i gotta say, that ive been hyperfixating on your videos for the past couple of days, like watching them non-stop ... not bc im a sewer, but simply bc i really appreciate your passion for sewing :)) i'm a crocheter, and your videos are so great to inspire creativity! thank you for making the beginning of my year!! (also, im an aussie too!)
I just sewed my first item (a quilted tote bag) yesterday because of your videos! Specifically the “Stop brainrot, start sewing” one. I then binged all of your videos and asked for a sewing machine for Christmas! I’m having so much fun and your passion has really inspired me. Thanks Carly
I started enjoying your channel with the quilting video you posted, and while my personal style is very different from yours, I'm always inspired by your enthusiasm, curiosity, and bold use of color! Your willingness to jump into new things and honesty about how the projects are going is very encouraging. I even bought a skirt pattern to try out this coming year. Thanks for sharing your sewing with us on UA-cam! It's a real joy to watch your videos.
You are an absolute delight to watch! I love sewing, primarily creating blankets. The last few years I’ve been into a completely different craft-miniatures and polymer clay sculptures, often with a fantasy or theme-based twist. Recently, I got the idea to make miniatures inside containers like coffee cans, and now I’m completely obsessed. It’s become my newest passion!
I found your channel at the beginning of 2024 when I was an emotional wreck, so much just going wrong, and I know it sounds silly, but your videos have brought me such joy and helped me through a lot. Hard to cry while watching you make something with such a cute, bubbly personality and curly hair to boot.
2024 was the year that I took the plunge and started sewing thanks to your videos. Seeing how sometimes you have to re-do sections and try again gave me the confidence to give it a go, and seeing the joy it brings! I'm partway through making my first proper garment (so far I've only made an apron, Christmas stockings, bunting, and placemats) - but I'm now working on a patchwork skirt! 💜
So glad your channel was suggested to me this year. You are one of my favorite sewists to watch- you are one of the most adorable human beings. I feel like you’re one of those people who could be friends with literally anyone. Excitedly following your wedding dress journey!
I feel like I finally found my sewing niche, I’ve been sewing for like 6 years, been obsessed with quilting for like 4 and in 2024 I discovered micro quilting and the progress I’ve made throughout this year just feels so good. I make my tiny quilts into earrings and when I can (I have an almost 3 year old so I don’t have much time) I put them up on my Etsy to sell. Wish I had more time to dedicate to it, one day I will.
i learned how to knit last march after possibly 2 years of saying id get around to it and i have to say, its probably one of the best things ive ever done. i also started trying to fix my favorite quilt on my bed since i started watching your videos! for a long time, i felt like mending needed to be "perfect" or purposeful, but a lot of the patches ive sewn on the quilt are me taking scrap fabric ive been hoarding and stitching it on carefully before giving it a good border to keep it from fraying. i like to emborider little flowers on the smaller tears and just in general, so it looks a little better. 2024 was a lot of me getting into various crafts ive been wanting to get into for awhile but felt like i "couldn't" because i wasnt very good at it or i didnt have the necessary skills. im hoping 2025 will be more of me trying something, even if the first project isnt perfect, because then at least it means im trying :) maybe ill finally start sewing this year, who knows! i dont have space for a sewing machine but im very stubborn and im fortunate enough in life to have a lot of old ladies willing to help me out haha i wish you luck in your future project endeavors, as well as your wedding gown! i know absolutely nothing about sewing dresses and the like, but im sure whatever you finish with will be beautiful, for it was made with love :)
2024 was the first year I had enough pieces to dress in at least one item I'd made everyday. I also became an aunty for the first time and made my first teddy bear! I really love your videos because you talk about sewing the way I think about sewing. It's so fun to just live with endless possibilities and that little sprinkle of delulu that tells me I can make anything I see. In 2025 I'm going to embrace maximalisim in my wardrobe and worry less about whether or not people will take me seriously. I'm not a serious girlie.
