2:02 Actually the Anime and the Manga are actually almost identical and only have minor differences. One of the reasons season 2 took so long was because they wanted to let the manga get ahead.
@@kaiyoYT while i dont have any problem with season 3, and while the source that was adapted from is badly paced.. you cant deny that it's full with details that lost in the anime that gives a more fleshed out characteristics for everyone, even the minor characters.
Yeah, even now after season 3 was completed, the anime was very faithful to the manga. I don't know why some people believe the anime was going to be different.
Now that we know (SPOILERS) that titans are humans, the metaphor becomes more clear. The real enemy of humanity is humanity itself, literally and metaphorically.
It's not about it being an enemy as much as it is about the fact that the nature of aggression lies within all of us and anyone could be capable of horrible things instinctually. There isn't a name that all evil belongs to, nor a villains, there is simply a dark side to a light side.
They are Eldians that were transformed in titans to kill other Eldians, the titans only represent the people that hate their own kind (race). Like today, white people are brainwashed since young to hate white people.

Let face the reality. Story wise, it isn't that great. It has a great plot how ever. The characters feel empty, except for Jean :p It is the action scenes in the anime, it is the battle tactics and plans and how they are clearly delivered with great map references. Manga art and story is done by one person, I can critique it and compliment is, still doesn't change the fact its achievement speaks for itself.

