THANK YOU THANK YOU! You are the ONLY guy demonstrating what I wanted to know about this pedal, which is: can you record two or three COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT tracks and sequence them in live performance. I am at a loss to understand how nobody else even talks about this since the typical song REQUIRES this! There is only one thing here that I am unclear about, which is the fact that you had to associate all these parameters with a particular memory location. It appears that you used the memory location (61) only to store the pedal behavior, and that the RC-300 did NOT require you to record anything into that memory location in order to use them, i.e. it appeared to me that you could have done this all totally live without having stored any recorded music into memory at all. Is that correct?
Yes, you can preprogram parameters on a say 61, and they wont change if saved. So you can revisit 61 anytime and record from scratch or save some basic tracks like I did, basically I laid down 3 parts of a songs bass tracks. Then I play and even do more layers but I dont save the additions, so when I come back to the 61 it's just the bass tracks.
@@deanwolfechannel Just one more question before I go out and buy one (and stop bothering you). It'd be great if this unit could also replace my multi-efx box, which I use to switch instantly between two sounds: [1] reverb and [2] reverb + delay. I use the reverb as my default sound, including when recording loops, and reverb+delay for my "solos" and melodies (which I do not loop). On my RC-30, the efx can be applied only to the patches being played back, but not to the live played-thru sound. With the RC-300 I'd want to have [1] a default reverb sound used for the played-thru signal and also as a default effect on all looped tracks, and [2] a ping-pong delay that is added to the reverb and applied ONLY to the played-thru signal (never to a looped track), and even then only on demand. I realize this is asking a lot, but can the RC300 do this?
@@deanwolfechannel Looking at the owner's manual (heaven forbid!), it seems that I could set up the LOOP FX button to apply just to the INPUT. On this option's description it says that the effect gets recorded onto the tracks, so if I am doing everything totally live then all my looped tracks would get the same reverb that is being applied to my live signal, so I would not want to re-apply the reverb to any track (since the reverb is already recorded onto the track). Then when playing the track back, I would hear the reverb on the track from when I recorded it, and reverb would also be applied to my live playing that I am doing over the track. That's exactly what I want. Now for the solo FX. The manual says that the "track 3" pedals can be reassigned to select the effect being applied (rather than to handle a third track). Or maybe I can use an external FS6 footswitch pair to do this without sacrificing track 3? So then when soloing over a played-back track, I would select a reverb + delay effect combo to be applied ONLY to my solo (can multiple FX be specified?). Is this possible?

