    Thanks for sharing....one thought though and it is not a criticism, because I think it looks great....
    As I said , one thought....how and what is resistance. At the starting point....it looks like a standing lateral raise.= 0 resistance...now I am not quite sure but what if one had an angled rod [ where the plates are put ] to increase the resistance and keep it constant....is that where cable machines are more beneficial, just asking .....it will be interesting to get an answer....well done though....

      Thank you sir. And im not sure how much it would help with the load at the beginning, but i do belive that cable systems with pulleys are better for that reason. I made it a little more narrow then myself so the the pads are resting on my arms at the beginning of the movement. It helps but you can still feel the weight curve some.
      Also were the arms slide into that pipe, i would like to use a bearing system instead of just a sleeved pipe. It would make it feel smoother and feel more solid.
      Thank you for your suggestion though, i think i might look into seeing what i can do to make it better.

      Just takes a little practice, you can get a welder from harbor fright for 100 and start learning how to weld. Also everything i was lookomg buying is 8 to 12 weeks if you order it and some are even saying 16 weeks, all because of covid has everybody buying everything up. So it was either waite 3 to 4 months or build it myself 🤣

    What did you use for hinges?
    I've been thinking of attempting to make a standing lateral raise (non elbow pad rather with handles) but cant seem to figure out what to use for hinges.

      I used a 7/8s inner diameter pipe, then found a 13/16s outer diameter pipe to sleeve inside the bigger one. I used lock sleeves on both sides of the smaller pipe to hold it in place of the larger one.
      You can use whatever size pipe that you like. i welded the smaller O.D. pipe to the swinging arm of the unit that your lift. Then i welded the larger I.D. pipe to the structure were i wanted my arms to be. Then sleeved the smaller pipe into the lager one and used the locking sleeves to hold them were i wanted them.
      You can also look into "pillow block bearing" thats what a lot of major gym equipment manufactures use, but they can get pricey. If you go with the pillow block just make sure you know if you want a fixed bearing or a swivel bearing. The swivel will give a massive rang of forward backwards and side motion its basically a 360 swivel.
      So the pipe you weld to your lateral arms will slide into your pillow block and the have set screws to lock the pipe in place, just make sure the pipe will fit the bearing without to much slop.

      It was all free materials and done with a 110 flux. So no shit it isnt the best lmao
