OMG!!!! I got a new Bose L1 Pro 8 sound system and am wanting to use my RC 300 with it. When I hooked it up on Friday at a local venue, the sound was completely muffled and I couldn't hear anything hardly at all. It threw me off completely for the whole night. So I've been googling what do to and how to fix it. I came across this video and didn't think it was the solution, but I thought... can't hurt. IT TOTALLY FIXED THE PROBLEM!!!! now all my loops are clear and crisp and I can eq and set the levels individually!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! (yes, I'm yelling with joy and gratefulness). I was so sad that I couldn't use the looper with the bose. I thought it was a setting on the speaker, but nope... the problem was having all 3 tracks going through the same output. This makes me so happy!!! I can actually use the looper now!!! I'm not great at it yet, but I have a small setlist that I can use it on. So excited!!! Thank you again... and many more times!!!
Dude... Because of this hurdle I haven't used my loopstation since I bought it 3 years ago. If the mix isn't crisp I don't enjoy performing. You've given me hope with this video!!! Thank you
Juts stumbed across your video, I've been using the RC-300 for years now live - carefully mixing the volume of every instrument every time for every gig and unless it's perfect it can sound like such a mess when it's all combined! Been searching for this answer for so long without having to get a mixer with an FX send and return so this is absolutely brilliant! Thankyou so much for taking the time to share this, I myself and it looks like many others are very appreciative! ☺
Great explanation indeed! Apparently sometimes it won't work but then it's because the system output settings of the tracks are set to main/sub and this overrules the local track settings. In the system settings it should be set to "memory" (go to these settings by pressing the system button and scrolling to the pages for tracks 1, 2 and 3).
I setup the RC-300 to do the same for drum practice with each track going to individual amplifiers. The challenge sometimes is to maintain timing. The RC-300 transmits MIDI clock data at all times. I configured an Arduino to receive the MIDI data and control a strip of LEDs to flash the 1/4 notes so that a visual "click" is provided when the start is activated.
Marc thanks again. Strange set I have is working a pure accident yet motivated by you. I won’t bore you with the strange hook up I have. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Thank you very much for this video. Very useful. I literally have just picked up an RC 300 cheap (80 quid) and I am a like playing musician so I have. Guitar. Piano. Bass. Violin. And clarinet. I’d recommend doing it the exact opposite - run this three cables into a mixer and you can mix each track perfectly - or into DI boxes that go to your DAW/house PA etc.
I've been looking at the headrush a lot. I'm not sold on going that route yet. I wish it didn't have the effects and was just a looper. Do you like it so far?
@@MarcAllredVideos it’s so different to the Boss but it’s really exciting to get my hands on some new tech. I think once I get my head round it then I will be able to be more creative with the new pedal. I will do some videos soon on it. Keep up the great work Marc!
Hey good video. Do you have any idea how to get the in built rhythm sounds to come out both left and right main out. When I use 1 lead in mono it could out but when I use the L and R out it only comes out the R. Weird? Any ideas man?
Hey there! Great video! Question for ya-I’m using a Roland SPD One Kick through track 2 to have just a simple backing beat while playing live. I followed the video but my audio out for track 2 is almost nothing. Track one is super loud so I’m a little confused. Not sure if this is something you’ve come across before. Thanks!
Great video!! One question. Why did u mute the input out? we need live signal too that might be played right.? Or u use an AB switch before looper so input is always going to the main mix. Can u help me understand the logic here please.
BOOM..ALAS I get it When setting this up one needs to do BOTH changes to outputs under each track and ALSO under the system settings...scrolling over to each track BOOM ! I now have full volume control of Rhythm and each track running outputs into 3 different places
Ok this is very useful buuuut is it possible to. On one track loop guitar/vocal and split that guitar/vocal to two outputs? ie so you can EQ the vocals separately to the guitar even though it’s been looped together? I’m pretty sure this is what my old Ditto did and I couldn’t work out how the hell it did it.
If you decide to 'mute' your input signal. How do you listen to your loops or signals prior to looping? I'm confused with that part. But everything else was seemed like solid info!
Hey man thanks sor much for this clear tutorial! I was really looking for an explanationa about it. I do have one question though about the live sigal: In 1:20-2:00 you explain about muting the live signal - why? That means that whenever I play without recording, I won't get any sound out - doesn't it? I want to be able to improvise freely over the loops that I record. Please clarify this part for me man, thanks!!
@@MarcAllredVideos Ok cool thanks. Also why did you mute the input out in the beginning? I know you explained in the video, but I don't get it? Sorry for the bombardment of questions. I am new to this stuff and I was thinking about getting an rc300 for fun as a hobby. I have an electric guitar. I was planning on getting a cajon for percussions and loop it with a mic. I can't sing so I was gonna do vocal melodies with guitar. For example, track one would be looped coming out of my guitar amp; track 2 would be looping the stomp box coming out of a pa, and track 3 would be either a guitar or percussion. Would all that be possible? I appreciate the help btw.