Great video! I have a question. I currently have the RC-30 but am hoping to upgrade to the 300 soon, for the very reason that it has the ability to transition between verse/chorus. But before I purchase this item I must understand some things more clearly. When performing live, how do you lay out each track in realtime? Do you have to perform each instrumental section (verse, chorus, bridge) separately before the song properly begins and you start singing? Do you have to lay down each backing track section before actually performing the song sequentially? Or can each section be played in realtime? I'm really stuck on this. Thank you! Also one more thing: Would if I have say a prechorus & chorus that has 2 different rhythm & bass arrangements? How can I get this to program & transition smoothly?
Thanks, the boomerang phrase 3 sampler is comparable to the boss rc300, I have both and recommend you compare (I’ll make that video soon), but let me tackle your question re the rc300: to lay out tracks real-time is easy, basically click loop 1, do it, click loop 2, perform, then 3, perform then close 3 by clicking it again or hitting 1 or 2 and that closes it then you are playing back loops and playing along with your tracks. Now you could just sing along the entire time while you record you loops, so there’s no sense of the audience waiting for you to lay down the tracks. OR you can record them in advance , up to 100 in fact, and just turn on and play along. Generally the rhythm has to be consistent throughout each individual song, though there are tricks which I should also tackle in a vid, thanks for giving me ideas of my upcoming videos!
@@deanwolfechannelThank you so much! And thanks for the suggestion. I will check out the Boomerang Phase 3 as well. But you see the I'm trying to find a better setup for playing my original music live. The thing is one of my song's is played quietly on the piano during the verses but once the prechorus comes in, the bass & drums kicks in at that moment as I'm already singing, leading into the chorus where it slightly changes. I wrote this using my Boss RC-30 however because of the arrangement of the song, it wasn't compatible to loop so I literally recorded the whole song through then added the bass & drum once the whole 2.5 minute song was recorded into the machine haha. I know there must be easier ways. I would like to figure out how a song like that can be done in realtime. Like I said, when the prechorus comes in, the bass & drum sneaks in as I'm singing. Any ideas on how I can make this work? Your advice is very helpful. Thank you.
Also on a sidenote, I looked into the Boomerang. I'm not too familiar with their products but it seems great! I am wondering though if this is compatible with the Boss RC-30? And since you say the Boomerang is comparable to the RC-300 , could I just get the Boomerang instead of the 300? Which would you say is best? Thank you.
@@violetflame5290 they are both good. The boomerang doesn't store anything away, whereas the rc300 has 99 programmable memories. The boom has very small footprint. The rc has drums on it. But I scratch and tap my acoustic to create a percussion loop and can play along with it on the boomerang. Gotta make a video about it asap
@@deanwolfechannelIs it possible I can use the Boomerang with my Boss RC-30 and connect them somehow? Unfortunately I'm on a budget so I'm going to have to choose one or the other for now. If I could get the Boomerang and have it work with my Boss RC-30 that would be lovely.
well it WAS great, but it was bad news for me. haha I just bought the rc30. and have discovered it can't do the whole verse-chorus-bridge thing. unless you know some ins and outs on that model? I imagine you probably started with that one or something smaller and then upgraded later to have the features you use now? anyway, you did a great job of showing how to use this unit. thanks for taking the time!
Thanks for taking the time to comment. RC 30 is a great unit though it can't do serial, just parallel playback. But you could for example, do a rhythm on track 1, a verse on 2, then drop 2 and play chorus with the rhythm- that kind of thing. I'll keep looking into it and post anything else i find out.
I'm curious too about what I can do with the rc 30 (I too have just bought that), so I hope there will be a video like this one for that model too :) all I know is that you can add a separate pedal that allows you to switch track, but I don't know if that could work live
@@deanwolfechannel From what I found online and on the manual both the Boss FS-5U and the FS-6 could be used with RC-30, do you happen to own one of them?
Thanks for the video, it was very helpful!! Have you ever had a problem where your volume of your pre-recorded loops. The first time I used my rc-300 live, during my first song, I hit track one to start my loop and the volume was really loud (it’s hard to describe how loud it was, but It scared the people in the restaurant (and me), the max is 200, but it came out my PA probably at as 1000 level). I sound checked my PA, but didn’t think to sound check my loops. Once I figured out the problem, I had to set the volume on my tracks to a level of 4. Now, every time I use it live, I always seem to have a problem with the volume from my tracks. Also, sometimes I get a “Too busy” message. It’s seems the more in depth I get, the more likely that happens. Any help is appreciated, thanks
Great video! Very easy to follow! I read through a few comments on the video and you mentioned that you own a RC-30 as well. I was just wondering if the RC-30 is able to queue tracks as well. (Just the verse & chorus). I’m looking for a pedal that can fit on my pedalboard and i have just enough space to put the RC-30 in my board. I know that the Xvive Duet Looper is able to record both verse and chorus but there is not a save bank or a drum machine so it’s not really useful when playing live. Please let me know the question about the RC-30 when you can. Happy Holidays!
Sadly you cant do verse chorus per se on an rc30, the two tracks do not play in series, but I've seen it used verse/chorus with a song in a sneaky way of composing a song and using undo/redo. I'll put a link here asap.
Any idea why my rc300 when my first track has 8 bars, my second has 10 bars when I press track 1 after playing track 2 my rc 300 want change back to track 2 until 10 bars have played, leaving me with nothing for 2 bars on track 1! Am I doing something wrong?
Hey dean, Wondering if it is possible to apply different effects to different tracks. Can I record track one with distortion, then play track two with delay? If so, how would I go about doing that? Thanks!
I want to be able to use the boss ms3 to slave to boss rc300. I'm using the fs5u to tap in to the ms3 then wanting to send a midi out to the rc300. I've tried but I'm sure it's possible? Any tips would be great man. Thanks for the content
@@deanwolfechannel Heya... that's great! I'm trying my damndest to get to a blank memory slot to start a whole new song.... Brilliant Dean!! and I Subbed You... Please answer this Q: Once you’ve setup and identified your 3 sections, can you ‘add to’ them? Meaning - can you overdub a guitar part onto the verse, then a different guitar part onto the Chorus and Bridge etc? Or maybe just ‘stack’ some vocal harmonies onto the Chorus (so they only appear there). Please reply - I’d love to know this... 😊. Ttfn, Ukulele Bobby, UK. 🌸 ( o)==:: 🌺
Ck out pt 2 I get into that. You can layer on top and keep it so it's there whenever you return to the patch, or layer and dont save it so your basic tracks never go away unless you erase it. Any questions dont hesitate to ask!
Yes, that's what I focussed on for this unit (creating backing tracks to play with solo live- did a few shows with it only). I moved toward the Boomerang looper for solo live work and it's my preferred set up at the moment... I sold the RC300 a while ago but if I can would buy a used one again if only for doing demo videos for UA-cam and as people appreciate them!
It may be an arbitary distinction, but while I love seeing someone with the technical prowess to do live looping, if I see an artist or band playing with backing tracks it makes me want to leave. It feels like watching karaoke with a guitar. I may be biased because my bread and butter is playing keys, and keyboard parts are usually the first to be swapped for backing tracks. @@deanwolfechannel
There is a setting you can toggle between immediate and loop end. But it means you have to be precise when switching between loops as in not interrupting the flow of the beat.
@@its_minhle Yes, with the BOSS RC-30 Loop Station, you can record a verse on one channel and a chorus on the second, then switch back and forth between them. The RC-30 has two independent stereo tracks that you can control separately, allowing you to assign a verse to one track and a chorus to another. You can then use the Track Select footswitch to toggle between the two tracks as needed during your performance. This feature is great for live looping, letting you build and control different song sections easily (courtesy of ChatGPT)
Is there a way I could get track two to play at the end of the track one loop, but keep track one playing rather than having it stop when track two starts? Hope this makes sense.
I'm getting a few second delay on loop 2 and 3 after I put in there setting changes. I laid down a loop in one and I stepped on two, it get a ready and than I come in on time when I play back it only records half. Why is that? When I switch to an empty memory (back to normal) my timing is back on.
It's been a while... think it allows each loop to have a unique length. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to have verse and chorus have a different amount of bars for example. When I get time I will use this pedal again and make more videos.
@@deanwolfechannel Thanks for replying :) Is there a way to have tracks 1 and 2 be a verse and chorus respectively, and then track 3 to link with the timing of track 2 or the chorus?
It seems like everyone else who makes reviews of the rc-300 uses the three tracks to overdub three layers over a simple loop. Why don't the majority of users understand how to use this pedal for its intended capabilities?
Thanks for the tips but couldn't you just use the simpler RC-30 and pre-record the entire bass part on one track? Seems you are using a Ferrari to do the job of a VW. It seems the real use of the 300 is for live looping.