Carly! Well done on 72 garments! A huge highlight of my year has been sewing and a huge highlight of sewing has been four smocked garments I made for my nieces and nephews this year. That was so fun to make gorgeous heirloom intricate dresses and a little romper for my nephew.
I found you from the quilt video when I was just starting on my first quilt in 20 years, it was an immediate follow. You have inspired me to sew more, and I am finding that I really enjoy it. I am about to bind my quilt and have begun some more art-style sewing projects with hand applique and embroidery.
I started sewing this year and your videos were a great inspiration! I get really excited for every Upload and every sewing project you Show us! Thank you :)
Hi Carly, love this video …I’ve just learnt & I’m older than dirt, that the pin cushion from spotlight , sharpen our pins & needles they have a sandy grit in them , keeps them smooth 🙌🏻.
I found YOU in 2024 and have been binging your videos ever since. 😊 You’re such a joy to watch and I love seeing people create in all kinds of ways. I’m so excited that we get to go along your wedding dress making journey too. 💜 Thank you for sharing that with us.
This past year has been a huge year for me in many hard ways, and some good ways as well. I started teaching myself to see while unemployed in September and it has been such a joy! Your videos were the first ones I started watching all of and my first dress I ever made was based off of your Jo March pattern. I loved it so much I made 2! You always being such joy, care, and creativity to everything and it has inspired me so much. So excited to continue watching your wedding dress series and see all the growth for you and for me as well this next year! ❤
Found your channel in 2024, and have loved every minute of your uploads! I got more confident altering crochet patterns to suit me better this past year and completed my first non-granny stitch cardigan 🎉
I just think you are so delightful. The way you talk about how things make you feel sparkly is just so lovely and it makes me want to be like you. You just have so much positive energy that it’s contagious
a pattern i loved making was the hollyhock romper!! i learned so much making it and am very proud of how it came out. during the process of constructing the pieces i found myself turning on your videos. they are such a nice thing to put on during projects. thank you!
i'm grateful for 2024 bc i found your channel and completely fell in love with your work, creativity and personality ! i'm really looking forward to 2025 bc you've inspired me so much and i want to get back at sewing and learn so many new things : more patchwork, quilting, slow embroidery, sashiko, korean patchwork techniques ! in some way, i hope i could be like you and have the courage to launch my own business one day but it's just too scary lots of love from France
This was such a fun watch! I saw your "stop brain rot, start sewing" video about a month ago and I made the Aubrey Hood/Scarf thing from Merchant & Mills a week ago! Thank you for the recommendation(s). I'm loving your channel/videos and am excited to sew some more projects. This video gave me lots of inspiration, too. ♡♡♡
i’ve been sewing more because of you! i actually made a sock monkey and a little pikmin plushie as Christmas gifts for some friends :) feeling very motivated to keep creating !!
Carly you are such a captivating soul. You’ve inspired me to get back into sewing and it has brought me so much joy! Everything you made was stunning, i cant wait to see what you make in 2025 :)))
Your quilted blanket video was the first of yours that I saw and I was so excited to see a new video of yours ever since! It’s been so nice to watch your videos while working on my own knitting projects and you’ve inspired me to spend more time with my sewing machine this year! Thank you thank you thank you and I can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store for you!
I made a patchwork skirt inspired by your work and it made me so happy while I made it and I love wearing it. I love how it turned out and that it reflects my creativity. Thanks for sharing your work Carly.
I think during the last year I learned that if I have to unravel a knitting project or seam rip multiple times during sewing it's not failure. It is just a part of the process of making. I was really inspired by your creations and I have a long list of garments I wish to sew during 2025. ❤
Great outfits some of them colourful and fun, love them all. The wedding invitation is perfect well done! Love to see how your wedding dress will be at the end. So happy I found your channel in 2024.