Seems strange to me that you could analyze Attack on Titan without mentioning the idea of the Jungian Shadow, of properly integrating your inner monster to be able to stand up to the monsters outside. This show always seemed to me to be about how the problems posed by the world aren't going to go away, even if you close yourself within a walled-off "safe space". You can either confront the monsters, by manifesting your own monstrosity, or tell yourself that you can hide - only to later watch them grow larger and tear down your walls.
While German nationalism was obvious, I seen Jung all over it. Integrating the shadow, needing a goal or responsibility, facing insurmountable obstacles to find out what you need to know about yourself. I studied psychotherapy at college and Jung is rarely fully understood by lecturers, let alone people like me.
There is also a strong element of Utilitarian philosophy in Attack on Titan like how characters repeatedly ask if they or there loved one's were "useful" and also how people are constantly being sacrificed for the "greater good"
I disagree with the inequality part Erwin uses the phrase 'we cannot defeat the titans as long as we dont suffer equally' or something like that there is a reason why erwin chose to lure female titan in the most secure wall, he knew that if the rich are safe, humanity will never be able to defeat the titans, in fact thats one of the reasons why erwin chose wall sina to conduct his operations in the first place. He also wanted to show the rich that they are equally vulnerable as the poor. this is further proven when the rich merchant is forcing people to squeeze his cart in the wall's tunnel in order to secure money when there is a food shortage after the wall's destruction, he uses his gaurds to force people to push the cart in the tunnel rather than letting people escape. and mikasa fixes that guy up
While you are right about what Erwin states, he himself is not the state. So the inequality/caste system still works because that is the institutional power. Erwin is essentially speaking truth to the system, so your point is interesting for how season 2 will reveal itself.
the only perfect societies capable of being actually accomplished are ones similair to schimits, all others are simply idialism. of course we should never seek a world where a person is used and thrown away like that but if society falls apart, facism must rise to recreate order. and it works, as seen in nazi germany. nazi germany not only had to pay massive war debt to the allied powers from ww1 due to them being blamed for it but also there was a world wide "great depression" so germanies money was fuckign shit, and there military? none. but nazi ideology turned it all around through nazi rule they became an empire capable of easily taking a country that had kept them at bay for all of ww1. now did they kill millions of innocent people to meet this goal? yes, however it can be argued in a time of massive crisis like that laid forth in attack on titan facist regimes become necessary even though they are not ethical
the bloodbath Aleric can conquer a decayed and dying Rome, doesn't mean he'll get anything close to what it originally was. A leader is depends on his subordinates for everything he does; the wellbeing of a group is entirely reliant on the character of its people.
They only brought in the subtitles when they were specifically talking about character dialogue that was important to the discussion. also using visuals to underline audio adds more oomph to the words.
Other than some theories about the plot that we now know are wrong such as the cause of the Titans... The PHILOSOPHY still applies. If anything, it gets reinforced with the inclusion of Marley and history of Eldia.
Spoiler alert The whole point of seasons 3 and 4 is that people inside the walls are not that different from people outside the walls. The only difference is how much knowledge (power) they have.
@@randomdude354 also the fact that they can become Titans and same for all eldians. Eldians arnt really similar to normal humans of the world if u think. One founding Titan can control the entire race and affect their thoughts and memories.
Yep eldians are nazi x 10000 Nazis are cute child to compare. Eldians, it's 2000 years of total domination of other nation and the éradication of all of them to the end. Yep nazis are friendly to compare.
Honestly, this series has a lot more political-philosophical themes than people give it credit for. Also, with what's been happening in the manga recently, it makes this whole discussion so much more interesting...
Beatness In the manga, it's focussing more on the political and social structure way more. It provides it with a much more realistic, interesting, thought provoking, and debatable take to the story. Introducing more aspects of axiology, logic, reason, ethics, and morality. The choice between Erwin and Armin was an illustration between doing what is "right" and doing what is "good." Good = Subjective = Armin/Eren Right = Objective = Erwin/Levi One cannot really say which choice was really the correct one. Fucking sick of these damn time skips though every 4 chapters.
Sam Brickey there ate already great channels for that. Im just glad pop culture is bringing anime to the attention. Maybe somebody watching this will watch it and come into anime. Then im sure they will Discovery FMA brotherhood. It was indeed very good
Brown shirts were part of the Hitler Youth and wider military uniform during WWII. They encouraged uniformity and a sense of equality amongst shoulders. They even went as far as to hand out free brown shirts to kids even if they weren't part of the Hitler Youth in an attempt to seem "Right" and "Good" thus encouraging them to join up to Hitler Youth. Hope this helps! :)
Hexinghaley They used brown because it was a readily available uniform in large numbers after the war due to the huge economic strain on the country during the 20's and 30's... The brown was used by the SA (The Nazi parties original paramilitary called the Sturmabteilung or SA that protected pro Nazi rallies and disrupted and fought non-Nazi parties) and then yes, used by the H.J (Hitler Youth)
MetroStalker It was actually surplus uniforms from the German colonial troops whom were disbanded once their overseas colonies were lost following the war.
2:01 No, actually Attack on Titan sticks to the manga in EACH AND EVERY way, it's one of those rare animes that change nothing from the manga to the anime.
