@@jazon80r13 Not really? In a time loop setting, you "lose" when your actions cause more misery to the people in the loop than the actual loop itself. Cuz that's the indication of your morals dying. Siffrin kills a child. Not only that but rips off/eats their face to do so. In a loop setting, the moral death is usually worse for all involved than the looper themselves dying. Because once the looper stops caring, once they start to actively use the loop to hurt rather than help, that is the moment that any hope of breaking the loop either ceases, or stops mattering. Because there's no meaning in victory if the person who comes out the other end is a monster who can't live with the guilt of their own sins. That's more or less the reason every time loop story is one of perseverance. That moral death becomes just as if not an even more important antagonist than anything else. And seeing a character push past that, overcome it, recover from it, etcetera... That is, in no small part, what makes so many loop stories great.

@@Crazykidthree33 it's because loop is trying to hide the fact their the same person. a literal blink and you'll miss it. it's supposed to only be there for a few frames
it's because (spoiler alert) Loop is a previous time looper, there to help Siffrin because Loop didn't have a helper themselves, they wanted to give Siffrin what they didn't have, a chance at a happy ending, there's an ending explaining that.
For anyone interested, Steam currently has this and Slay The Princess in their Monochromatic Time Loop Bundle, and also has this game on their daily deal right now, so it's actually only 16 or so for the next seventeen hours as of writing this comment! I definitely am buying the game to support the devs, and to rip open myself, but in the interim, I'll just be pocketing my purchase and heading over to the full VOD for this game. Thanks for introducing me to another lovely game that is sure to rip apart my insides, Jello!
I want you to know that your comment directly led to me buying both games. Not sure when I'll play them, but two indie developers have definitely been supported because you posted this today. Thanks!
@@ichypapower Would honestly highly recommend it also; I looked up Slay The Princess while purchasing In Stars and Time and while it's got a very different vibe to it (StP's horror is more aesthetic while the core of the narrative is kind of a love story) the sheer work put into it is immense (of the two I definitely am more crazy about ISaT but I'm so glad they're being sold together. Would never have given Slay The Princess another look otherwise and it's wonderful).
9:33 That was me! I was the chatter Vixen was quoting! I’m super pleased that made it into the highlights [Laying on my stomach, kicking my legs, head propped up on my palm, blushing]
BRUH the fact that Jello acknowledges at 9:50 that pineapple shouldn't taste spicy but casually dropped that he finds rose in lemonade a bit spicy in one of his "tasting all lemonades" videos... You are allergic to rose my dude! It's actually living in my head rent free.
I never said rose tastes "spicy", I said it tastes like vinegar or perfume, which it absolutely does at high concentrations. I drink rose stuff pretty regularly, I'm not allergic to it.
God that ending broke me. I'm so glad it isnt actually the end of the game, I can't imagine ending a time loop story with the character never getting out, just breaking down more and more...
Damn now I actually do want to see a game like that. There's no good ending, there's only a downward spiral your character goes through until they've literally exhausted every option possible down to the last minute choices, only for their final choice to be embracing apathy and not even entertain the loop anymore, not bothering to interact or acknowledge anything as the cycle spirals in on itself to seconds of eternity passing like whirlpool swallowing itself. They've killed everyone, saved everyone, in each possible quantifiable sequence, in every observable universe, they've done it and it all just comes back to the start. Basically going through the entire 5 stages of grief, slamming face first into a brick wall at Depression, and never being able to go through it. What happens to a man who's given the chance to relive a single moment in their life for the rest of eternity with no way to move on? He'll eventually stop trying. Maybe add an extra secret ending where the loop expands past the previous point by about a hour or two so dedicated gamers get rewarded for their efforts. Now what should we call this nihilistic psychological horror existentialist nightmare? Maybe *'BOROS'?*
Yeah, I think I saw it from the OMORI fandoms memes or something, but basically, the more f--ed up the game is, the more memes and goofiness the fandom has!
All the kudos in the world to Marissa Lenti, playing Siffrin in his playthrough. You all should buy the game of course (have it on switch) but honest to god Jello’s playthrough is worth the complete view because of how hard Lenti went. Thank you guys for introducing this to me.
It’s telling that watching/playing this game in full is 1000 percent better than a highlight reel. 40 minutes doesn’t do ISAT justice. BUY THE GAME ITS SO GOOD!
Specifically, one of the reasons for this is that there is a TON of extra dialogue and hidden details to find based on when you talk to certain people or interact with certain things. So much care and detail went into this game, it's incredible!!
I just want to say. Even without knowing the ending, this video broke me. You all made me so invested that I had to do some self reflection. I’m going to play this game because of this amazing video. Thank you jello crew
Honestly I love games that are like “hehe look how cute and fun this is!” and by the end of it I’m reevaluating my entire outlook on life Other games I’ve played like that are OMORI, Outer Wilds, and I Was a Teenage Exocolonist
God, this game is not only peak timeloop nihilism but somehow manages to evoke the hopelessness and loneliness of depression. Honestly heartbreaking... and only $20? Fingers crossed it gets popular.
@@raven-starcatcher I’d argue outer wilds is more personal, because the themes it encompasses apply to real life a significant amount more then JRPG style adventures. Sure, there is less dialogue, but the all encompassing idea of the literal end of the [spoilers] and the thousands of civilisations that came before us and how they carried us to where we are today. Especially considering, this adventure, no matter how bad it gets, INNATELY has the issue that there is an obvious solution. This can make a great story, but it means that it will never be hopeless, because even if there is an infinitely low chance her friends are told about the time loop, it isn’t zero and thus it will happen (it’s not a matter of if, but when).

