This is a series I can't wait to see more for. The brief history of grass types was interesting and listening how to make a good design was fun and helpful.
that tumble weed pokemon is the cutest thing i've ever seen.. Really impressive that you could make the twisted twigs look cohesive and not jumbled or awkward. Also love the fluff and the cute little boots!
Ok but these designs are INCREDIBLE. I think these all four are my favourites from anything you have done. The small ones are cute, the monkey is derpy and loveable and the cowboy is so cool. I imagine its cry is whistling "du-di du-di duuu" like the music in cowboy films!
I like Marmascend, but I feel you missed out on an opportunity with its shiny form. If you gave it more fall-like colors (like light brown) it would look similar to a Golden Lion Tamarin; which are found in the same regions.
@@carimeslockdownedtree2654 this was very humorous indeed. I thank you for your highly valued contribution towards this section of comments for this video. I encourage you to create more comedic masterpieces such as these within the future.
SUCH AN INVENTIVE SERIES CONCEPT. Oh my goodness! I’m so incredibly excited for this, Ron! Watching your videos makes me fall in love with Pokémon again. Every time.
Great job, Ron! Definitely enjoy the designs you come up with but even more so is the amount of lore and thought you put into the Pokemon themselves that influence the art. Keep it up, and looking forward to seeing the fire type mons next!
Looking forward to more of these videos, and I'll try to use what I see for detailing my fakemon designs. Speaking of which, I recently updated one of my designs & I look forward to showing you once you start taking submissions again.
Marmini and Marmascend looks straight like a great counterpart to Grookey. I'd love to choose him as my grass starter pokemon. Really great idea with tumbleweed. I've never thought how amazing you could turn a bunch of dead branches to a stunning cowboy pokemon
Your marmoset designs were so amazing! And parental bond is a cool ability that really got swept to the wayside so I'm happy to see it getting some love here.
I remember the feeling of excitement I had when I watched your very first "creating Pokémon" video, and this one is giving me the same feeling two times over! I can't wait to see more of this awesome new series.
Phantumble is a good design, looks the most like an og pokemon to me. also this practice you are doing isn't just good for making pokemon, it'll help you figure out how creature design is done for any specific series, how to recognize themes and such, so videos like this are even be helpful for people who don't just want to draw pokemon
I love phantumble. I think that design really embodies the goal of a non-animal pokemon. It is simple but completely brings the tumbleweed to life. Great video!!
Great video! I know this video is more about the visual design but i also loved all the Pokedex bits you included. I *especially* love the whistle that the wind creates while going through Phantwist's body, this is just such a genius nod to the iconic whisle that can be heard in cowboy movies!
Ron never runs out of amazing new video ideas! Even when I'm a little unsure if it will appeal to me, it's always a thoroughly enjoyable and interesting watch
I love this type design history segment! And also Marmini and Marmoscend are so cute. I also find it funny how I had concepts for regional forms of Tangela and Tangrowth that are a tumbleweed and a mud-slinging gunslinger guy, and that's Phantumble and Phantwist XD
Wow, you outdid yourself with this one!!! Loved the designs themselves as well as how you walked us through your design process. And the “whistle” effect you added in about the tumbleweed evo??? A+++
This is bloody excellent. I can already imagine a short of a phantumble trying to get something like a bunch of berries from a tree or market, but continuing to fail because it keeps getting pushed a around by the wind. Excellent work as always TG7!
These are awesome! You feel like a real Pokemon professor with some of your videos! Also, the whistle that runs through Phantwist is such a smart touch!
I've been wanting to put together my own fakemon region, but couldn't quite find super helpful tips on designing each type! Thank you so much for this series, can't wait to see more!!
That was great. My own artistic ability is limited to stick figures, but I love seeing someone who is really good at it do their thing. I would love to see all of the types
Was looking forward to this video since it got announced, as I have started to design a grass tiger starter for my region. Very excited for the rest of the videos in this series!
I imagine water types will be a lot to cover and I am wondering how types like steel and dark will be covered (they were introduced in Gen 2), but fairy will be interesting since it is the newest type and past Gen Pokemon are retyped as fairy
WOW! That analysis on the designs through each generation blew my socks off!!! Super well presented! Never thought such patterns could be found! I'd love to see you tackle other typings like that! really cool stuff!
A continuation of this series focused around something other than types, like starters, legendaries, or early-route bugs would be really interesting, I think.
I love this - not only have you been able to point out what I was missing in my fakemon art, but you've inspired ideas for a story we are writing and even more fakemon to be born 😍 Thank you!
You gotta do a video on naming fakemon! Your naming is top tier and I can tell there is some consideration to avoid predictictability or over complications
I've tried making fake Pokémon before, but they looked just bland and the evolutions didn't really change but after applying this information and inspiration to my raptor grass starter I think it turned out great, and I'm very proud of him! cant wait for this series to continue.
So amazing to see your art journey Ron, mostly saw your art with music videos and comments on channels like insaneintherainmusic, glad you did the Moxiewe art collab and to see more of your own art content, thanks for the tips and epic designs
Really like this series!! And there's opportunity to show different aspects with different types, such as using one type to demonstrate how middle stages draw links between the base and final. Great content as usual, Ron. ☺️👍
For me, tumbleweed was the perfect option for the first Grass/Fire Pokémon. First reason is they belong to desert, and desert is hot. And second, I don't know of this is true, but for me it makes sense that, with this extremely hot temperatures, they can spontaneously be caught on fire, and I already see a tumbleweed Pokémon slowly burning
I really want a cedar waxing based Pokémon as they are one of my favorite birds. In many pictures you see them eating these red berries as unlike like a lot of birds they could exclusively live off fruit. They are also known as one of the friendliest flock birds and they have been seen a passing berries to each other. Maybe a grass flying type as they can fly and their love for berries for grass. And maybe they would evolve because of high friendship as they seem more friendly towards each other at least than most birds. Maybe they could have a ability where they heal more from their held berry. Just a idea. I'm not sure how it would look as I'm bad at drawing
As someone with no drawing experience but ambition enough to try and draw a whole region of pokemon, I'm very excited for this even if I don't use all of the advice in favor of what i like. After all, it's a passion project for me alone. My favorite grass type idea (that I've come up with) is a snap dragon. A grass type starter that starts a beautiful flower reptile and grows into a less vibrant, bone faced grass/dragon or ghost type akin to how snap dragons look when they rot.
I LOVE the detailed analysis of the types designs across the generations. I am very excited to see this series continue.

