As a kid, eating at Sizzlers was considered a higher end restaurant. Lol. Now that I’m a grownup, I realize that it’s not……. But I still like Sizzlers.😂

You can NEVER recapture the nostalgia of the good old days. It's unfortunate with some of these places that all we have are the MEMORIES!
Never say never.. We know of a few places in LA that haven't changed in years.
My dad would take the family to Sizzler on Sunday at 1pm. We all knew. There were often 20 of us there together. My dad died in 2016. The 9 grandchildren went to Sizzler for dinner to reminisce on the day we buried him. They loved the corn nuggets and their grandfather. Thanks for sharing this on of all days a Hurricane Sunday!❤.

I used to take my Aunt to Sizzlers after church on Sunday with my son. He had to be like 5 or 6 years old at that time. Now he’s 30. Man this brings back memories. RIP Auntie 🙏🏿
When I was a pre-pubescent teen, my mindset was like "When I'm older I'm gonna buy a fast car and when I start dating beautiful women, I'm gonna to take them to the Sizzler! That'll impress them!". Cheesebread was 💯. If Taco 🛎put as much meat and sour cream as in Lisa's taco, I would go there 7 days a week. "Take entree home and just go to the salad bar." That is the most ingenious badass spectacular thing I've heard all weekend.
That was my mindset too. Have the Mustang, Lisa, and now Sizzler... Mission accomplished. =D

Wow, I just went to Sizzler yesterday in Fullerton for my birthday. I could have went anywhere but I told my family that it had been a long time since we had been to sizzler so we went. The food was good, it was a good time.

I use to work at a Sizzler restaurant back in the early 80's when I was in high school along with my 2 older brothers here in California. Also worked in one in Phoenix when I went to trade school. Both of these Sizzler restaurants closed years ago along with many others. Hard to believe that there are still some that are still open.
Yes, sadly many have closed over the years. We're fortunate to still have 2 local to us.
I'm so jealous. They don't have one where I moved to. Great memories at sizzlers with so many friends through the years.. a great go to place that's nice and casual!
Didnt know Sizzler still Exists. Missed the Sizzler across SC campus when they had the $6 Salad bar Buffet back in my College days

Fun fact: We used to have Sizzler in Australia (e.g. Melbourne, where I'm from). I remember going there as a kid. The salad bar concept was relatively new to Australia at the time. Ordering a main meal was always a treat. It was probably the very first place where I tried calamari. I think it was a restaurant where people went for special occasions. We celebrated some family birthdays there. It's sad that Sizzler didn't stay very long in Australia because me and my family loved it. The restaurant we went to was always packed.
Bill and Lisa, thanks for this video full of nostalgia! During my childhood, there was a Sizzler less than 3 minutes driving distance from our house. It was a special occasion event, and their salad bar/buffet was a true cornucopia of veritable delights. Still remember their fried, battered Corn nuggets 🌽. I was bummed when it closed and turned into a Lonestar Steakhouse.
Nice to see Sizzler's still exists somewhere. They shut down operations here in Australia during the pandemic.

Sizzler is nostalgic for me, too. My Dad never liked their steak (God rest his soul ❤). But it was the bomb back then. BTW I pray you and your family stay safe and healthy during this hurricane weather.

affordable nutritional enjoyable family meals at a reasonable price-eating out used to be a great occasion for the whole family-we didn't have so much distraction back in the day-love the way lisa linking her nostalgia to memories of her family

After seeing this, I want to go to a Sizzler's! Oh wait, we don't have them here anymore. At least I got to enjoy virtually through your video. Tried Texas Roadhouse and Longhorn Steakhouse for the first time last year (don't have that here either!) and they both were a pleasant surprise. Malibu Chicken...forgot about that. Glad to see its alive and well!
I just went to Sizzlers with my daughter and had the Senior salad bar with beverage $12.99. Went there because of your video. Haven't gone there in years. Great value!

Haven't been to Sizzler since 2008 when my nephew completed boot camp at Camp Pendleton.
Looks great. The first time I ever had lobster tail was at a Sizzler on my 2nd trip to California. It was on our way out of LAX. Loved it!!

I just recently took my parents here after so many years as well! I was surprised how tasty it still was! They really stuck to the motto, "If it ain't broke don't fix it". I think for awhile I got a little spoiled with all the new types of restaurants in the LA area, but coming back to Sizzler was a great feeling of nostalgia and was comforting. I hope they never go out of business.
Very true! Sizzler is one of those restaurants that you forget about, but we're so glad we went. And, it's just as good!
My husband and I just went and it was soooo good. I was surprised because it's a hit and miss at Sizzler's. We had steak and shrimp with a baked potato. Yum.

Went here all the time with my family as a kid. Nothing but nostalgia. Sadly, some locations have closed down already.

I haven’t been to Sizz since high school in the 80s. The steak was the size of a fist! It looks edible now.
Love it-Memories of childhood! We went there a lot-I’m in my 50’s and they left my region by the time I was 20ish.
My family and I miss Sizzler’s in Hawaii. It was our go to place for a family dinner out. I especially loved their salad bar. I remember the crunchy chicken wings because it was very similar to Fremont’s Paradise Buffet chicken wings. Now that Paradise Buffet is no longer here, we haven’t found a place that comes close to their yummy wings.
If my memory is correct , the Sizzler’s in Hawaii’s Malibu Chicken was not battered nor fried, but baked. It came with 2 pieces. I loved how the ham and cheese were melted on it and the chicken was very moist!
I’m happy to know that Sizzler’s is still around on the mainland and I certainly will look forward to eating there next time I’m in CA. Mahalo for another great family dining video!