What a wonderful year of sewing - pat yourself on the back! I remember discovering you from your Magic Pants video, and then subsequently jumping back into sewing by making that same pattern myself. Now I've been making things more regularly (and even sharing some of my makes on youtube). You are an inspiration for me 💕
from a PA, USA sewist: i love watching your videos! your bubbly energy and creative vision, and your finished products are amazing. i love that you are honest when stuff doesn't 100% go as planned or as you learn because it is such a journey. excited for 2025!
I'm planning on making the garden dress by frux studios this year. Just ordered my fabric 🥰 can't wait to rewatch your video about that dress to re-inspire me when the fabric arrives
Happy New Year Carly :) My big win for the year was I finally got into knitting socks. I made my first one on New Years last year and throught the year I made 5 more pairs. I build up sock knitting in my head as this big scary thing but once I went for it it was such a joy. I learned something new with every sock par I made and I'm excited to keep learning and trying new patterns. I love your mindset around creativity, learning and exploring. I want to embrace your mindset around learning and gaining new skills this year.
Your pieces are filled with such joy! In the colors, the construction, the passion you have for sewing! Such a delight to watch. 😊 I'm not currently sewing anything, BUT I am doing the dreaded work of cutting out patterns so I can sew things very soon.
I met your channel, which helped light my fire and passion for color, texture and maximalist styles. I'm currently doing diy things around the house like throw pillows, mending but this upcoming year I'll be getting back into jewelry, beadwork and I hope to get into ceramics. I think I'll do my sewing projects in spring time...dunno. I want to say that I love your channel and your spirit because you come across as an artist, expressing things color, techniques. When you said you love to create things rather than to wear all the pieces you wear I'm like...ah....Textile artist. I dunno I'm just grateful that I came across your channel and I want to say thank you and I'll stick around as long as you'll have me. :)
What an insanely gorgeous lineup of work!! I’m so excited to continue to watch your sewing adventures in this next year. Right now I’m working on a green green green quilt for a loved ones birthday at the end of the month, but then I’m going to try and make some more tops for myself with hand stitched/slow stitched/embroidery all over them. I just love the texture that threads add to solid cloth. I want that texture as a part of my everyday.
I've loved watching your videos this year! Your creativity and patchwork has been a huge inspiration for me. I've learned that making clothes that I wear gives me tons of confidence to be myself and not try to fit in
I love this video! Your excitement for creating is contagious. 2024 has been the year of knitting for me-- I knit my first sweater, and then a second one, often times knitting while watching your videos! I love the way your creations bring new life to old things, and would love to be more mindful about using second hand materials moving forward in my crafting. Would you ever consider making a video about how you source all of you second hand materials, and how you decide which finds would be good for sewing? Maybe 2025 will be the year of learning how to sew with second hand materials, too!!!
i am soooo awful at hand sewing i feel like ive never heard any other sewists say that hahaha so im impressed you did that last shirt that way, but subscribing to your patreon this year after starting my journey was such an awesome resource! can't wait to see what's in store this year & i hope i have a nice roundup of my own of projects i can be proud of at the end of the year :) thanks for the inspo and sunshine you bring!
I made 5 waistcoats for my wedding, all but one needed massive adjustments including 3 that needed upsizing by at least 2 sizes. Nearly ruined me but the boys looked great and I’m never touching another waistcoat again 😂
Using this as my what to make in 2025 inspo You inspired me to get I to sewing in 2024 and so (sew haha) far I have made a few tops, shorts and underwear (very cool, very comfy and omg I sewed jersey knit scary but great) I really want to make the patchwork hoodie but I’m so scared because it looks very hard!
Aw that's so sweet!!! I'm so happy to hear you're loving sewing!!!! Oh yeah!!! And hey you can TOTALLY do the patchwork hoodie! It's mostly time consuming - not so difficult!! Don't be afraid!
What a beautiful round-up! Thank you so much for sharing all you’ve learned this year. I’m low-key curious to know how your Hadestown audition went. 😊 You have such a beautiful voice! Best of luck in 2025! I’m looking forward to what you have in store.