Hey in case jello wasn't explicit enough about it... this game is really, really good. If you are a fan of Mother, omori or any game with really charming characters and existential dread, this is the game for you. And if you aren't a fan of any of these, still play it, it's worth it and has much more content than a game should have for its price.

The creator of the trapped trilogy named the character after the founder of armor games which is the company that published in stars and time which is why his name is in the credits
The editing in this video is really good, especially at the end. It really captures Sif’s feelings of insanity with how fast it goes from hard moment to hard moment. And then when the faces of their friends and their voices calling their name with a bunch of loops happening. And the music. It really makes a point, and it sticks. It feels kind of like a movie trailer. I haven’t played this game, but I feel like it’d be a game that leaves me with a really deep feeling in my chest that I can’t describe. this has the meta-narrative vibe that is almost like undertale, but the character you play as actually has a voice. i also like how you “choose” what the character says for dialogue which adds to the meta side of the game. so it’s like undertale but better

Playing the game after watching the stream, I decided to always loop back to the town, and the knowledge that I can take my time meant I could interact with every little thing. Seeing Bonnie blow up at you during the second snack time, hit really hard. This game toys with your emotions, and I love each and every minute.
The best praise i could give this game to a newcomers is when the game finished, when jello said this is better than undertale everyone just unanimously agreed, i think even including chat. And if that isn't praise i don't know what is.
i'm going to be honest when it was talking about the picture capturing their friendship i thought it was alluding to how siffrin was starting to plan to freeze time, stop the loop at a point where they were happy, where everyone was happy, where they and everyone else could be frozen together, haven't seen the games end so this may be waffle but it sounds cool

They’re sooooo good at foreshadowing. My favorite bit is the rock trap being based on you feeling safe which is literally the premise of the game!! They always make the player feel safe and then everything goes wrong!!
@@aduckinlingeriei never felt safe while playing
5:17 The mental image of Siffrin slumped against the wall with a bloody nose just saying "It was!" is just HILARIOUS to me and I have no idea why.
I CAN'T BELIEVE when you zone out during Loop's tutorial about zoning out, they tell you "DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES I DID" AAAAAAHHHHHHH
As someone who’s played the game multiple times, that line shouldn’t show up for that long. It’s like this in the stream too, I have no idea why.
@@boiyado6717 It's because Jello just so happened to let go of the "Zone Out" button as it appeared.
@@Moonlit-Mayhem Loop isn't A previous time looper, Loop is Siffrin from another timeline, aka the prologue START AGAIN START AGAIN START AGAIN
Thanks!
I don’t know if I’m going to buy Slay the Princess, but because of this comment I went out and bought this game at least.
@@FaisLittleWhiteRavenOkay, I think will, thank you!

I have a friend who thought broccoli was spicy, and never considered that she might be allergic because she assumed she was just excessively white
no rose just tastes like that
@@JelloPlaysVideoGames Technically speaking you did say “it tastes stingy” so I can see where the misunderstanding came from

not for isat, no. as for it's prequel story start again...
@@Citrustheflareon hey now, they *do* get out!
Looks at you in a way only the Two Hats ending can explain

All the kudos in the world to Marissa Lenti, playing Siffrin in his playthrough. You all should buy the game of course (have it on switch) but honest to god Jello’s playthrough is worth the complete view because of how hard Lenti went. Thank you guys for introducing this to me.

So true, ive started watching the streams right after this because i wanted more! I do Recommend buying this game

Other games I’ve played like that are OMORI, Outer Wilds, and I Was a Teenage Exocolonist
God, this game is not only peak timeloop nihilism but somehow manages to evoke the hopelessness and loneliness of depression.
Honestly heartbreaking... and only $20? Fingers crossed it gets popular.
