    Hello! I'm a Parrot dev and I really love your video :D In latest release, we improved the firefox's bookmark: added more OSINT services, researches and learning resources. We are also working on a special network installer with Calamares installer so user-end can do fully customized Parrot. I hope you can do a review about newer edition in the future :D

      i agree, kali is great but Parrot OS feels better to me and more user friendly. Super easy to find anything you need on both the home edition and security edition. I have a headless version on my pen pie, and security edition on my pen laptop. I have a home vm on my main machine that i like when i want to use non windows for some time. Windows is my daily simply because of common use. for me its as easy as downloading the OS and its good to go and start pentesting.

      I have searched for books that work as a guide, and education tool for working with Parrot OS, and haven’t found any as of yet that are comparable to ones published for Kali Linux, I mean there are so many titled like “ The Kali Linux Penetration testing Bible “, “ Kali Linux Hacking “, “ The Ultimate Kali Linux book: Perform advanced penetration “ etc, etc, . . . . Parrot OS = 0, I believe I found one in Japanese, and one due to come out in December of 2024. 🤷🏻 I mean maybe it doesn’t have to say something like “ Become a Pro with Parrot Security Linux “, but kinda of ? Why hardly anything seems to exist.

      I think you have a valid point there, Ajith 👍
      It does make me think though, and this was pointed out to me by one of my LinkedIn connections; Kali and Parrot are both pentesting distros, with different 'philosophies' of use. • @daniellowrie
      @daniellowrie  Рік тому

      Parrot uses the Aptitude package manager for installing software through packages. apt is just an updated, more "user-friendly" version of apt, so either `apt install` or `apt-get install` should work for you if you're installing a software package. git is a tool for working doing version control and working with software repos like Github and Gitab, or for your own local repos. `git clone` will create a copy of a repo. I hope that helps. Cheers!

      Sorry to hear that you're having trouble. I'd look to Google and VMWare forums as that will probably be the fastest path to a fix. Maybe somebody reading the comments here has had this issue and knows of a solution and can send it to you.

    • @daniellowrie

      I'm so sorry if I didn't make the intent of this video clear. This was one of my earlier videos, and I'm just a random dude on the internet, so maybe I could have titled the video a bit better, but I shot from the hip. The intent behind this video was to take a look at what Parrot had to offer at the time and ask myself if I thought it was better than Kali for me. I also was trying to ask the viewer what they thought about Parrot and Kali and which one they preferred and why, which I got a lot of insights to that end in the comments. I hope this helps clear things up and thanks for watching and commenting. 👍

    LoL Y did he do this video without experience. Its a one time video and it would be better if he used it for some time and then make it. Y did he make this video if he is unsure and dnt have experience. What to prove ?

    • @daniellowrie

      I made this video to let others watch me learn about and get my first impressions about the current offering of Parrot. It wasn't meant to be a tutorial, opinion piece, or full review, but just more of a 'hey, what's this?" video. I hope that helps to clear thing up.

      After spending a few months with Parrot as a daily driver, I have to agree with this. That said, that is just our opinion and I think Parrot has some good qualities, but for me Kali is just more comfortable and more 'my style'. Both distros are ever-evolving, so that may change in the future, but right now I'm rockin' Kali.

      But one advantage that parrot os have is that it is lighter and has more tools than kali.
