Now that pickups are closing in on $100k, this may be an option for pickups and other luxury vehicles. Imagine how much you'd save on sales tax alone. It'll pay for your fuel for a long time.
I have a home in Castle Rock, CO. Every day many long trains with coal cars pass through the town on their way to the Comanche coal fired power plant in Pueblo, CO. We like to joke about the "Tesla fuel" they carry. This plant is huge, supplying much of the Front Range with electricity. The hypocrisy is unbelievable!

Workaround -- a small company like Chinook RV can produce an electric RV, even if nobody buys it, and then sell credits to the other mfgrs, like Thor, so they can sell to the green states. Something like that...
I'm a free-market guy, legislating behavior is rarely effective. Let the market decide! While not dismissing the pain this will cause, I am totally interested in purchasing an all-electric RV motorhome. Wish list: 250 miles or better range, 1500 watts solar on roof, one large battery supplying electric engine power and coach power both, low-wattage water heater and induction cooktop, energy-efficient mini-split heat pump air-conditioning and heating, on-demand electric water heater. And it must be fast-charge capable, with both NACS (Tesla) and CCS charging ports. I would trade my gas engine RV right now. The idea that the solar panels would add range miles so that driving down the road would be sun-powered would be very exciting. And boondocking would be awesome! Off-grid living with all amenities! If other states look at those regulations and think, we should do that too, within "their" own state, they're just adopting the same regulations. I've been mulling this over for some time because of all of the sea ports in CA and the CA demand to truckeing comapanies being forced to only bring EV trucks of newer trucks meeting CAA standards into ports to tranport goods. It would seem manufacturerers of large vehicle would get on board and fight this issue through the courts. We cannot allow the Lft Coast states to define what the rest of the nation does. I drive a small diesel truck camper. What the Feds and states should do is outlaw internal combustion generators. Solar generation provides all the power needed for off-grid camping. Low voltage air conditioners are now available too. If large rig campers require power in excess of what they are willing to supply themselves, they need to go plug in at a KOA where they should pay by the foot.

It is NOT unconstitutional. Trump's supreme court restored states rights. And their legislatures work for their citizens, not for the RVIA. Not sure if there is a compromise here... most voters want clean air more than helping the few folks with RVs. Edit -- only 6,000 new RV sales per year in California.

I drive a small diesel truck camper. What the Feds and states should do is outlaw internal combustion generators. Solar generation provides all the power needed for off-grid camping. Low voltage air conditioners are now available too. If large rig campers require power in excess of what they are willing to supply themselves, they need to go plug in at a KOA where they should pay by the foot.
