I know this has been out for a while, I've been enjoying it in pieces. Rich, you are a beast. Sorry to see Old Pueblo went badly. A regular XC race would probably seem like a walk in the park to you.
This is my first year back riding after needing to get my shoulder pinned! Was 15 years ago I smashed my side to bits on a wet track logs man! Hate em lol but everytime I tried to get back on a bike it felt like I was in a cartoon thinking my arm was left on the bars when pulled up my shoulder popped out 3 time's! But the collar bone coming through the skin and ripping the arm muscle clean off the bone was the most painful thing ever! I spashed out a bit on an emtb just to make things abit easier to ease back into it! Keep the spirits hight bro!
Go Neil! Great intro, can’t help but think how much of an asset you’re going to be to the channel, as a human being, natural storyteller, and skilled rider! It’s been a pleasure watching (and learning!) from you in GMBN, and I’m curious as to how you’re going to influence the emtb side of the sport just by being you (think about how UA-cam and various channels has progressed the sport!). As to answer your question above, Corning not my 40s, I also got into Emtbs because I love tech as much as riding off the beaten path (I guess that’s the gadget loving beginner in me), adding a correctly positioned motor but programmed so that you still need to pedal means hills are now fun instead of something that will make me think twice about a ride without diluting the mtb side of cycling, and they are such adventure enabling and tech skills building challenging machines! The versatility also means I can share adventures with close ones too, young (trailer / shotgun/ retractable tow rope) or old, and varying skills level. Choice is how I define EMTBs if I had to choose one word :) Take good care of yourself, and I think we all here look forward to your next tales, on or off the bike :)
I just did 115km ride on my steel hardtail few days ago. It took me 11 hours. It was in local trails ( blacks, reds, blues) To be well hydrated and feed is the key. I was out od good and drink after 60 km and feel terrible. I came back to car after 75km and had some food and drink. Came back on trails and after half hour a was full of energy again. Great experience. My plan was to do it on summer solstice but ... work 😢 I am thinking now to go aroun Isle of Man in a one day but that's a lot of planing so maybe next year... BTW HCHT rulez 😂
Can you do a wee video on these gels and energy bars etc you guy's use for some of us that have never used them im quite interested in why alot of cyclists say they can't ride without them? Something i have never took personally or heard about till started watching YT vids
