  • Come with us as we visit historic Pilot Mountain North Carolina and hike beautiful knob at Pilot Mountain State Park!
In this video, we hike around the base of Pilot Mountain with its impressive quartzite features and long views. Pilot Mountain rises to 2,421 feet above sea level, and seems out of place given the relatively flat landscape below.
After hiking the Jomeokee Trail.and Little Pinnacle Overlook, we head down to the historic town of Pilot Mountain, NC, where we get some much needed refreshment at "Main Street Coffee" shop, which is a cute coffee and ice cream shop with nice outdoor seating. We then stopped by the Tilted Ladder to check out this restaurant, and because we had our dog (and it was super hot), we decided to bookmark this place for a future visit.
While in the area we camped at Greystone RV park in Pinnacle NC, just a few miles from Pilot Mountain State Park.

N.Carolina is my favorite State in the U.S that I've visited so far taking into account the scenery and the friendly people. Its gorgeous, the Air just smells fresher in N.C. for some reason. I love N.C.I call it Gods playground.

I've been fascinated with Pilot Knob for 30 years. I've always wondered about hiking it. Thank you so much for this video. BTW, I don't think those were hawks, (which tend to fly solo). I believe they were buzzards, which often fly in groups.

You're probably right... they were waiting for us to croak on the trail so they could have dinner !

Very nice. We’ve been to the mountain once before but not the town. We will go again soon and visit both this time.

Loved this video - we have not done this trail before but it is going on the list for our next trip to Pilot Mountain! Beautiful scenery. And we loved Rileys backpack and the icepack tip! Might have to steal that one haha! Safe travels!!

I have a question. We enjoy watching your videos and get ideas for places to visit and things to do. We have a 25 foot Lance pull behind camper and have considered buying a Class C or something similar to what you guys have. Do you pull your vehicle behind you? If not, how do you “get around” to local attractions?

Hi Marti... thanks for watching! We normally tow our vehicle on a tow dolly trailer... sometimes if we're not going far, my wife just drives behind. We have also just rented a car when we get to the destination (kind of expensive though) or take an Uber. We are currently researching what car to buy for flat towing as this seems to be the best choice overall when traveling long distance