I self-drafted my first ever piece in 2024 and it went so well that I made 4 more for Christmas gifts!!! It was so much fun to push myself. I often don't do things unless I know they will work out so it was very scary to try such an unknown skill but I'm so glad I did and now I want to self-draft the majority of my projects this year!
At the end of 2024 I finally bought a sewing machine and sewed scrunchies for myself, my mother and sister. 2025 is the beginning of my sewing adventure :) I love watching your videos, you inspired me to try creating my own things. Lately I bought some fabrics in a second hand shop, so I'm not even worried about making mistakes (I know I will make a lot!). Fingers crossed for your projects this year and of course, especially - your wedding dress ❤
thanks for sharing your makes on the internet, carly! you are so sweet and your videos feels like sunshine everytime! i just got so curious about the dress you were wearing here, is there a pattern for it? sooo cute
You are so fun to watch! Obsessed with the Horse Mic 😂 found that second hand fabric store in brendale too and have really enjoyed sewing more sustainably and lots of patchwork shenanigans ❤
Thank you for your amazing videos I really really love your projects and everything you make is so amazing. While I can't sew myself, I send your videos to so many of my sewing friends! I can't wait to see what you create in 2025!
Carly, thank you for sharing your journey and 2024 makes! You are so sweet and passionate, and it’s so refreshing to watch. I can’t wait to see more from you, especially how your wedding dress turns out. Sending you lots of love 🫶🏼💖
sooo happy to have discovered you this year! you have really inspired a lot of my ideas with colour and patchwork. i can't wait to see the wedding dress and the roberts wood piece you are working on :-)
So delighted to see this video! Your positivity and excitement about sewing has really inspired me this year. I’ve gotten involved in my local sewing maker’s space and have found so much joy in learning new crafting things! I really enjoy how much you prioritize having fun while making something and it’s been a helpful reminder for me when I’m crafting. So excited to see what projects this new year brings for you and thank you for sharing your creative process through these videos! 🌟🌟🌟
Love you Carly!! I've just started learning to sew (only done two skirts so far 😂) but I'm an aspiring fashion designer and I get so much inspiration from your videos! I love putting them on in the background when I'm designing or crocheting. Wishing you well in the new year 🫶
Hi Carly! I love your channel sm and you were the main push for me to finally get a sewing machine and take on bigger projects! Do you (or anybody in the comments tbh) have any more pattern recommendations for beginners? 💕
Happy New Year Carly! I am in awe of all of your projects. I'm currently knee deep in a C2C blanket, made out of 9 60x60 cm squares - which was supposed to be a Christmas present and I'm losing my mind! LOL What would you advise as a good easy project to start sewing for an absolute newbie? I have so many ideas but don't know where to begin. I have a basic domestic sewing Janome machine so I am fairly limited on stitches. I look forward to witnessing your progress over 2025. xxx
What an inspiring portfolio. Your enthusiasm shows in your work. I am looking forward to seeing your next year's creations. Have you studied mola dresses of the Kuna of Panama? Some of your work reminds me of that.
I’m planning to make more things as presents this year, exactly because I want to try making things I won’t wear. I love wearing the same thing over and over again, but I want to try new patterns and grow my skills (maybe even learn how to make a swim suit, even though I hate swimming)
I didn't know what Twisties are so I looked it up. They are like our cheese curls I think?? I am in Calirornia USA. I have a little brother that lived in Australia until just recently he went back to Europe (we are from the UK) although he was born in France grew up in London, Malaysia and Australia. I had lots of plans for 2024 but I had an emergency eye surgery and then after that a 12 hour back surgery which I am still recovering from, so I didn't get to do much sewing. LOVE your videos. You certainly are flexible were you a gymnast? You look tall online. I am 5'1" Keep making videos can't wait to see your wedding dress.
