RFK uses the “gish gallop” technique of “flooding the zone” with so many flawed studies and incorrect premises, that it becomes impossible to refute them on a point by point basis. The “bullshit asymmetry principle” states that “The amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than that needed to produce it”. This means you need about 10x as much time to rebut what is already a huge volume of intelligent sounding flawed information when debating a bullshitter like RFK jr.

I’m a fan of informed consent. Mandates are a bad idea. Transparency is always good. You are a scientist, not a marketer. The peasants can handle nuance better than you think.
Raccoon dogs? Really? Clearly that’s outside his area of expertise.
Of the mandate-loving scientists, Paul Offit is a lot better than Peter Hotez. Philip Krause is the best of the bunch. Clearly, previous infection should have been appropriate for all of the front-line nurses and doctors who we put in harm’s way during the height of the pandemic and then fired when they refused a vaccine because they already had natural immunity (or whatever marketing term you want to use).
I know Z-Dogg hates anti-vaxxers with a passion…. But bodily autonomy is important. The CDC presented papers to back perspectives that don’t make sense… like that the vaccine was better than natural immunity, which flies in the face of what we have learned so far about immunology. The CDC would make pronouncements and then go in after the fact and support these pronouncements with low quality evidence and for people like me who actually follow this, it erodes faith.
Sorry that you had to get the science wrong to make a clearer message, but you eroded my trust in public health in the process. That won’t come back overnight.

Dr. Offit at 46 minutes you talk about the vote for natural infection "survival induced immunity". In mid March of 2020, early in the pandemic, I had a bad case of covid. I had always believed in vaccines, and had both of my sons vaccinated fully. When the vaccine came out I wanted nothing to do with it, the thought of putting anything relating to covid virus in my body felt deeply wrong to me. A few people , including Dr. Monica Ghandi, took the stance of natural immunity, but family denounced me as an "anti vaxxer ", and continued to push me to get the vaccine. I just needed more time to recover , but because so many people in the mainstream did not speak up publicly, I was more or less disowned by my family. Then we were forced to to get both of my sons (18 and 20) vaccines to stay in college. You make a lot of sense, but I lost so much trust that it opened me up to listening to people such as RFK. I think you failed people , because you and your commity did not speak up. That is also lying in my eyes, you knew something and didn't say it, which makes you equally responsible in my eyes. He has slowly been disappointed as the papers coming out have been alarming to me. He has interviewed well credentialed virologest research

He did have a video I watched where he read from medical research papers being pear reviewed and had the video removed and given a strike on FB. If we can't be informed, how can we make informed consent? As far as your guest on this program I was disappointed to hear him misrepresent JFKjr. On Les Friedman show that I also watched. I think the bias of personal opinions comes through on this. It doesn't feel like this was a truly honest conversation, that said, we are all human and I can understand why it would be so difficult to remove the personal feelings of previous bad interactions with a person. But the really concerning part is that these 2 placed a lot of trust in the media reporting of RFK Jr, and not a lot of source information was brought in. After listening, the conversation actually made me distrust Zubin and Offit because it felt so personal.
Actual verbatim quote from RFK Jr? "People say I am anti-vaccine because they don't want to have the argument with me about how to improve vaccines. I'm not anti-vaccine, I believe we should have safe vaccines and I believe we should have robust science. and I believe we should have independent regulators who are not financially tied to the companies that are making our vaccines." He went on to critique the amount and scheduling of the vaccines, which, when the US doesn't have robust evidence to support our own vaccine schedule, that's NOT a wildly inflammatory stance. Developed countries all over the world give far fewer vaccines than the US, no one seems to question their "anti-vax" status. His stance appears to be that no one has done the due diligence to prove safety, if safety hasn't been proved then they can't be deemed "safe". I am sure there are plenty of critiques of RFK Jr, but I didn't hear any good ones in this episode, sadly.

No way was I going to that, and no way was I going to give it to my 6 month old when that was also recommended. Sometimes, you just need to go with your gut. I read a lot, and I also work in healthcare statistics. That was my research, and I am glad I stayed the course.

It remains to be seen BUT what RFK has said is that he will not stop people from taking vaccines. He will focus on healthy foods. He will make data on the c shot technology available and risk factors will be made public. Other vaccines will have more studies to investigate efficacy and risks. I’m not sure who will be doing those studies. Mandated vaccines will likely be sidelined while allowing those who want them to get them - unless they call into a risk category, I suppose. Transparency will be the strategy.

I subscribe to Z-Dog and appreciate his "Alt-Middle" movement and other accounts like this, if only to escape from my own libertarian echo chamber from time to time. Thats just being real and I think a lot of us would benefit from this; seeking truths outside of our silo. Our at least, seeing the opposing arguments for what they are, in strengthening your own.
I think a lot of this "science denial" accusation is short-sighted, negligent and only fuel for more agitated populism. I think what you all are missing is this premise: INDEED, science is data-driven and then should withstand ANY criticism if it's concrete. The push-back is a result of a) "the science" has been colluding and financed so often with corporatist business interests. And b) "the science" has essentially tried to eradicate ALL criticism or questioning rather than be confident and address the public. The censorship during Covid was jaw-dropping. A third caveat is c) "the science" has become increasingly political. This immediatley marginalizes a middle ground, default acceptance from most Americans now. (Great article from 2017 in Scientific American on this.)
For evidence of data-skewing and fraud from the alphabet agencies and their links to Big Pharma, just Google any branch and any Pharma conglomerate along with lawsuit, deception, whistle-blower and fraud.

