  • Nicola and I head off for a relexing break to the Isle of Lismore. We catch the ferry from Oban to Achnacroish on Lismore. We stay at our friend's cottage for 2 days. During our stay we explore the island and visit Tirefour Castle, Castle Coeffin, the museum, cafe and a disued Quarry. We then catch the Port Appin ferry for a meal and drinks at the Peir House Hotel.

    Great film Robin! I found Port Appin by mistake years ago when i was out on a drive with my Dad. An amazing out of the way place just to sit and daydream. This was well before my Munro Bagging days, So i didnt really know about these wee out of the way places. Lismore is a bit of a surprise, I thought it was just an isle with nothing much on it. Went to the forest just above Crinnan overlooking Jura. Not bad for a first one lol. We were in pods in Glen Nevis for a few days then a got out for a few walks. She'd never been to the west side of Scotland before so thought this was the best place to start. She did the Ben to be fair, not a serious walker and did Brill. All great fun isn’t it. I’m a bit geeky myself. Especially with music production but I find that filming takes a lot away from the actual walking experience. These days I’d much rather get on with the walk and take a few phone snaps to document the day out and present them to friends and family on Facebook. I have some great photography gear but I find it just too cumbersome to carry, set up and use. The two hobbies don’t go well together to be honest. People do tend to notice when I’ve used the dslr though so I really must start using it.

    • @WalkWithWallace
      @WalkWithWallace  5 років тому

      @@smujiodome it's the one reason why I will most likely not get a drone. I feel personally I've struck the right balance where the filming doesn't intrude on my own personal experience, I fear a drone would be too much hassle. The GoPro I purchased in November was a worthwhile investment though.
      DSLR's are so bulky, you can still get really nice shots with a phone though, just lack a bit of depth at times and useless for wildlife. 🤔

    • @smujiodome
      @smujiodome 5 років тому +1

      Walk With Wallace 👣 I’ve yet to see past the novelty of drone footage to be honest. It adds another 10% for me. Nothing more and of course they can be over used. I think you have it just about right as you are. Perhaps you might find satisfaction in getting more slick than getting more technical. The old “less is more” thing.

    • @WalkWithWallace
      @WalkWithWallace  5 років тому

      @@smujiodome if used right, they produce beautiful footage. Plenty UA-camrs use them well, but it's not additional weight I'd want to carry, like on our Fisherfield trip a few weeks ago.