One big point of view I felt when I watched the show was that soldiers are people, and every death hurts. It is rare to find a show that shows scores of casualties of war from characters that have speaking parts. There so many people that had a story that we got a glimpse into, but they were cut down in a painful death. There isn’t battalions of faceless people that get wiped out every episode; and when a comrade dies, the show displays the pain everyone affected. PTSD and grief are carried by the survivors. Every death hurts.
This is reinforced by Falco who speaks up for the side characters that get the short end of the stick. I hate the guy, but my point is, I appreciate that the fallen have voices; that they keep reminding us they were real people with dreams and individuality.
Fearl no the anime won't fucking departure from the manga it's going to follow it like season 1. have you even watched the trailer. stop believing bullshit click bait articles.
I would ask for a "The Philosophy of Starship Troopers" but I guess it would be too similar to Attack on Titan given the film is a satire on the novel's military fascism.
Well, but the royal family is doing that as a form of self-punishment (well, only the King carrying the Coordinate knows that at any given time). Basically they're dragging their own population down to pay for their past sins (and temporarily, as a form of protection from genocide). That's quite the opposite of nationalism and imperialism, even though it uses the same methods to create internal stability. It's MEANT to be oppressive, because Paradis is in fact a jail, and the King is both prisoner and warden.
I dunno, Marley gives me pretty strong Nazi Germany vibes, and he saw the Nazi philosophy stuff way before any of that comes into play in the story, so I'd give him credit for that one.
Still the philosophy is spot on, its like he said, first the eldians conquered everything until they themselves where the only enemies, then paradis eradicates the titans and now the enemy is another nation, now the question is, once its all over will the conflict stop?, I hope so but it doesnt seem likely
@@RobotWizard4209 A lot of shows have to cut content for time while keeping the story mostly the same. Full metal Alchemist Brotherhood did it. And going by when the manga and anime are slated to end they are doing the same as fma and having the last episode and chapter come out at the same time. What i meant was they were implying that the anime would go off manga like Tokyo Ghoul did. Which would make sense considering how long the manga takes to come out and the nazi allegories but that isnt what theyre doing as far as I can tell. The furtherest they may take it is alter the ending because the author can't make up his mind
"Eliminate one enemy, and another one pops up, until there are no people left to kill except your own population." ...yeah, Season 4 shows this perfectly.
They do, but not for good reason. Most millionaire companies do support a $15 min wage for example, it's small or local businesses that do not support it.
@@romanempire8705 Exactly. It's not kindness, it's a business strategy. While small businesses are opposed, they'll support a $15 minimum wage in addition to other ways to suppress small businesses. (Look up "Predatory Pricing" and how many tax subsidies go to larger businesses VS small ones). When the small businesses die out, large ones can lobby to lower the minimum wage and raise prices.
If we are doing Anime now, here is just 5 that comes to mind off the top of my head; Psychopass, Death Note, Ghost In the Shell (Any season or the movies) Parasyte, Paranoia Agent. That's just the ones I haven't see anyone else mention in the comments.
I think knowing what happens in the manga helps this theory. Example, the actions of the first king and the actions every king since has chosen to take. I'd rather not say what, but I'm pretty sure you should know what I'm talking about. The creating an enemy to survive thing
From Indonesia: I'm glad that I've finally found a smart, intelligent channel that actually discusses the deeper meanings & philosophy in anime (although not all anime obviously are worth such deep, critical, smart & intelligent level of discussions). Keep up the great work! there seriously needs to be more channels (or even people) like you/yours, in our sadly shallow, superficial, & stupid world/Human's society.
Yeah, it's nice to find Wisecrack. Especially since our own political system is straddling the Grey line of political authoritarianism/liberty than most western countries, being a functioning democracy that outlaws communism & atheism, and yet allowing wider press freedom than our neighbours Singapore and Malaysia.
Dranreb its normal for us, maybe he studies on an international school, or maybe he is just smart. Why do people see indonesians as a stupid country anyways?
Too bad season 2 didn't answer these questions. Only make more! Though Reiner's talk with Eren before the Armored Titan fight is still just... just the best moment ever. That's not a spoiler, by the way, Eren fights the Armored Titan in season 2's opening (which has a theme much like season 1's first opening), so you knew it was going to happen.
You beat me to it. There are actually multiple philosophical outlooks in Fate/Zero, so they would probably have to focus on the big 4/5: Saber/Lancer's honor code philosophy, Kiritsugu's "needs of the many out weight the needs of the few" philosophy, whatever Kierei is, Gilgamesh's ancient God-King philosophy, and Iskander's Ancient Greek/Macedonian philosophy of conquest. Still, it would be AWESOME if they did it!
I feel like they already point out their philosophies clearly enough. I don't feel like my mind would be blown by an episode covering Fate Zero (only having watched the anime).
I agree with this. I ended up disliking the show because of how the protagonist lost philosophical battles. I'd love to see an in depth disection of those philosophical debates. Might help me like it more.
I think it's meant to be "Sind Sie das Essen? Nein, wir sind der Jäger", which is "Are you the food? No, we are the hunter", In the show, this represents refusal to hide and let the Titans hunt them down. Instead they are going out to meet them. The hunted becomes the hunter,
Here I am wondering how the hell I never realized that line was in German.... Seriously, the last word was Jager. That's the, like, second most common German word used by non-Germans. How could I have missed that?
Have you heard the full length of the intro song? There is a rather long passage done in a proper, good German. Most likely by a native speaker. Search for Guren no Yumiya (Scharlachroter Pfeil und Bogen)