Do you have any book recommendations for someone wanting to start making their own simple clothes, I am a book girly and would love a read to inspire me with some simple waste limited designs I can practice with as I grow my sewing skills
You are such an inspiration! I really want to start making clothes and other stuff with my own hands and it would be dream come true it became my profession. watching your videos makes me want to try🥰 you are such a colorful and possitive person❤️ I hope next year would be even more creative and beautiful for you☺️
Clotheslines are pretty rare in America, so that's probably why we're confused about the idea of an apron to hold pegs for one. :) (also we call pegs "clothespins" so that probably adds to the confusion)
I made a hat by ironing together frozen peas bags and my verdict is that a twisties top would be soooo sweaty and crunchy haha It makes me think about this kid in my primary school who had these bag charms made out of shrunken chip packets (I think she just put them in the oven and they shrunk like a shrinky dink??). Anyway... Twisties earrings??
What an impressive year of sewing! I'm curious, why do you say fabrication rather than fabric? I thought fabrication was more about construction, like the fabrication of a bridge. I could be misremembering though!
Not quite. You’re right that “Fabric” (as in, material) is not shorthand for fabrication, but one doesn’t speak of the fabrication of a bridge. You construct a bridge (or house, or railway), but you fabricate the steel first in order to construct said bridge - in this example, it’s a manufacturing process.
Yeah technically a fabric is fabricated. But synonyms for fabric are: cloth, textile Whereas synonyms for fabrication in this instance would be: making, weaving, knitting, creation, construction (so you may refer to the fabrication of a garment, just not in the way she uses the word... But idk, it's just a fun quirk!)

I've known how to crochet since I was probably 10, but I taught myself how to knit in 2024 and I haven't stopped since ❤
Magic Pants feels like AGES ago! You changed my business with that video- I will forever be grateful ❤ Thanks for all the inspiration this year!

Backpack kislux - also works for Compare - I can't find any difference and still use it for the gym
So, so inspiring! A patchwork hoodie is at the top of my sewing wishlist for the year :)
I love how every segment starts with "OH!!"
I made 5 waistcoats for my wedding, all but one needed massive adjustments including 3 that needed upsizing by at least 2 sizes. Nearly ruined me but the boys looked great and I’m never touching another waistcoat again 😂
Using this as my what to make in 2025 inspo
You inspired me to get I to sewing in 2024 and so (sew haha) far I have made a few tops, shorts and underwear (very cool, very comfy and omg I sewed jersey knit scary but great) I really want to make the patchwork hoodie but I’m so scared because it looks very hard!
Aw that's so sweet!!! I'm so happy to hear you're loving sewing!!!! Oh yeah!!! And hey you can TOTALLY do the patchwork hoodie! It's mostly time consuming - not so difficult!! Don't be afraid!
that cardigan is still my favourite item of clothing I own 🥺
Omg!! The ruffle apron!! 🤩❣️
I have my grandmother’s clothes pin pouch and I love it!!
Your creations are just gorgeous ! I started learning teaching myself sew in 2024 after watching your "stop brain rot" video and I am obsessed !
I adore the quilted hoodie and sew many blessings cat - so cute and fun 😍
At the end of 2024 I finally bought a sewing machine and sewed scrunchies for myself, my mother and sister. 2025 is the beginning of my sewing adventure :) I love watching your videos, you inspired me to try creating my own things. Lately I bought some fabrics in a second hand shop, so I'm not even worried about making mistakes (I know I will make a lot!). Fingers crossed for your projects this year and of course, especially - your wedding dress ❤
That was a great video, thank you so much for summarizing your creations Carly!
thanks for sharing your makes on the internet, carly! you are so sweet and your videos feels like sunshine everytime! i just got so curious about the dress you were wearing here, is there a pattern for it? sooo cute
Such an inspiration ❤ Thanks Carly ☺️
You are so fun to watch! Obsessed with the Horse Mic 😂 found that second hand fabric store in brendale too and have really enjoyed sewing more sustainably and lots of patchwork shenanigans ❤
Thank you for your amazing videos I really really love your projects and everything you make is so amazing. While I can't sew myself, I send your videos to so many of my sewing friends! I can't wait to see what you create in 2025!
