We Owen. A foundation repair company we’ve used close sell spray foam numerous times to seal basement walls now this is in conjunction with a full wall length rock bed drain system so you spray the foam on the outside wall and then installThen install at least 12 inches or more wide by total length of the height of the wall of a rock bed drain in this system has worked very very well in the expensive wet soul climate of East Texas

What do you suggest about expandable foam on metal roof easements? Should the ribs of the metal be plugged with foam? Or leave them open?

Interesting video. I'm in the process of building a new house. Foundation is getting poured in April and I was told by a insulation contractor that I could use closed cell spray foam on the exterior walls of the foundation in place of the black tar waterproofing. Would you recommend for or against this? Just curious. I'm leaning against it.. as ever foundation I've ever seen had the black tar waterproofing.

The purpose of spray foam is to insulate, not replace proper waterproofing. We always recommend doing both as they were intended.

I have an existing house, water comes in through an old chimney that was torn down. The people I hired want to use foam to fill in the chimney flue and cement it off. I’m kinda questioning it because water will just build up then eventually break through the wall correct?

It is not recommended. We recommend having those repairs done before adding spray foam to the roof deck.
