    Thanks for the video on the installation! Made the job easier for me. I mounted my front camera in the middle and the rear on the license plate light housing. The wire fits inside easily and routed behind.

      Awesome Peter… the only worry I had about a center mounted front was wheel travel…. You are likely fine…

    Hello Robert!
    I enjoyed your installation video of the Van True Dash Cam! You made it look so simple. Getting and installing one of those is in my not so distant future😊! Thanks for the tutorial!!!

    I have a 2023 bagger and mounted the rear camera on the top shelf up against my new Corbin Fire and Ice saddle. Lewis at Electronic Connections sold me a shark fin antenna that promises to solve the poor FM/AM reception. I will now relocate the camera to the license plate holder shelf like you did and place the antenna where the camera was. I hope this works...I've tried several things to no avail with improving reception.

      Rodney, good luck with the install. I agree my radio reception is horrible as is my phone call audio… I think because of my three way Bluetooth tooth… phone to bike to helmet. Looking for a better solution there. What color is your 2023?
      Thank you for watching and supporting my channel!

    Great video Robert. Thanks for taking the time to film the install and post it. It's always nice to see how much work goes into running wires and selecting an install location. You covered everything well. After seeing the video quality I may just order a unit for myself. Ride safe my friend.

      It’s a good product. You may find that you never use the remote… you can control everything from the app…I know a few who are installing that under the seat with the main unit.

    Nice work Robert. Camera picture quality looks great! Ace Hardware will have those 3/8” rubber grommet to complete the rear license plate mount entry/exit hole. Hats off to you for working out in your garage this week. It’s 105 in my garage here in the Mid Cities. Now you need one of those ductless wall mounted AC units. Thank you for the helpful video.

      Hey thanks for the tip RG, I will go look for those grommets... and man, I reached that limit in the garage where my mind was saying, perhaps this wasn't the best idea... when it cools down I'm looking forward to meet up with some coffee :) Stay safe and cool my friend !

    I mounted the main unit in the trunk, all of the wiring is long enough to reach. There is a grommet on the left side front of the trunk allowing access to under the seat. The remote, I mounted to the right side of the center control panel.

      Wayne, mounting the remote to the center control panel crossed my mind too. The trunk is a great idea for the main unit... If I start to have issues with the GPS I may move mine. Thanks for the info and for watching !!

    Great install and thanks. Question on the rear camera wiring. I like where you installed the rear camera but not a fan of the wiring. I am just curious if there is enough room behind the camera maybe up a little to punch a hole for the wires? Thanks again.

  • @jimcarleton
    @jimcarleton 11 місяців тому +1

    Robert - great job showing the install. With the exception of your extreme heat, which we're getting this week up here in Ohio, it looked pretty straight forward. Can you narrate to the video while recording? Would this be an alternative to a GoPro system for capturing road trips for future remembrances? Thanks for walking us through. My bike is an '05 so installation may be slightly different.

    • @robertwhitemoto
      @robertwhitemoto  11 місяців тому

      Hey Jim, thank for watching and commenting. I think the video quality would be good enough for vlogs, but the stabilization of a new GoPro simply cannot be beat. Also there's the matter of the wind noise, so I would have to cut the sound being recorded from the dash cameras and narrate into some other device and pair it all up later. More trouble than it's worth. There's plenty of cable and I've heard a few folks talk about mounting the base unit in the trunk or saddle bags rather than under the seat. Ride safe up there and stay cool !!

  • @torquer9669
    @torquer9669 11 місяців тому +1

    Cool. Maybe a dumb question, but why not drill the wire through right behind the rear camera, on top? Just a little stabilization and more resolution and you could use that for motovlogging rather than the unreliable go pro or distorted 360

    • @robertwhitemoto
      @robertwhitemoto  11 місяців тому +2

      Torquer thanks for watching and commenting. Right behind the camera was not clear from behind the license plate holder… and well I’ve already drilled. You might be able to make that work however. I’ve had good luck with the GoPro and if getting video off that VanTrue device is always as complicated as it was for this video, no way. Ride Safe!

      Could you elaborate on how it was complicated to download from his unit? I am a complete virgin as to dashcam use. I was very interested in this unit as I felt it would be more to my liking to have a permanent mount rather than something mounted to my helmet or a pole. I have no interest in vlogging, I just want it as a safety feature in case of an accident or theft. I truly enjoy both Cruisemans and your vlogs and star each day check8ng for updates. Be safe. Happy Motoring!

    For my dashcam microphone I used a very small microphone wind muff. Those that are used on small cameras. Does wonders for the sound.

    • @robertwhitemoto
      @robertwhitemoto  11 місяців тому +1

      Good idea! I will likely turn off sound as it’s not what I need from a dash cam on a bike. I just want to show that an idiot pulled out in front of me or hit me from behind :-)

      @@robertwhitemoto it could of course also proof that you have used your horn to warn the other driver, or that he came up to you and used some silly excuses or accused you of causing the accident. Or you became victim of road rage, god forbid.