it's weird how many people in the comments are saying that the manga and new seasons are different. I read the manga and this video holds up perfectly lol just because the cast gets bigger doesn't mean the philosophy of the show changes, everything about the ideology is consistent. thank you for the video :)
I was just thinking that we were nowhere near where we are currently in the manga bur wisecrack made a fairly good anylysis of future concepts of the series
It is not the only ideology used however, and there is a lot more nuance and complexity shown right at the end with the marley arc than everything up to that point. There is a reason for which this philosophy is used rather than being the whole philosophy of the story actually, in order to break something down, you first have to introduce it, however, again it is not the only philosophy introduced in the whole story. So yes and no
Most of this holds up today but it doesn't explain most of the philosophy of the show presently. Now the show became so much more complex that you could make an essay on each character seperately.
@@zealrot4992 No the show shat on its ideas and figuratively assassinated its entire cast. Wisecrack’s video is perfect as it covered the ONLY message and theme AoT stayed consistent with.
@@smtandearthboundsuck8400 Dunno about the manga but the characters now made the show a lot more interesting. For example, Jean's philosophy of wanting a normal family life, Armin's pursuit for diplomacy, Reiner's internal clash between a soldier protecting his family and a valued friend. Gabi and Falco's realisation of the futility of war, Keith's inferiority complex. I grossly oversimplified the characters but if this story came out a 100 years ago, it would've been taught as a case study in our literature classes ...
Uses Dub to not have subtitles, uses subtitles anyway, confuses people who focused too much on the layout of the video and not the point the subtitles were meant to emphasize?
Here are recommendations: Berserk, FMA, Death Note, Ergo Proxy, Monster, Steins;Gate, Serial Lain, Ghost in th Shell, Akira, anything from Ghibli, anything from Satoshi Kon this is what happens when you open the anime flood gates
Erik Having it be the original sub would be quite awkward... They would have to manually color the text and have no control over when it appears. Also, why should anime get special treatment?
... The source of the subs doesn't matter. Fact is they have subs. Fact is they said they use dub to prevent sub. Not like they couldn't have put their own subs under the raw.
In the end, whether to use a dub or a sub comes down to which you enjoy more. And this video is not about enjoyment but about understanding how this fictional world works. And you can't deny that literally not being able to understand what the people say would definetly not help you understand the philosophy behind it. Also, Wisecrack is trying to be *somewhat* scientific here and they would lose a lot of credibility if they took footage of people speaking a different language and putting their own subtitles under it. The yellow markings would also pretty much lose their meaning because the text feels so disconnected.
the fundamental flaw with Schmits theory is that they need an enemy to keep the people from fighting each other. However the people would fight against each other because of inequality making enemies with each other based on differences. However, Shmit doesn't see a point in fixing that inequality, just diverting their focus to a common enemy. This works but the ultimate and best solution would be to bring fairness. If the titans left, if there was no work toward equality, then the people would fight each other. However, if after the titans left, the walls dividing the classes were torn down, and the social issues were worked on to get fixed, there could potentially be peace. Schmits main problem is that he doesn't actually believe in peace and therefore sees no need to work toward it.
That's his point, people want to oppose something. If you fix current reasons people fight over, they will find new reasons. You can see this is our society.. even though women have equal rights, they now start to bitch about minor issues. Once those are fixed, they'll find new ones. Once we stop fighting over race and sex, we'll fight over what kind of pants we wear.
+Lilliath You already see this online. People wishing others death because they like different shows than them. They have nothing to fight about, so they see someone with slightly different tastes and see red.
One of the main facets of Schmitts philosophy is that inequality is inherent. People have different levels of intelligence, attractiveness, and success. Interestingly enough the show Code Geass touches on this as well in the Britannian Empire. They are the most successful and powerful country because they use the strengths of human nature and conflict to their advantage. The result is a dystopian reality where fairness is irrelevant and after watching this I'm starting to see a lot of parallels between the societies from both shows. The general consensus seems to be that this way of thought definitely works, but are the human rights violations worth the stability and progress?
The funny thing is while indeed early on in the series Eren's society were mirrored like Nazi Germany's society later on in the manga it was revealed that SPOILER They were actually the Jews not the Nazis.
but people in the underground sold them like rare meat...also its like the nazi soldiers...they may have been orders from higer ups but prob not the higer ups that did the dirty work.
And its not the only one. Several western movies were adaptations of Japanese ideas. But the movies not being titled "All You Need is Kill" is kind of the key there. When the series is named EXACTLY like the Japanese counterpart, I usually find that its a cash grab to lure fans of the original to see something that ends up disappointing and being terrible overall. American made Godzilla movies, for example, weren't good.
I think my favorite part of the theme of this show and it’s society is how it constantly does badass shit and is doing a badass theme song and then people just die brutally and without any glory. The nationalistic military society emphasizes dying for your nation and giving your hearts, but they just get crushed and slapped around and eaten. It makes the viewer terrified of war, terrified of the military and it crushes the image of glorious battle and dying for your country
Always great to see the good animes evaluated for their philsophical, ideological and aesthetic qualities. As someone who just finished season 1, the video is very insightful and explanatory. Thanks Wisecrack!