I enjoyed watching your videos so much and seeing your enthusiasm about learning new techniques was really inspiring! Thank you so much for sharing :)
Carly, thank you for sharing your journey and 2024 makes! You are so sweet and passionate, and it’s so refreshing to watch. I can’t wait to see more from you, especially how your wedding dress turns out. Sending you lots of love 🫶🏼💖
sooo happy to have discovered you this year! you have really inspired a lot of my ideas with colour and patchwork. i can't wait to see the wedding dress and the roberts wood piece you are working on :-)
I can’t WAIT for the wedding dress update, I have been visiting your channel every few days for an update lol!
Wishing you well in the new year 🫶
NEW CARLY LETS GOOOO 🧨
Beautiful work! Love your videos ❤
You're honestly adorable. Your channel is such a nice place to visit on the internet. Happy New Year!
Making the Ora Pinafore in a mulberry colored cotton while watching this!!
Hi Carly! I love your channel sm and you were the main push for me to finally get a sewing machine and take on bigger projects! Do you (or anybody in the comments tbh) have any more pattern recommendations for beginners? 💕
My favourite pattern of 2024 is the Fibre Mood Judy. A lovely swishy puff-sleeved dress. I hope to make a patchwork hoody soon.
Lovely mix of garments
Happy New Year Carly! I am in awe of all of your projects. I'm currently knee deep in a C2C blanket, made out of 9 60x60 cm squares - which was supposed to be a Christmas present and I'm losing my mind! LOL
What would you advise as a good easy project to start sewing for an absolute newbie? I have so many ideas but don't know where to begin. I have a basic domestic sewing Janome machine so I am fairly limited on stitches.
I look forward to witnessing your progress over 2025. xxx
Your creatiins spark such joy. I love how colourful and playful they are. Happy New Year🎉
Amazing job as always! Excited to see your 2025 projects !!
thank you so much!!!!
You are absolutely adorable! Thank you for sharing your creations. ❤
Aww i love anais mitchell too❤
What an inspiring portfolio. Your enthusiasm shows in your work. I am looking forward to seeing your next year's creations.
Have you studied mola dresses of the Kuna of Panama? Some of your work reminds me of that.
I've made a jacket this year to sell as well and my mom bought it too! I don't know, I guess they just have a good taste.
I’m planning to make more things as presents this year, exactly because I want to try making things I won’t wear. I love wearing the same thing over and over again, but I want to try new patterns and grow my skills (maybe even learn how to make a swim suit, even though I hate swimming)
Carly you are a delight, truly!!
Love your videos .. well done on all the projects ... from South Africa
Those jeans are a stunning fit. What a win!
Congratulations on your engagement!
Hi, thanks for showing what you made in 2024.
I really want to start making clothes and other stuff with my own hands and it would be dream come true it became my profession. watching your videos makes me want to try🥰 you are such a colorful and possitive person❤️ I hope next year would be even more creative and beautiful for you☺️
Eine erwachsene Frau in schlecht genähter Babykleidung.
Clotheslines are pretty rare in America, so that's probably why we're confused about the idea of an apron to hold pegs for one. :) (also we call pegs "clothespins" so that probably adds to the confusion)
I think you should make a top with Twistie bags lol.
I made a hat by ironing together frozen peas bags and my verdict is that a twisties top would be soooo sweaty and crunchy haha
It makes me think about this kid in my primary school who had these bag charms made out of shrunken chip packets (I think she just put them in the oven and they shrunk like a shrinky dink??).
But synonyms for fabric are: cloth, textile
Whereas synonyms for fabrication in this instance would be: making, weaving, knitting, creation, construction (so you may refer to the fabrication of a garment, just not in the way she uses the word... But idk, it's just a fun quirk!)
Return of the horse mic!!🥰