The growth of art for marmoscend makes me so thrilled, it’s been such a treat to see your art evolve
Its even more satisfying going through the playlist of art videos and seeing the Rons style gradually get to where it is now :)
This is a series I can't wait to see more for. The brief history of grass types was interesting and listening how to make a good design was fun and helpful.
About that.
Well that aged horribly...
Its iritating that it underpeformed
Gosh why did this age like milk this video was SO well made
Yes im very sad
that tumble weed pokemon is the cutest thing i've ever seen.. Really impressive that you could make the twisted twigs look cohesive and not jumbled or awkward. Also love the fluff and the cute little boots!
the tumbleweed pokémon is wow
The way you made a tumbleweed pokémon before Scarlet/Violet...and it has the same typing wow. Yours is a lot better imo
Enjoyed the intro explaining all the grass types from each region and I'm in love with Phantumble
Ok but these designs are INCREDIBLE. I think these all four are my favourites from anything you have done. The small ones are cute, the monkey is derpy and loveable and the cowboy is so cool. I imagine its cry is whistling "du-di du-di duuu" like the music in cowboy films!

SUCH AN INVENTIVE SERIES CONCEPT. Oh my goodness! I’m so incredibly excited for this, Ron! Watching your videos makes me fall in love with Pokémon again. Every time.
I have never been more depressed to see a UA-cam series not take off
Phantwist is fantastic. The info about the whistle when it enters towns was so well done too
Great job, Ron! Definitely enjoy the designs you come up with but even more so is the amount of lore and thought you put into the Pokemon themselves that influence the art. Keep it up, and looking forward to seeing the fire type mons next!
If we're doing all 18 types, I'm so excited. The evolution of all types over the years is so interesting to see.
Please continue this series it was SO helpful !!!
Due to the top 20 pokemon video am hoping more people come back to this to revive this series
Looking forward to more of these videos, and I'll try to use what I see for detailing my fakemon designs. Speaking of which, I recently updated one of my designs & I look forward to showing you once you start taking submissions again.

I love this! The idea of going describing a type’s design history and then applying them is great. I hope you do every type.

Phantwist is really cool, I must admit. The detail of the wind forming a wistle, inspired by a wind howling through a forst is such a great idea!
The detailed breakdown of the design choices got me living rn
Love to see it and hear it, thanks for the video!
PLEASE REVIVE THIS SERIES. IT'S GOT SO MUCH POTENTIAL.
Wow, you outdid yourself with this one!!! Loved the designs themselves as well as how you walked us through your design process. And the “whistle” effect you added in about the tumbleweed evo??? A+++
It would be neat to hear you talk about how you go about making the shiny forms for your creations!
This is bloody excellent. I can already imagine a short of a phantumble trying to get something like a bunch of berries from a tree or market, but continuing to fail because it keeps getting pushed a around by the wind. Excellent work as always TG7!
This dude predicted that we were getting a ghost type tumble weed.
These are awesome! You feel like a real Pokemon professor with some of your videos!
Also, the whistle that runs through Phantwist is such a smart touch!
Can’t wait to see more of these. Keep up the excellent work Ron!
I really liked the analysis of how design conventions shifted!
Please consider a Part 2 and even more, that's exactly what i am looking for
I like that Phantumble has some designs reminiscent of Tangela but still a unique pokemon by itself
I've been wanting to put together my own fakemon region, but couldn't quite find super helpful tips on designing each type! Thank you so much for this series, can't wait to see more!!
Genuinely a great video! Great analysis and designs