Great video and explanation. I have one question...do I attach a cable for each track (sub output left, right and main output left) to three separate channels on my board? Also, the third track will be the beatbuddy midi in so that I can use the drums there and loop the guitar for playing lead. Little complicated question but, I do need some advice. Thanks, OneManMusicBand, Gary
Hi Marc I was just wondering can I plug my rc300 in to my fender engine room lvl 5 power outlet? I was just wondering because I’ve look on the back of my rc300 and it say use boss pass adaptor only.
I don’t know the answer to that, but I’d recommend sticking with the boss adapter. I’ve used other power cables before and it caused my looper to shut off unexpectedly in the middle of my show.
If I am recording and using the RC300 as an audio interface to my computer (daw), the tracks will anyway be one mix, right? Unless they are router first to a second audio interface with individual audio outputs to the DAW. Unless I am getting something wrong. Thanks!
Hello. Can you help? I’ve followed your instructions exactly but when I plug into my RCF jmix8 I only get a signal from the main output. Nothing from the sub outputs.
Without seeing your gear and settings I can only guess. I would double check how you've set up the rc300 output settings to the subs first and then check your jmix settings (gain, volume, etc). I'd be down to video call and see if I can help trouble shoot it.
Hi Marc - Just getting started here - Can't figure out how to route my mike into the Boss RC 500 and then to my Alesis MultiMix - not hearing vocals nor it is registering on the main monitor - what am I missing?
Hi Marc, just wondering for help that i've been setup my rc 300 exp pedal to delay sound.. But all the track i record also turn to delay when i put down the exp pedal.. I just want delay when i'm playing instrument or doing vocal.. Not with the all tracks i record.. so is there any way to set up Thanks man..
Marc, that's a smart way, thank you! One question: is it essential to mute the input? I mean, wouldn't it be possible to route the input to main R, so to have it also on an individual channel?
Would muting the input mean the sound will cease? I don’t understand what that does
Рік тому
I think this should also work. On this way you have 4 individual channel routings (3 tracks with sub L & R + Main L and then your live signal on Main R). I‘ll try this setup to record live looping in logic - don’t see any reason why this shouldn’t work 👍🏻
Awesome video! Been stressing a bit about my routing situation. I understand the three separate outputs but it would be nice to see where those three output cables go. Will that only work for a PA system or recording studio with a multi track mixer? Wondering what I can do with a single amp at home. Peace and love 🙏🏽
Wow thank you for this very useful video. Two questions: do these routing settings apply to, say, memory #3 only or do they affect the whole system, in general? And when you set the input on MUTE, does it mean I can only hear the different sounds when they're recorded? I didn't get this part
I have been struggling with these things too. Maybe you don't have to pan the last one though since it's just coming out sub? Also why mute the input? Is it so you don't get different sounds when it starts looping? Isn't that weird when you play your parts? And can you not hear your signal when just playing along. I'm heartened and I feel I have learned something here but I'm missing some of the prices in my head
Thanks so much for your quick to the point explanations! Liked and subbed man. I have a question: Is there a way to make it so: ex: Track 1 only loops the mic input or inst input?
Thanks for the info dude !! Just had a couple of questions. Do you use balanced cables for the outputs of the boss ? Also if you put track 3 as a main left to 100% will it only come out on the left speaker ?
OK. I only picked up the RC300 last week. This is super confusing to me. I'm going into my pedal board, into my looper, and back to the desk for my solo shows. Do I need this? or is this more for people who have sound techs mixing their stuff?
@@MarcAllredVideos I don't think I was ready to go this in depth with it to be honest haha. I'm moving from the Ditto looper to the RC300 and I'm getting completely overwhelmed with everything. But your videos are really helping.
Hey i just got my first ever loop pedal for Christmas and I'm having problems trying to set it up and playing through my amp. If you can explain how to do this that would be amazing
Quick question here if you dont mind mark! I own boss rc 300 , boss gt10 , scarlett 4!4 , a small mixer! which way is the right way to route them? and tbh i have 0 guitar pedals! i know nothing about it. however id like to buy some reverb , delay and overdrive pedals! any recommendations? TIA
Would it be possible to still have the "overall stuff" on the main right for example? I'm using the rc 300 with a kemper and I would need to return the overall signal back to the kemper for its fx return. I don't know if this would work since I set all the tracks to a specific out with the output Jack's or am I missing something here?
This was a great lesson. Thankyou for that, though I am just researching loopers at this time. Are those three cords then being routed into a mixer/ mixing board. or going into your amp?
Hi! I have a question: Can you pan your microphone input hard left or hard right with the RC300 in order to assign one specific output to it? I can't seem to find out... Thanks!
