You are right Luis, reliable lighting is very important - particularly in a crisis situation!

This is a application I recommend for anyone building a off grid cabin or home, I have been using a 12v lighting system for years, My shed has this type of lighting as well, this application will last for years after a total grid down, and can be kept working for decades afterwards just by scavenging car parts lol

    Good rundown.

Just a simple explanation of how it's done, with one solar panel, one car battery or better a deep cycle battery you can light up a small home running all night, these modern 12v light bulbs have a energy savings of AAA+

It can also be done with 24v, just get a 24v to 12v buck transformer, My shed runs lights without the inverter, they run directly from batteries, its super efficient.

Thank you. Do you have a link or detail info on that transformer please?

Go to Amazon and write 48v to 12v buck transformer, all options will pop up right away.

we have our RV totally decked out with solar and run as much DC as we can...and we bult a solar generator (ha ha I hate that term...we have a solar panel, a couple batteries and an inverter) and try to run as much DC from that as we can. I always feel bad for how much power I loose turning it from DC to AC.....I like your system for sure. Less to go wrong.

Running as much as you can on DC is the key to efficiency, my lighting and water pumping are run on DC bypassing a inverter , I also have 12v DC outlets throughout my home. I designed my shed the same way. I have been super busy getting ready for hurricane season, I also have to take my computer to the shop, its not turning on lol

    Great system.
Someone told me yesterday to buy 12v switches because ac switches will weld.
    🤷‍♂️
    Where'd you get transformer?

Who ever told you AC switches weld is correct if higher DC current is used, My 12v lighting system is proven, None of my AC switches have failed, and you know my system has been working for over 1 year on YT and about 2 years before I decided to put videos on again, I have had multiple DC switches fail using on 12v lol, My system is the Ultimate prepper lighting system, it can be fixed with common parts that are easy to get now, or scavenged in a apocalypse to keep running...You can listen to those who think they know or those who have been doing this stuff for years, I'm a plumber and electrician, my shet works lol....You can get these on Amazon or Ebay, don't go lower than 20 a, this way you can add some 12v outlets that have USB for phone and tablet charging, Those are called Magnadyne, look them up, all this works with 12v, look at the buck transformer for what ever volt your main system will be, if you want to run a fridge, go with 48v and get the 48 to 12v buck transformer for lights, your going to flip on how smart and how well this works.

@@FinehomesofNewHampshire with this system you can have lights up in no time, just get batteries and charge controller first, if your not going to run 220v AC...Look into a simple cheap reliable inverter, mine doesn't want to die lol, I bought it as a junk throw away inverter lol... start off like this to get your feet wet, then upgrade if you want to but your going to be impressed how well this works, building takes a bit of money, you will save a lot this way.

Happy Easter Sunday. Are you not worried about creating nitrous oxide if the thing melts? 😹👍

Wrong gas, Hydrogen is the gas produced by batteries, but as you already know, Time has proven me right again, it's funny how people that have no experience talk like they were experts lol, thats why I ignore and cut my own path.

48 volt lights are simple to get

    • @MosaicHomestead
      @MosaicHomestead  8 місяців тому

Yes, I know, I've bought them before, the reason for this video is preparedness, this video was actually for a prepper that was building a off grid cabin but was running a 48v solar set up. 48v lights are easy to get now, but if it ever hits the fan, it's easier to get 12v lights anywhere, this includes a abandoned car, there are tons of 12v items everywhere, even a O2cool fan will work on 12v.

I have been using 12v lights for years, build a 12v system and light up your home all the time, power goes out here all the time, but I'm never in the dark.