I feel like this series needs to be revisited considering how the theming of the series has changed the closer it gets to the ending. It takes everything the show established in the beginning and flips it on it's head.

Eren replied to Pixis' comment that he hasn't noticed humanity uniting in the face of the danger the titans present. But sure, leave it out if that strengthens your argument.
A lot of Wisecrack videos, in my experience, sound smart until you watch a video about material that you are familiar with, at which point you wonder if they even watched the same thing you did.
And his retort goes nowhere as Pixis’ speech defines how the story moves forwards and the final panels prove it right. So nope, it isn’t a theme the show supported. The show fully supports what Pixis said instead. Blame hacksayama, it really wasn’t a good idea to make this philosophy your entire story. And out of context, but a character denying another character isn’t proof of anything regarding what the show supports. But you’re right in this scene in particular, Eren was framed to be in the « right » by disagreeing with that suggestion and Pixis even agreed with Eren. Too bad the hack forgets about it and makes the series exactly about that.
Having been reading the manga, it’s crazy how close you are getting to why the titans exist in the first place and where they come from. Well made analysis. 👍
I am suddenly reminded of the Dead Rising 2 Quote: "It's not the zombies you have to worry about, it's the people." Which was said right before a psychopath boss fight and is in the same game that reveals that the government are making zombie outbreaks to make more zombie cure for both cash and keeping important people alive.
Yet, they are basing some of the analysis on the dub, and dubs are often at odds with the original script because some US distributers prefer to make up new dialog that matches the lip movement rather than use an actual translation of the original dialog. Of course, it is possible that I simply don't remember the dialog they are citing, but I don't have time to watch the entire series again to find out whether it really existed in the original Japanese or not. I did do some spot comparisons of dub vs sub for this show, and the dub does come across as less substantial and significantly altered in meaning for at least some scenes.
Philosophy of *STUDIO GHIBLI* FILMS! I'd suggest Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Porco Rosso, Naussicaa of the Valley of the Wind, or Laputa: Castle in the Sky :)
The book is so much better! There's a key point in about Sophie's magic that the film rips out and repurposes. SPOILER: It's the fact that she has her own magic/power pre-Howl, and it works well for her, but she's just not aware of it because of her self-esteem based on her perception of fairytales (though not explicitly stated). Versus the movie where the first instance we see of Sophie's power seems to come out in reaction to Howl's crisis. Not a bad narrative, but strange how Miyazaki's films, usually featuring female empowerment, would change this. The Witch of the Waste changed a lot too.
"We are going to focus on the series not the manga because they are going to be different anyways"... really? cause so far the manga seems to be fairly close to the series and even the next season trailer seems to mirror the events in the manga
I'll be honest here, that sounds like some very solid philosophy Carl Schmitt had... no wonder the Nazis did so well. (even though they lost the war, they did extremely well, all things considered)
John Smith Right, even though we don't say it, our world still greatly uses his philosophy. US on drugs. Korea vs US. Islam vs everybody else. This willpower is what makes ideas seemingly bulletproof.
ᄆ "Islam vs everybody else" is slightly inaccurate. Islam itself is just as good/bad as any other religion, its just that right now, the radicalization/bastardization of Islam/religion as a whole is in the public eye. You make a good point, but I just felt that needed to be pointed out.
ᄆ it's a concept that has been utilized and rebranded many times, even before Carl Schmidt, it's hella effective on the uneducated mob/population, if somewhat disgusting.
I find it super funny that you guys figured it out immediately but now that the manga has made the connection super explicit the Internet is freaking out about it