Really bad way to teach how to program. You just go "do this, then do that, then do this ...." with no explanation as to what the settings mean or how you went about planning the settings to create a song. Much better to start with the song, explain how you break it down into parts, and then explain how you translate those parts to RC-300 tracks and settings, all the while relating how RC-300 settings are impacting the musical goals of your song design.

I would like to do such a video but will have to find out about which pedal switch to get....
@@deanwolfechannel From what I found online and on the manual both the Boss FS-5U and the FS-6 could be used with RC-30, do you happen to own one of them?
@@alexandrosgoulas sold the double pedal long ago, have to buy again
Great stuff....!!...Just bought one of these loopers and tutorials like this help so much...Thank you..:-)
You're welcome, enjoy, its vast with possibilities
is there a way to switch memory bank without shutting music off
No
Thanks for the video, it was very helpful!! Any help is appreciated, thanks

nice job
Thanks!
Cool! Thank you.
happy looping! Liked your Stones looper video!
Many thanks... why didn't Boss explain it like that????
At least they make their products to super high specs. Manuals are another thing
Exactly what I needed thanks
Wuhuu, applaus applaus!! :)

Dean Wolfe thanks Dean!
Dean Wolfe I ended up purchasing the RC-300 so I look forward watching your future videos on the pedal 👍
OH MY GOD I think you've just changed my life!
Cool!
Any idea why my rc300 when my first track has 8 bars, my second has 10 bars when I press track 1 after playing track 2 my rc 300 want change back to track 2 until 10 bars have played, leaving me with nothing for 2 bars on track 1! Am I doing something wrong?
This was very useful TYVM!!
Grateful to hear, thanks
Thank you that was great and helpful
Exactly the video I was looking for. Well done :)
Cool, glad to be of any support..
Hey dean, Wondering if it is possible to apply different effects to different tracks. Can I record track one with distortion, then play track two with delay? If so, how would I go about doing that?
Thanks!
Join the Facebook rc300 group and ask. It's a tremendous resource.
Great video! Do those settings only apply to the one song or the entire looper settings?
Can be set for just one song or all 99 memories
extremely helpful....thank you so much
Great, glad to hear
hi awsome work is any one having the problem that if you dont use the drum rthem it doesnt shut off on time it likes lag
I want to be able to use the boss ms3 to slave to boss rc300. I'm using the fs5u to tap in to the ms3 then wanting to send a midi out to the rc300. I've tried but I'm sure it's possible? Any tips would be great man. Thanks for the content