Actually MOST Hepatitis B transmission has historically, across thousands of years , been from parents/ caretakers to infant children - just simply from care and feeding - one simple example is of course it can be transmitted in breast milk . But with infants , they likely acquire Hepatitis B both thru broken skin and mucosa ( mouth or eye ) . Think of it this way . Hepatitis B has been around for thousands of years BEFORE there was anything like needle transmission . And it is NOT strictly sexual transmission either . That is why it is a good idea to give it to infants.

I think so too. I have no idea why CDC Director Robert Redfield would have come out as a whistleblower in 2021, stating that this was a lab leak and suffering much because of it if he wasn't telling the truth. I watched as lab leak stories were reported by mainstream media and then pulled. Then there is the 2013 gain-of-function paper using the same virus and the leaked emails that no one denied when questioned by the Senate. There was that very public shutdown of the Wuhan lab citing inadequate safety. We know the US has been involved in bioweapon research in labs abroad, and everybody except US mainstream media is reporting on the 24 bioweapon labs in Ukraine right now. You'd have to be a conspiracy theorist to not believe in the lab leak. When he lied there, I realized everything was a lie.

It's a real pity that no-one bothers to mention that RFK Jr said that he wants to do more safety science on the vaccines. What is not to like about that? I am a mom who thought she should look up the safety of the vaccines before I had my children injected with it, realizing that the schedule of this medical treatment in this country outpaced the schedule I grew up with. I asked my pediatrician about it but she referred me to the library. I remember trying to find something there that could convince me, although I had no medical knowledge other than my nursing experience in mental health. What I found at the library was (if I remember correctly) the vaccine insert, but definitely the fact that there are no comparison studies between the vaccinated and unvaccinated. This lack of information did not convince me that letting mij children be injected with these vaccines was a good idea, to the contrary. Thus I decided to wait until I could find the solid information I needed to satisfy my expectations of safety. I started talking about this to other moms but was shut down immediately on every attempt and literally no-one, in person or through the media, ever offered more evidence then someone's opinion, which is not evidence. So if RFK Jr is so wrong, the science will tell and I trust that RFK Jr. will do the science to find out. The Pharmaceutical/medical establishment has had more then 30 years to convince me with evidence and not simply someones opinion, that vaccination makes for a healthier individual in the long run. Now I can't wait until Robert Kennedy Jr will do exactly that science parents need to make an informed decision regarding vaccines. I hope he will get the chance to do just that.

What is the benefit and why?. When our generation thrived without major issues. Outside of acknoledging a material gain, I dont see why these new generations would benefit from more vacciness. Great discussion, and I get Paul’s concern about hospitals being overwhelmed, but mandates are just wrong. You have to start with ethics and work within that framework. If you’re honest about the risks-like explaining how hospitals could reach capacity and what that means-people will adjust their behavior on their own. Some might get vaccinated, others might wear N95s, stay home more, or take other precautions. The point is, you don’t need to force people when you give them clear information and trust them to make their own decisions. That approach respects individual freedom and still addresses the problem.

I agree, specially if the vaccine itself was almost as new as the virus itself. People didn't know the risks of the new drug or vaccine. They were discovered later, like myocarditis, in some groups after many people were coerced into getting it.

RFK Jr. is spreading misinformation, and we shouldn’t sugarcoat that. His understanding of food science is rudimentary at best. While banning ultra-processed foods isn’t necessary, implementing stricter regulations and guidelines is crucial. We can’t outright ban sugar and salt, but we can enforce stringent industry standards to reduce their levels. His comparisons of food additives between countries only add to the confusion. Just because one country bans an additive doesn’t mean it’s inherently harmful. He lacks a clear understanding of the science and fails to communicate the actual content effectively.

There problem is that the anti-vaccine activists exaggerate every mistake and twist good communication into a bad interpretation. The other problem is that 50% of Americans have a libertarian tendency and many of those react aggressively to any government decisions that they perceive as being against their personal liberty.
In Australia we did not have those problems at least to the same degree. We have a rather ineffective anti-vaccine influence, and we have a collectivist tendency, meaning we have no real issue with cooperating with the government that has no problem listening to the public health experts. As a result, we did not have the problem you had with communication or getting the public to cooperate. As a result, we had a COVID-19 mortality rate since the start of the pandemic that was about 1/4 that of the US and our health care system never became overwhelmed.

It’s important to remember that lack of trust in public health tanked as a result of COVID policies. I know this discussion isn’t about COVID but RFK Jr being nominated (along with Makary, Oz, Bhattacharya etc..) is a *response* to what happened over the past 4+ years. In my area we are still doing clean pen dirty pen. The insanity has not ended. RFK Jr is a response to that. Americans voted overwhelmingly for a disruptor. If our institutions hadn’t failed us so miserably and refused to apologize (I’d love some contrition from Fauci and Walensky) we wouldn’t be looking for so much disruption.
I am confident in the confirmation process re RFK Jr has HHS. Honestly I figured he’d get EPA. Better suited there.