Thanks for bringing back my childhood and the high school memories as weekend night out with friends. Unfortunately we do not have a Sizzlers anymore, it’s been more than 6-7 years both locations were closed. I miss the salad bar and the tacos! Another great throwback!! ❤ loved sizzlers back in the 80s!! The Malibu chicken and baked potato was a must!!! Haven't been there for 30 years!! I remember we used to get the all you can eat fried shrimp and 3 of us would eat it even though only one of us got it.😅 everything still looked good since I thought that was fine dining back then!! 😂😂😂 nice to see you guys trying it and liked it still !!!!! 😊😊😊😊 can't wait to see your next adventure. It's really funny how much of a nostalgia there is for Sizzlers for a lot of us who grew up in the 80s/90s in southern CA. There's one in Buena Park, CA that's still open but I haven't been to a sizzlers in like 20 years. It was the only restaurant that my family went to because you could get a decent steak and potato and a salad bar without spending a lot of money. My dad always got the salad bar, I would get a sirloin steak and potato and mom got a sirloin steak and the fried shrimp. My dad would always give up his soft serve cup for me and that was my dessert. The cheesy bread was always crunchy and yummy.
Sounds like some good times, Melissa. Might be time for a revisit for that cheesy bread and sirloin steak!... And, of course some soft serve.

I was watching a vid about shady maple smorgasbord in pennsy and wracked my brain for the name of the steak and all you can eat salad bar joint from the 80’s & 90’s and finally remembered… Sizzler!!!! My parents would take us kids there on Saturdays after swim meets and the nostalgia is so real. Went on a shallow dive and had to watch your vid! Inflation is more depressing than ever today but it was cool to see the place that brought me *SO* much joy back in the day :)
ETA: 😫 they HAMMERED that steak!!!!! And that chicken looked sooooo sad. I’ll keep my memories near and dear, thanks 😂

Where I live in the Bay Area, there’s only one Sizzler by me. Growing up, my family (extended family too) and I would frequent Sizzler after Sunday church where my mom would get the fried shrimp and the salad bar. Usually I would just eat off of her plate but I always specifically remembered the shrimp, salad bar and cheese toast. My mother passed away suddenly last year and on her birthday I like to go to sizzler and have her favorite nostalgic meal. It’s just a nice way for me to celebrate her in a lighthearted and different way. Happy travels Auntie Lisa and Uncle Bill!

Went to one in cedar city Utah 3 years ago. Not the same. Steaks were gross and the prices were insane for what you get. Cheesy bread was good at least

Used to eat at Sizzler all the time with my grandmother and mom in the 80’s when I was a kid. Also went to Norm’s a lot too. Man good memories ❤
Went to Sizzler a little over a year ago for lunch with coworkers in Santa Clara. It was terrible. My NY steak had so much connective tissue that I couldn't cut through it. Only was able to salvage about 2 bites from it. Glad you 2 had a good experience.

Oh my goodness, when I was in college whenever my aunt V from Hawaii would visit me in Southern Cali, this is where we hangout, Sizzler down Van Nuys Blvd. I remember the salad bar and the cheese toast...
I'll have to look up a Sizzler next time that I'm in SoCal. The last time that I was there, I rediscovered Shakey's. That was a 40 year flashback.
The last Sizzlers in Las Vegas closed in the early 2000s. I was road tripping up in Utah and found one at Cedar City and I got I did get the Steak and Endless Shrimp with a salad. I had mines medium and dug into the steak quick before it cooked from the heat. My family would do Sizzlers once a month as a treat back when we lived in Hawaii.
Sadly, we no longer have Sizzlers here in Hawaii! That was my go-to place for steaks with my family when I was young.
OMG!!!! Sizzler was a popular place when I was dating Russ in the 70's. I don't remember the prices but I'm sure dinners were under $10 and the salad bar was about $1.99 extra with an entree. I've been there for over 25+ years because the quality was lacking. But after seeing your video, it warrants a revisit.

You're very welcome, Betty. Yes, part of their decline may have been attributed to their lack of food taste and quality. But, from what we had, they stepped up their game. The salad bar, shrimp and ribeye were great! If you get to go, hope you enjoy it!

They closed them down many years ago because of food safety and hygiene regulations and problems unfortunately. I used to love it and miss it,

Then the salad bar! all I ate was chicken wings flats dipped in ranch and clam chowder until I was stuffed to the top. Sometimes a taco. They had a good cranberry walnut salad too. There hasn't been a Sizzler here in the Vancouver area for maybe 25 years? I remember the Malibu Chicken as soon as you said it! We used to go back and forth between Sizzler and Bonanza. Memories, oh my gosh.
Our Sizzler recently closed. I loved the Malibu Chicken & salad bar. My husband & I had our first date at Sizzler. Thanks for the walk down memory lane!😃

Sizzler!! Yes very nostalgic, used to go there in my 20's when there wasn't a lot of $$. Loved the salad bar and specials. Then they closed the location nearest to me...😢

LOL! Chowder was good, but can't really compare it to the places that specialize in chowder.

The Malibu sauce mustard with mayo, maybe 75% mayo with 25% mustard.
At places like Sizzler order steaks a temp below, when/if they miss, they will over cook it and hit your preferred temp.
I haven't been to a Sizzler since the 90s. I loved those endless shrimp deals

@@billandlisa funny when I moved to Md from Ca they had a restaurant called Western Sizzler. Gone now and they were almost like Sizzler but wasn't as good

I was 10 years old when my Mom got killed riding the train to work! After the neighbors brought food for a month my Dad didn’t know how to cook so it was either Campbell soup with rice in a rice cooker or Swansons tv dinner. But near our house was a Bonanza and Sizzler. Once a week , we would go there! That’s were I gained weight! Love that steak or Malibu chicken and the buttered toast!