In my philosophy class they shouldn't take homework from philosophers if they don't watch episodes of attack on titans
I disagree with the inequality part
Erwin uses the phrase 'we cannot defeat the titans as long as we dont suffer equally' or something like that
there is a reason why erwin chose to lure female titan in the most secure wall, he knew that if the rich are safe, humanity will never be able to defeat the titans, in fact thats one of the reasons why erwin chose wall sina to conduct his operations in the first place.
Tookar I already read the manga.... There's not much inequality suggested in season 2 apart from one arc
good that you noticed that classes in society have disavanteges like privileges for a few and mass starvation for the poor
the only perfect societies capable of being actually accomplished are ones similair to schimits, all others are simply idialism. of course we should never seek a world where a person is used and thrown away like that but if society falls apart, facism must rise to recreate order. and it works, as seen in nazi germany. nazi germany not only had to pay massive war debt to the allied powers from ww1 due to them being blamed for it but also there was a world wide "great depression" so germanies money was fuckign shit, and there military? none. but nazi ideology turned it all around through nazi rule they became an empire capable of easily taking a country that had kept them at bay for all of ww1. now did they kill millions of innocent people to meet this goal? yes, however it can be argued in a time of massive crisis like that laid forth in attack on titan facist regimes become necessary even though they are not ethical
the bloodbath
Aleric can conquer a decayed and dying Rome, doesn't mean he'll get anything close to what it originally was. A leader is depends on his subordinates for everything he does; the wellbeing of a group is entirely reliant on the character of its people.
"we are gonna use dub because otherwise we would have subtitles all the time"
**constantly uses subtitles anyway**
HECKproductions that's dead ass mad trueeeee tho
HECKproductions ikr that was bothering me
My thoughts exactly
HECKproductions maybe it's because the different subtitles would just cause even more clutter.
They only brought in the subtitles when they were specifically talking about character dialogue that was important to the discussion. also using visuals to underline audio adds more oomph to the words.
This video was way ahead of it's time honestly. You saw so many of these things coming in advance.
Season 3 just blew this video clear out of the water.
Not really
@@yonas6832 Why not?
Other than some theories about the plot that we now know are wrong such as the cause of the Titans... The PHILOSOPHY still applies. If anything, it gets reinforced with the inclusion of Marley and history of Eldia.
Spoiler alert
The whole point of seasons 3 and 4 is that people inside the walls are not that different from people outside the walls. The only difference is how much knowledge (power) they have.
@@randomdude354 also the fact that they can become Titans and same for all eldians. Eldians arnt really similar to normal humans of the world if u think. One founding Titan can control the entire race and affect their thoughts and memories.