I am scouring through the comments to see if this was already asked, but didn't see it: Why did you do the mute? That part confused me. Also, I have reassigned my FX button to become a Mic Mute on/off, could I reroute that Mic signal to a separate output as well?
do you know how to hear a audio input but not record that ? i have a drum machine e want to hear the beat but not record (i dont have a mixer yet and i have pluged my phones on the rc300 only, thanks!
It has to not run through the loop station. Whatever you have coming into the station will be looped. So you’d have to have the drum machine playing through your PA or DAW or something else.
Good question, but I've never worked with the usb port for my work flow. If I get into it, I'll let you know. My assumption is that it should work just the same.
Thanks Marc. Saw the additional video. Both very helpful. Is there a way to make the individual outputs global so that you don't have to program them on every single patch (1-99)? Thanks
Ooh, that's a good question. I've never looking into that myself so I don't have an answer for you. If you figure that out, hit me up and let me know what you find out👍🏻
Marc- 2 questions. Finally got around to trying this. It works but the problem is the "MUTE" doesn't seem to work after the initial setting. Also, is there a way to also assign the right of the main output to the built in drums of the rc300? So if I’m using say for ex- “Simple Beat 2” it too can have its own separate out? Thanks Man. Great info!!
Hi, this seems a good solution if you want to route individual tracks..But, I need to route three different inputs to three different outputs, is it possible without being tied to the tracks? I know for certain that the headrush looperboard allows this without one having to worry about which track is using. But I am reading a lot of complains about it, bugs, freezing, issues with software, price ecc.. please help!

Clever stuff! I've just upgraded to a Headrush but this is really helpful to understand the process still - thanks!
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! ♥️♥️♥️
Yeah man!
Hey good video. Do you have any idea how to get the in built rhythm sounds to come out both left and right main out. When I use 1 lead in mono it could out but when I use the L and R out it only comes out the R. Weird? Any ideas man?
Thanks for the interesting question. That's a new one for me. I'll see if I can't come up with an answer.
Great, but where is the output for the input when improvising live anove my loop tracks.
Thanks

Yessir!!
Thanks!
Haven’t seen that before. I’ll see what I can come up with.
Great video!! One question. Why did u mute the input out? we need live signal too that might be played right.? Or u use an AB switch before looper so input is always going to the main mix. Can u help me understand the logic here please.
BOOM..ALAS I get it
When setting this up one needs to do BOTH changes to outputs under each track and ALSO under the system settings...scrolling over to each track
BOOM !
I'm pretty sure this is what Mike Love and Bernhoft do, but I don't know how they do it😂🤣🤦♂️
Exactly what I needed !
Awesome!
Thank you I love you! 💚
If you decide to 'mute' your input signal. How do you listen to your loops or signals prior to looping? I'm confused with that part. But everything else was seemed like solid info!

Did you find out? If you keep the input out to main + sub, instead of mute, then you should be able to hear it right?
I have a question. How can you hear your live signal? You muted the signal at the beginning but you need to hear it as well. Or am I wrong? Thanks

Explained well!
Glad you liked it🙌🏻
Mark thanks! Quick Question do you have all three of those individual lines going into a mixer then out to amp? Or just straight to amp?
For my set up, I have them each going into individual channels of a PA mixer.
Hey man thanks sor much for this clear tutorial! I was really looking for an explanationa about it.
I do have one question though about the live sigal:
In 1:20-2:00 you explain about muting the live signal - why? That means that whenever I play without recording, I won't get any sound out - doesn't it?
I want to be able to improvise freely over the loops that I record.
Please clarify this part for me man, thanks!!

So can you have two different outputs of speakers running at the same time? Like a guitar amp and a pa speaker for the mic?
Absolutely. And you can even select which track will go to which speaker system.
@@eyeceeyooh yup that’s totally possible🤘🏻
Great video and explanation. I have one question...do I attach a cable for each track (sub output left, right and main output left) to three separate channels on my board? Also, the third track will be the beatbuddy midi in so that I can use the drums there and loop the guitar for playing lead. Little complicated question but, I do need some advice. Thanks, OneManMusicBand, Gary
Yes, each line goes to its own individual track on your board, PA, or even DI boxes.
@@MarcAllredVideos ok thanks Marc 👍 keep up the good work! 😃
If I am recording and using the RC300 as an audio interface to my computer (daw), the tracks will anyway be one mix, right? Unless they are router first to a second audio interface with individual audio outputs to the DAW. Unless I am getting something wrong. Thanks!
You're right👍🏻
Thank you!!
Welcomes!
Lets say you only have one amp to play thru at home..
What would you suggest then?
This. Is. Amazing..
Thank you man 🤝
Yes!!
Hi Marc - Just getting started here - Can't figure out how to route my mike into the Boss RC 500 and then to my Alesis MultiMix - not hearing vocals nor it is registering on the main monitor - what am I missing?
