between the highway and the ramp - too late to be useful. This exit has both. You can see an example of the uselessly late small signs between the freeway and the ramp. Worse, there are no mile markers along the highways in California so it’s still better to know the name of the exit - because that is always on a sign _before_ the ramp - than to know the exit number. Unfortunately, many satellite navigation systems got updates and have given directions with useless exit numbers since then.
Brooke King oh so that’s what those mile signs mean lol
The road name is correct, it’s Zzyzx. The movie has an extra Y, in Zzyzyx.

There's an entire weird formula to figure out box office "break even". In this case, EVERYONE got paid - actors, crew, writers, distributors. And they had $30 left over. While it isn't the greatest thing on a resume, the fact that they didn't LOSE money (cough-Ishtar-cough) is brilliant.

Well yes, on dvd
NoZrA 3 I watched it on DVD a few years ago. It really is a pretty bad movie.
This movie is sitting in my drawer I just found out, googled it and found this.
In 1968 in Sacramento, I often listened to "Brother" Curtis Springer's religious/folk-medicine radio show out of Zzyzx, broadcast on the powerful XEMO station in Tijuana. Zzyzx is just off of Interstate 15 about 10 miles South of Baker, California, and is now the home of a "Desert Studies Center" run by a consortium of California universities. In the 1960's it was Brother Springer's desert health spa and religious commune. By coincidence, I was in USAF navigator school at the time, and often flew right over it
Much later in 2001-3, I found myself driving from Los Angeles to Las Vegas on a regular basis. I went past the Zzyzx turnoff many times, but never had the time or the inclination to go see it.
The word "Zzyzx" was coined by Brother Springer himself, and was supposed to represent the "last word" in both the English language and also in populist fundamentalist religious communal healthcare.
The correct spelling is "Zzyzx," not "Zyzzyx" and it rhymes with "Isaac's," not "physics." But nowadays nobody knows how to spell anyway.