Not possible. The RC-300 can onlyl be used as a master midi device.
awesome looper, i just wished they'd put a drum fill option between verse and chorus.. and also drums foe verse and chorus can be different..
Hopefully they are working on a successor model with more bells and whistles
Great Video! I haven't gone through what you've got quite yet but I'm looking for some wiring/hookup to PA type into and tips if you've got any.
I'll put a time stamp link here when I get the chance. It's a chart but you need to freeze the video to study it.

@@deanwolfechannel Heya... that's great!
I'm trying my damndest to get to a blank memory slot to start a whole new song.... I see videos of people starting off on whichever memory bank they have selected, then merely using the memory scroll knob to select a different bank.... mine isn't doing that! I've managed to back up my #1 channel onto channel #2, but I simply cannot manage to just scroll over and get started on a fresh bank.... any ideas ?? Thanks so much, Dean.
Thanks, that was bad ass BTW!!!!!!
Thanks Ken
That was so hopeful!!!
Thankyou
I was hoping you would talk about how to use this in a live setting. This just looks like you're making prerecorded backing tracks.
Is there a way to que up the next track in the middle so it'll play after a bar instead what looks like until the end ? Thanks
There is a setting you can toggle between immediate and loop end. But it means you have to be precise when switching between loops as in not interrupting the flow of the beat.
very informative!! nice video!
HI Dean, would this be possible with the RC 30?
verse and chorus, yes. Just 2.
@@deanwolfechannel so I can loop 2 different chord progressions?
@@its_minhle Yes, with the BOSS RC-30 Loop Station, you can record a verse on one channel and a chorus on the second, then switch back and forth between them. The RC-30 has two independent stereo tracks that you can control separately, allowing you to assign a verse to one track and a chorus to another. You can then use the Track Select footswitch to toggle between the two tracks as needed during your performance.
This feature is great for live looping, letting you build and control different song sections easily (courtesy of ChatGPT)
If you wanted to, could you record the base part for the entire song in a single loop? Thanks.
yes for sure
Is there a way I could get track two to play at the end of the track one loop, but keep track one playing rather than having it stop when track two starts? Hope this makes sense.
Yes. As long as it's not in series mode. In parallel that is normal
I'm getting a few second delay on loop 2 and 3 after I put in there setting changes. I laid down a loop in one and I stepped on two, it get a ready and than I come in on time when I play back it only records half.
Why is that? When I switch to an empty memory (back to normal) my timing is back on.

You are welcome!
At 2:54. What is the function of loop sync?
It's been a while... think it allows each loop to have a unique length. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to have verse and chorus have a different amount of bars for example. When I get time I will use this pedal again and make more videos.
What if I want track 1 to be verse, track 2 to be chorus, and track 3 to be able to loop to whichever track I want? Is that possible?
Not clear on the question....restate
@@deanwolfechannel Thanks for replying :) Is there a way to have tracks 1 and 2 be a verse and chorus respectively, and then track 3 to link with the timing of track 2 or the chorus?
You mean two tracks playing simultaneously?
It seems like everyone else who makes reviews of the rc-300 uses the three tracks to overdub three layers over a simple loop. Why don't the majority of users understand how to use this pedal for its intended capabilities?
Good point
hi there. could you have changed the drum pattern between tracks too?
You can program different drum patterns between songs, but not between individual tracks within one song.
Thank you for the reply
Thanks for the tips but couldn't you just use the simpler RC-30 and pre-record the entire bass part on one track? Seems you are using a Ferrari to do the job of a VW. It seems the real use of the 300 is for live looping.
should add the drums
Why can’t you just record the whole bass take on one track ?
Of course you can but zero flexibility.
I'd have watched the whole video if you hadn't wasted 48 seconds of my life w/ intros -&- jive.
thanks, time stamps pinned in comments section. Next time skip past the intros

Impressive video Dean. I have just dropped you an email on your gmail address. Looking forward to your reply. Thanks