Make sure your mic volume knob is up is all I can think of without seeing a video or photo of your set up.
Yes, thank you so much!
Hi Marc, just wondering for help that i've been setup my rc 300 exp pedal to delay sound..
But all the track i record also turn to delay when i put down the exp pedal..
I just want delay when i'm playing instrument or doing vocal..
Not with the all tracks i record..
so is there any way to set up
Thanks man..
Marc, that's a smart way, thank you! One question: is it essential to mute the input? I mean, wouldn't it be possible to route the input to main R, so to have it also on an individual channel?
See if this new video helps. ua-cam.com/video/Pz_Pmmg5KMY/v-deo.html
Would muting the input mean the sound will cease? I don’t understand what that does
I think this should also work. On this way you have 4 individual channel routings (3 tracks with sub L & R + Main L and then your live signal on Main R). I‘ll try this setup to record live looping in logic - don’t see any reason why this shouldn’t work 👍🏻
I have this same thought, and wonder why it needs muting.
If you’re going to one input, this isn’t the set up for you. This is if you have a multiple channel mixer, PA, or DAW.
Wow thank you for this very useful video. Two questions: do these routing settings apply to, say, memory #3 only or do they affect the whole system, in general?
And when you set the input on MUTE, does it mean I can only hear the different sounds when they're recorded? I didn't get this part
Helpful!
🙌🏻
What happens if you are using the mic input as well as the guitar? Thanks!
Your mic will pick up any ambient sound with you loop.
I have a question:
Is there a way to make it so: ex: Track 1 only loops the mic input or inst input?
Unfortunately, no.
Thanks for the info dude !!
Just had a couple of questions. Do you use balanced cables for the outputs of the boss ?
Also if you put track 3 as a main left to 100% will it only come out on the left speaker ?
i have white noise whenever i play my guitar through my rc300. i have seen alot of folks online having the same problem. any suggestions?
Haven’t heard of that one before.
OK. I only picked up the RC300 last week. This is super confusing to me. I'm going into my pedal board, into my looper, and back to the desk for my solo shows. Do I need this? or is this more for people who have sound techs mixing their stuff?
It all depends on how/why you use it. If you check a bunch of my other videos I show how to use the pedal to loop full songs etc.
@@MarcAllredVideos I don't think I was ready to go this in depth with it to be honest haha. I'm moving from the Ditto looper to the RC300 and I'm getting completely overwhelmed with everything. But your videos are really helping.
@@maxhoornmusic yeah, I can see that being overwhelming. Take your time and geek out on individual features one at a time and you'll get there👍🏻
Hey i just got my first ever loop pedal for Christmas and I'm having problems trying to set it up and playing through my amp.
TIA
I’ll think of some ideas and get back.
Thx, great advice 👍
Hope it helps!
Is there away to assign inputs to specific outputs. Let’s say I want my xlr in to only go through the left sub out. Is that possible?
Ooh, that's a great question. I've never had to figure that one out. Let me know if you ever figure it out.
Hope you find the looper that best suits you! The outputs can go to whatever you want like a daw, mixer, amp, di boxes, etc.
Hi! I have a question: Can you pan your microphone input hard left or hard right with the RC300 in order to assign one specific output to it? I can't seem to find out... Thanks!
So where do you route the input signal of the guitar if it’s muted in the RC?
Finally answered this question in a video. Sorry it took so long. ua-cam.com/video/Pz_Pmmg5KMY/v-deo.html
I am scouring through the comments to see if this was already asked, but didn't see it:
Why did you do the mute? That part confused me.
Also, I have reassigned my FX button to become a Mic Mute on/off, could I reroute that Mic signal to a separate output as well?

@@MarcAllredVideos but I'm curious as to why you mute
@@geoffkmusic because the 300 doesn’t have enough output options to give you a three loop outputs as well as a live signal output
@@MarcAllredVideos Okay, right it only has the 3 outputs. But, what do you mean when you say "live signal output"?
Thanks bro..realy help me yo..
do you know how to hear a audio input but not record that ? i have a drum machine e want to hear the beat but not record (i dont have a mixer yet and i have pluged my phones on the rc300 only, thanks!
It has to not run through the loop station. Whatever you have coming into the station will be looped. So you’d have to have the drum machine playing through your PA or DAW or something else.
hi, can you record 3 tracks separately via usb?
I'd take a look at the brand new Boss RC-600.
@@MarcAllredVideos exactly man, I just discovered it. Thank you!
Actually I just received bad news from Roland. Also with the Rc600 the routing refers to tracks, not to inputs. Aja
Can someone tell me if there is the possibility of using the click completely separate from the audio signal when recording a loop?
I've been wondering that one too. I'd be nice to have a click, like in an ear monitor, to help record live.
Awesome!