Honestly, this series has a lot more political-philosophical themes than people give it credit for. Also, with what's been happening in the manga recently, it makes this whole discussion so much more interesting...
Beatness I was going to post the same thing, but you beat me to it. The manga has been super awesome lately.
Beatness
In the manga, it's focussing more on the political and social structure way more. It provides it with a much more realistic, interesting, thought provoking, and debatable take to the story. Introducing more aspects of axiology, logic, reason, ethics, and morality. The choice between Erwin and Armin was an illustration between doing what is "right" and doing what is "good."
Good = Subjective = Armin/Eren
Right = Objective = Erwin/Levi
One cannot really say which choice was really the correct one.

100 LOL XD
wait what do the brown shirts represent? Weren't the Jews forced to wear stripes?

Tyr Myrmidon a song of fire and ice is a novel series. The show is based on it.
Damn straight! Was just thinking about this a few days ago, especially since following the manga again ...
This is reinforced by Falco who speaks up for the side characters that get the short end of the stick. I hate the guy, but my point is, I appreciate that the fallen have voices; that they keep reminding us they were real people with dreams and individuality.

6:45 - 6:51 After watching season 3 this line means a lot more... 🙃
Manga Readers see a completely different situation from things in this video.
I know, but I just see...so many things from what they're saying.....meh....
The schmidt filosofy is just confirmed in the manga, the whole series could actually be seen as an essay or a study of it

Not So Human However slight a preference of difference there is within the manga, it's there.
I didn't read the manga(;_;)
Doesn't make any sense. Your comment that is.
They are different tho. In season 3 they cut out a lot of content and now in s4 their cutting content again
"Eliminate one enemy, and another one pops up, until there are no people left to kill except your own population."

Hahahahaha! Good one.

The Attack on Titan manga has answered so much. It feels a waste to just focus on what the anime has covered.

Too bad season 2 didn't answer these questions. Only make more! Though Reiner's talk with Eren before the Armored Titan fight is still just... just the best moment ever. Another good anime video would be The Philosophy of Fate/Zero.
Travon Armstrong yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
I feel like they already point out their philosophies clearly enough. I don't feel like my mind would be blown by an episode covering Fate Zero (only having watched the anime).
I agree with this. I ended up disliking the show because of how the protagonist lost philosophical battles. I'd love to see an in depth disection of those philosophical debates. Might help me like it more.
That's a must see to watch!
i am German and the thing they say at the begining basicly says "They are the food, we are the hunters"
Death Note or One Punch Man would make great philosophy of episodes
Brendan T. McLane one piece aswell
And Naruto and DBZ
it's weird how many people in the comments are saying that the manga and new seasons are different.

Says it's dubbed to prevent subtitles - Puts in subtitles.
Erik
Having it be the original sub would be quite awkward...
Then they should have put that as the reason. I never said they shouldn't have dub, did I?
Eh, all of their videos have subtitles anyways, so I think they said that because they didn't think of using the raw. Works out in the end tho.
If you are gonna do anime, I feel Death Note would be a great video.

When they disappear we get a crappy spin off years later that CN runs into the ground because MONEYZZZZZZZZZ
That's actually what is about to happen in the manga...
Hydrak Chew doesn't even make sense.
the fundamental flaw with Schmits theory is that they need an enemy to keep the people from fighting each other.
+Lilliath
You already see this online.
Communism never works
as the current personally motivated people we are yes, but we should ultimately work toward it

they should do this when the live action tv series comes out.
A Live Action TV series already came out. Or do you mean an AMERICAN Live Action TV series?
Well, that certainly is going to suck... Remember Dragon Ball Evolution? American live action adaptations of Japanese productions suck.
@Lucas Liso
Not necessarily. Edge of Tomorrow was an American adaptation of the manga All You Need is Kill, and it was pretty great.

Which was said right before a psychopath boss fight and is in the same game that reveals that the government are making zombie outbreaks to make more zombie cure for both cash and keeping important people alive.
LISTEN THEY DIDNT WANT SUB BECAUSE THWN THEY WOULD HAVE 2 SUBTITILES IN THERE, THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.
As someone up to date with the manga, I hadn't realized who RIGHT PIXIS WAS!!.

