After 50 years I couldn’t handle my 1911 pistols any longer.
      Sold them,and got a S&W 22 compact.
I carry it daily, and group at 3 inches at 15 yards.

The algorithm dropped this on me today and had to say I enjoyed the content. My wife bought one as her first gun to make things easier to manipulate with her RA. After firing it a few times at the range with her I ended up getting one for my CCW because of how it shoots (and eventually we'll both be old and why not think ahead?). I find the 13 round clip is a good fit for IWB carry, with the 15 in a mag carrier. I don't own a fanny pack...

As others have said, the Equalizer feels a lot like shooting a 1911. Easy rack slide, up to 15 round capacity, low recoil, easy to break down and clean, choice of thumb safety or not, optics ready, and reliable. What's not to like.

My sons bought this gun for me this past Mother’s Day and I will be forever grateful! I have carpel tunnel and the easy slide on this is simply amazing! I can handle my son’s Sig after a lot of training and practice but it requires far more strength than I may or may not have. The equalizer is fool proof!! My daughter who is very petite and use it as she has very small hands as an adult woman. It’s a beautiful gun and shoots perfectly….so much so I think my older son loves it more than me😂 I gave him the honor of shooting it for the first time…big mistake…he’s in love with it now. And because he knows I carry he doesn’t even bring his anymore😆typical kid…just take mom’s gun. I would buy this gun a million times over! And the double safety is chef’s kiss🤌🏼 what more could you ask for!!!!

Dude you look like such a nice dude, the overall vibes of this video were amazing, only downside is it was too short! You gained a new viewer!
Also I am considering buying the Equalizer or the Shield Plus as my first handgun, I am used to the SW FPC which has the same mags and controls of both of them, I'm just wondering if the extra .75 inches of the barrel lenght of the Equalizer would make it more uncomfortable to Appendix carry compared to the Shield plus. So far I am leaning more for the Equalizer due to the rail and the grip safety, any recommendations?

    • @dangerousfreedom
      @dangerousfreedom  Місяць тому

It certainly can make it a little less comfortable, I don’t love the Shield a whole lot, but it certainly does have its advantages. I just don’t know which I would pick. It’s a tough choice.

    I enjoyed this review. Subscribed.
Anyway... I have seen reviews of the Equalizer where the tacticool guys shoot it and proclaim they would never buy a pistol like that. Well, news flash, the target audience for these guns is NOT them.
Your review was real. Understanding who the gun is marketed to (and acknowledging that even experienced shooters might dig it).
My wife carries a Shield 9 EZ and she has put many thousands of rounds through it along with many other pistols. I have shot it quite a bit. She prefers the EZ to shoot and carry because it's slim, it manages to soak up recoil really well, and the grip is not overly sandpaper-ish.
I like the grip safety for her since she often carries in a belly-band. Put your thumb on the back of the slide when pushing it into the holster and nothing can happen because the grip safety is not defeated. If something were to get against the trigger from her bending, stooping, or rubbing against something the same applies.

Traded in my EZ 9mm to help reduce the cash outlay. I love it and my best friend who I shoot with bought one. We are seniors needing the EZ features for racking and felt recoil. I'm 17 and my buddy is 5 years older. We decided we both needed a good carry equalizer for protection. The 13-rounder works best for me as it conceals fine for me thus the 15-rounder is my backup. I can see the need for the 10-rounder for some clothes I need to wear. This allows me to carry a 9mm and not just one of my 380s like my P 365-380. Nerve damage in my hands made the P 365 in 9mm too hard to tolerate. One shot and it felt like my hand vibrated painfully for a minute or so making following up shot poor. Nerve damage and arthritis make a difference in what you can shoot consistently. Some of you know what I mean and others will eventually learn. Macho only gets you so far when your hand hurts so much that you can't pull the trigger or flinch due to the pain. When younger my hobby was survival camping Native American style so I had the strength and motivation to enjoy tough things. Camping wearing cutoffs and moccasins only and carrying a knife was about it. Now, not so much.

I've been shopping around for a decent carry option for a while, but also a decent range gun anyway. I've also been looking for something for my mom who has wrist issues.
While I don't care so much about the easier slide, I wanted something with a grip or trigger safety, and a standard thumb safety. I was having trouble trying to find something with that these days. I was thinking of a sig 365macro Until I heard of this without sacrificing capacity or aftermarket upgrades. I'm not big on the slide being easy to rack because I do need to work on my hand strength, but I can't complain if it is easier. I was thinking of an EZ for my mom, but this seems like the best for both of us.

I've shot this 3 times and love it. I'm a huge fan of the Shield Plus, CSX, and M&P Compact as well. I definitely plan on buying the Equalizer and CSX for the easier slides, but I'm torn between the M&P 2.0 Subcompact and Shield Plus for an SHTF carry gun. I mainly say that because while I do struggle with some pistol slides and therefore would benefit from an easy-rack slide, I think it would be good to have a second or even third carry or all-purpose option (I've also found the P365XL to be pretty easy to use) to choose from or to use as an alternative if for some reason the Equalizer should "wear out" or run into a significant issue in the event or aftermath of "things going sideways" (if you're catching my drift).

@@dangerousfreedom IKR? The question is which ones for backup. I suppose I could just say "to hell with it" and try to get my hands on all of them, especially since I've had positive experiences with each one and can safely say I wouldn't have any trouble trusting my life to any of them. I guess I'll have to wait and see in the meantime. Thanks for doing this review.

I think it looks dumb, but in using it a whole bunch, it didn’t affect me at all. I shot USPSA single stack for a year and I can’t count the times that I didn’t fully depress my grip safety on my 1911 but with this one I didn’t have it happen at all.

Yeah im a big fan of this firearm and the EZ line. Not so much the grip safety. After 2 months of training with it, it fires 8/10 times flawlessly when drawing from a holster. 2/10 times if my grip isnt high enogh or at the roght angle or compresed enough ...it wont fire.
8/10 are good odds but not betting my life on it if im fighting off wresting an attacker or whatever. I sold it and bought one without a safety. I eant to make damn sure when i draw and fire it goes pew pew 100% of the time.

I got a slide bite yesterday when I was dry firing! Didn't break my skin, just left a grease spot in my palm. I've been carrying 2.0 for about 3 years now. I have a green dot (easier for my old eyes, 74, to see). I also put a apex, flat face enhanced trigger kit on it. My gunsmith got the pull down to around 3.6-3.8 lbs. So when I first felt the trigger, I shook my head a little. But my instructor/friend said to spend some time with the stock one. If you change the trigger pull, it could go against me in court, if I ever had to use for self-defense. I did go ahead and put a 407K X2 green dot on it. I just bought it this past Sat., the 8th and going to the range tomorrow. Looking forward to it. One more quick comment and I'll shut up: First time watching your video. It came up in a youtube search and I've been reading all I could about this Equalizer. I didn't find a single review that had more than the gripe safety and the trigger as the only cons any of them had! Very faint reset, I would also liked a more audible reset.
