GUIDE TO STONE MOUNTAIN STATE PARK (RV CAMPING, HIKING, SWIMMING) | NORTH CAROLINA STATE PARKS | RV

⛰ Seems like an odd place for a dome shaped mountain?! 🔥 Millions of years ago a big lava bubble underneath the surface created this 700 ft mountain nestled in the foothills of North Carolina. It’s now the main attraction of Stone Mountain State Park, which in our opinion is one of NC’s most underrated State Parks.
Between hiking the summit of Stone Mountain, breathtaking views, tons of wildlife, waterfalls, natural waterslides & swimming holes, we really enjoyed everything the park had to offer. Can’t recommend spending a day or two visiting this place enough!
✅ RV Campground - Big Rig Friendly (50 amp/water/no sewer)
✅ Stone Mountain Summit Trail (4.9 mile loop)
✅ Stony Falls (200 ft) - use caution - very slippery
✅ Widow Creek Falls (70ft) & swimming hole
✅ Located less than an hour from Asheville, NC
🛠 Unfortunately, we got delayed leaving as we noticed a broken shackle link, which connects the wheel bracket to the leaf springs. We bought the parts for under $50 but unfortunately had to call A&A Mobile RV Service to replace the shackle links because we didn’t have all the tools to do it ourselves. He was at the campground right away, very friendly and efficient. Would definitely give him a call if in the Stone Mtn area and need mobile rv repairs.