Look at that foreshadowing!!!!!
anyone else want a philosophy of stranger things episode
I’d love to see a video about how the show is now...
Philosophy of *STUDIO GHIBLI* FILMS! I'd suggest Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Porco Rosso, Naussicaa of the Valley of the Wind, or Laputa: Castle in the Sky :)
Yes!
Also Howl's Moving Castle
I personally didn't enjoy it as much as the ones I've listed above. Still good, but a little messy, as a film.
The book is so much better! There's a key point in about Sophie's magic that the film rips out and repurposes. SPOILER:
It's the fact that she has her own magic/power pre-Howl, and it works well for her, but she's just not aware of it because of her self-esteem based on her perception of fairytales (though not explicitly stated). Versus the movie where the first instance we see of Sophie's power seems to come out in reaction to Howl's crisis. Not a bad narrative, but strange how Miyazaki's films, usually featuring female empowerment, would change this. The Witch of the Waste changed a lot too.
DEATH NOTE !!!!!!!!!
1 hour video
+++!
"We are going to focus on the series not the manga because they are going to be different anyways"... really? cause so far the manga seems to be fairly close to the series and even the next season trailer seems to mirror the events in the manga
+ranhcase Not really, no.
there was a small detail in the anime that makes a huge difference later in the story and it has to do with Eren's dad.
zake deadman what are you talking about? nothing that's happened in the anime will affect the storylines around erens dad
Sam Dav Eren's dad is still alive in the anime. a lot of stuff happens in the manga that had to do with his death.
Which'll happen in the backhalf of season 2, curious why you think he is alive in the anime though?
this should be revisited now that we've reached the rumbling
This is really interesting, you should update this video now that y'all have two more seasons of material to expand on
philosophy of psychopass
It's crazy that this is coming from a real hypocrite, using a scapegoat.
Yeah. His philosophy is in everything from modern political debates to 1984.
John Smith How can anyone have respect for murderers.Shame on you..
12:08 there's a kind of answer in the manga. Some nations who didn't have titan powers were already fighting each other
I think after the titans disappeared, humanity would resemble the American society in the 1840's. Heavy optimism about expansion from the walls.
Philosophy of Ghost in the Shell. maybe S.A.C... oh and my second try to get philosophy of KonoSuba.
Lord Takkun The philosophy of Konosuba? Exploooooosion!
Lord Takkun gits will likely come out around the time of the new movie
He who would live must fight. He who doesn't wish to fight in this world, where permanent struggle is the law of life, has not the right to exist.
Ok Adolf
Technically we live in a world where we don't have permanent struggle anymore. We don't actually have to fight anyone but our own stupidity :P
I find it super funny that you guys figured it out immediately but now that the manga has made the connection super explicit the Internet is freaking out about it
Would you kindly do "The philosophy of Synecdoche, New york" ??
I second this
YMS already did/isdoing it. If you do not know, I highly recommend
(the name of the channel is YourMovieSucks)
This was a really good video. When I saw TOT season1, I thought it was kickass show with lots of awesome action. Reas the manga and I notice there were deeper thoughts and meaning then meets the eye. This vid showed me that those deeper thoughts where there from the beginning. Thanks man
Do the philosophy of Deathnote
Ive seen season2 and read the manga and everything but this review still gave me a lot to think about. You did a really good job with this!
Death Note
One Piece
Prison Break
The Sopranos
The Wire
Vikings
Game of Thrones (I don't think you have made a video on this yet)
Pokémon
The Man in the High Castle
Lucifer
Smiley Abedi Spec Ops: the Line wiukd make for a great episode even though that episode would be a minefield of spoilers.
imagine commander Erwin in german dubbed version when he is yelling .
like Hitler,s generals perhaps.
Do an evangelion video maybe?
Fred Scoot HERE HERE!
Eva philosophy is definitely worth a 2 part-er; 1 for the series, 2 for the series while including the movie.
Fred Scoot over the years, I've seen everything Evangelion, I still don't understand it.
It's very, very interesting Mr. Peace. If you ask the creator of the show it has no meaning, but look up "The Death of the Author" sometime.
sans All I know is Hideki Anno was depressed at the time and hated otaku (because they're shitty people anyway.) He wanted anime fans to reject anime by making the show as miserable as possible. Worked on me. Anime is garbage.
It's amazing how this is just another projection of personal ideologies on a story that is trying to tackle something much, much deeper.
Great video man. Y'all certainly put in a lot of work to make this and I learned a lot 👌❤️💯
here in 2021....
He had no idea how right he was
Revisit this topic after season 4 please, it has so much shit going on I don't even know what's right or wrong now
