This is a really strange transitional Helium set. You can hear their sound shifting into the Magic City Direct but it isn't quite there. Really interesting! Thanks for sharing.
Wow, giving Pat’s Trick the Teen Spirit sabotage treatment. Helium couldn’t have played many shows. When I saw them in 1998, they played like 4 songs and a 10 minute instrumental. Ash stormed to the back and obviously didn’t want to get asked about which tunings and stomp boxes he used one Celebrate the New Dark Age. I heard later that they were in a bad way at that time. Mega fan though, just think it’s funny and I’m happy experienced seeing my heroes play a little dive bar.
@@ChristopherBettig fair enough. You’d probably know more than me. Not that I know much about them personally but I was always under the impression that Helium didn’t tour much. Either way, I absolutely love Mary and Polvo are stars to me.
@@starshineraiser6729 not sure if they did big tours or not but definitely did from boston to washington dc a bunch. i saw them easily a dozen times from 93-97
@@ChristopherBettig A fourth instrument is heard in several of the songs, and Mary Timony specifically asks the sound man to adjust the volume of "the keyboard" about 2/3 of the way through this video.

Brilliant set by one of the best indie bands of all time; thanks a million for filming and sharing it.
“The Dirt of Luck” an album that CHANGED my life!

no guitars ep?
@@kidkique I forgot that existed even though I for some reason have 2 copies of it. I'll have to dig it out.
Thanks a lot. Love Mary and Ash. Both of their bands are great!
Holy shit! Helium covers T. REX??? This is soooooo sick!!
Love this band.
*In* love with ya, Mary, always!

don’t know what you mean.. they played a ton of shows lol but Ash joined later so maybe you mean they hadn’t played that many shows with Ash?

What's the connection to Teen Spirit?
Where is the keyboard player (or were the keyboard parts prerecorded)?
no keyboard player

@@dbadagna you asked where the keyboard player is.. you can see the whole stage. no keyboard player 🤷♂
@@ChristopherBettig That's why I included a second half to my sentence (in parentheses).
