  • A day trip to the Trossachs for a hill walk up Ben Venue with my partner Nicola. The weather was sunny with a slight chill in the wind, it clouded over a bit towards the afternoon. Ben Venue is in an isolated position, and offers grand views from the summit.

That's decent going, it's a cracking hill this one. I've took a wee bit of stick for that Aonach Eagach video but it was good at the time. 😁 👍🏻

Haha, I could imagine that bit being a midge infested point, waiting for walkers to slow down to get around the bog. 😁

Enjoyed this one. I've climbed BV several times. Numerous people make the mistake of thinking the trig point is the summit, when the actual summit is to the west and 2 metres higher.

That looked a canny day mind, real Spring day and very quite as well, nothing worst than wind up the Trossachs …...I always have factor 50 in my bag at the first sight of sun its on as well. Stunning views from the summit and brilliant camping spot on the minor summit (actual summit). That was a great walk out, cheers Alan

Watched this again today and just remembered coming back down and when crossing the boggy area there was a group of walkers on the steep section below filling there bottles, told them to dump it and fill up nearer the top. That boggy section had an Oily sheen on it.
Walked back down chatting to an American park ranger from Texas( big bend park) who was over for three months, she said it's almost impossible to walk anywhere outside of national parks. We don't appreciate how lucky we are here.

@@alistairthow1384 the oily sheen would be peat I think? Last resort stuff though.
We are really lucky and when this is all over we'll have it again. Can't wait.

I did this twice in one week not long ago. First attempt was scuppered by howling wind & rain & the second featured an amazing sunset/sunrise & cloud inversion :) Not easy with a 65l Rucksack full of stupidly heavy gear! 😂

I’ve since focused on reducing my weight & taking only the gear I need, so whilst I still have a 65l in such situations - it’s about half the weight now! 😂

    • @WalkWithWallace

@@outlawedlandscapes aye even the vlogging gear can creep up in weight. I've got my gear dialled in now. Can't get any lighter without spending silly money.

@@WalkWithWallace Definitely. It’s a wee bit of a learning curve! I haven’t gone daft with equipment, but invested in semi-decent/lightweight stuff.
