- Yeti's new ASR race/XC bike is no bargain, but does its surprisingly distinctive, technical trail friendly ride character make it worth the cost? I bagged a quick ride on this downcountry dentist special on my local singletrack to find out.

Excellent review. You've got this nailed. Thanks!
Now I can carry the switchinfinitythingy in my jersey pocket! Yay!
In my area, if the trails were that muddy, the wooden bridges would be so slick, you’d be asking for the bike to come out from under you.
I just dream of a yeti arc
When I turned 40, I treated myself to a tantra-seminar week-end for a little reflection and growth. An idea that I often think about is: "The problem to saying 'yes' as often as we might, is that they take the place of the 'hell-yes' we might _really_ want."
I sacrificed my ski season to afford a Yeti BMX which I've finally thrown a leg over after fifteen years, honestly, of saying 'no' to every other bike opportunity except for a used, mid-'90s XC bike for trade-school stints, and a 4X frameset that needs basically all of the components.
Anyway, it'a do-able.
If there are some Saturdays you can work odd jobs without sacrificing your wife and kids, or take-out that's infinitwly less-healthy than the home-cooked left-overs from Sunday's meal-prep...
I wish you the focus.
With sincere respect and kind regards from Canada.
Guy, money no object - The ASR with the FA spec level, or the S-works epic 8?
Yeti > Spesh
@@readikus For what reason? Geniunly curious. Looking at the specs of the bikes, the specialized takes it. But other than that im not sure.
@@Doggeppi'll make it easier for you - Allied BC40 trumps both... ive ridden them all
@@flow2tech Well, issue is - No allied dealers in europe. Im not importing a $13k bike myself here. Could go with a frameset, but then I need to get a hold of the flight attendant rear shock with the Allied tune, which probably is months away for the aftermarket still. And if I need to warranty something, its quite annoying sending stuff overseas.
I went with the S-works epic 8, and have no regrets at all. Bought it from my local dealer so supported him as well. Easy to deal with if I have any warranty issues etc.
Imagine how many quality new bikes you could own with that one bike cost, @ least 4, which would give you much more joy in riding different trails & terrains 🤪
looks good, although I'm still tapping about on my 2006 asr-sl. Still quick (if a little whippy) and being a 26 wheel, more than a kilo lighter than this one
I saw you filming that day I was down there in my £1700 Vitus sommet. I should of stopped. Nice bike, no surprises at that price.
yeah I remember seeing you. Sorry for making so much noise!
@@GuyKesTV I didn’t hear anything buddy. I did think that might of been you filming. I’ll stop and say hi next time! What do you make of the parking machines going up at stainburn?
Nice video! Where abouts in nidd gorge are the trails at 8:00 minutes? I’ve been to nidd gorge a few times from Knaresborough side, beryl burton cycle path then I turn right just before the bridge to get to some bits, but haven’t found a lot. Any ideas?
Hi Connor, those trails are near the top car park on the far side, just below the main dog walking trail alongside the houses. If you give me a follow on Strava at Artful Codger and look for rides in that area
@@GuyKesTV thanks! I’ll have a look at your Strava later today :)
8g ?I’ll buy one for the trail and one for going to the shop for the papers in the morning
So cheap you won’t even need to lock it up outside the store right? 🤣
@@GuyKesTV 😂
So, how does it compares to the Epic 8??
I was just going to ask the same.
@@bt4288 Epic 8 is 20mm longer in reach and a lot cheaper but similar stiffness and positive power feel. Spesh create a similar ‘deep in the shock’ vibe by using an extended bottom out ‘jounce’ bumper. Internal storage on Spesh too if that’s your (non) bag
Guy, What’s your top 3 XC sleds so far?
I’m going to do a proper video on this in a few weeks as I’m at the official Pinarello launch soon and I’m hoping to ride an Orbea Oiz next week too. Right now though it’d probably be Epic, Spark, Cervelo
The yeti ASR doesn’t break into the top 3?? 😮 looking forward to your comparison video!
Given how good the wide range of bikes from Giant, Norco, Canyon, Scott, Merida, Trek and others are and the current discounts available, the marginal differences in these bikes, means you'd only be buying the Yeti if you were a Brand evangelist or have more money than sense.
@shaun1900 or , just because you just wanted what u wanted because life is short...😊
@@flow2tech at least try and make sense, when commenting
@@shaun1900 I see u can't comprehend comprehension
@@flow2tech And you can't spell or construct a sentence. Well done numb nuts.
I turned off as soon as i heard the price. I will still be getting an Epic 8. 😊
Definitely the better value choice
Aren’t they similar in price/spec level? At least the top end spec is less for the Yeti.
@@samd6405 i’ll be getting the comp one £4200.
@@samd6405 top end spec is £2k more for the Yeti
Hmm…s-works epic 8 is $14.5k, Yeti Ultimate ASR is $13.9k USD. The cheapest epic 8 expert is $7k….while the lowest cost ASR is $5.6k. Exchange rate issue?
Not as bad as round here . Chiltern hills . Worst they’ve been in recent memory 💩
🤮 HOW much! Come on, you have to admit, that's daylight robbery man 🤦
More dog less ASR
Jesus Guy, those trails look awful.
