    If you think Tesla has quality control issues BYD is another realm.

    • @tjroelsma
      @tjroelsma 5 місяців тому +1

      Yes, but Tesla is proving time and again that they can't get their quality consistent. And even the "cheap" Model 3 still costs quite a lot of money and it consistently keeps lacking in quality. Now that was somewhat defendable when Tesla was pretty much the only game in town, but now there's serious competition. And I'm not talking about Chinese vehicles, but the much better Taiwanese, Japanese and European EV's from renowned manufacturers. Even if they aren't on par with Tesla's top models yet, they are certainly taking a chunk of the market away from Tesla. And that is very inconvenient for Tesla.

      this is a new phase of growth, you must understand that. think raptor engines where he fired most of the people because production was not up to standards . its amazing. your whole argument is based on a myth. talk about shooting yourself in the foot with that analysis. the competition has no compute. not a single "competition " has invested in compute. they are on the wrong boat. there is no way around compute. why are people so blind i dont get it. AI will rule and if its not obvious to you. i dont know what to say. here is one thing you can try. drive FSD version 12.3.6. just try it. and then see where the competition is . the world is on the verge of a paradigm shift and tesla is the only one breaking the finish line. THERE IS NO COMPETITION. every one else is running the wrong race. for better of for worse. AI is here and if you cant summon your car in a busy parking lot to pick you up, no one will buy your car. The biggest elephant in the room is the boss: Elon's unhinged - and half the population hates him; worse still, it's generally the half of the population which tends to favour EVs. (EVs will of course replace all cars in time, but that doesn't help Tesla in the short term.)
    Tesla's recent troubles pretty much began when Elon began spouting his unhinged reactionary political views, which grew over covid; and, after his own self-goal where he was forced to buy Twitter, Elon has become a distorted mutation of his former self (perhaps he was always this way, but just kept it to himself). In any event, he's killed the brand, and adding fuel to the fire with his seemingly daily chaotic episodes - this week's disastrous SuperCharger announcement being one such, especially prominent, example.
    All of which is to say, 'Tesla in trouble?' might be the understatement of the year; wouldn't surprise many if Telsa's troubles soon become terminal.

      Telsa has been in trouble many times for many different reasons. Tesla nearly went bankrupt twice early on.
      I don't think Tesla is in trouble right now, but the market is in a volatile state and Tesla is in a position of high risk. What Tesla is in the future is at stake, and if they misread the market they will be in trouble. The company either needs to focus on being a luxury brand, or they need to settle for being the ev for the lower to upper middle class. I don't know how quickly they'll be able to pivot but for the time being it seems like the smart choice is to not focus on the luxury market and instead focus on getting costs down. Luxury companies are catching up, and focusing their efforts there while it will have better margins doesn't get as much cashflow.

    What you save on with an EV and home charging you lose with expensive insurance, replacing tires more often, and not being able to get your car repaired at 3rd party repair places, meaning you have to pay $$$ to get them fixed at the dealership only. I put at least 150 miles on my 2017 Model S daily doing ride sharing, just to have it pay for itself, its insurance, an MCU2 upgrade, tires down the line when I need them, maybe a vinyl wrap, and also an excuse to get out of the house. At almost 100K miles it still drives smoother than any new gas car I've ever driven in spite of the avalanche of fear mongering out of my computer screen every day.
      So what kind of repairs are you talking about, exactly? The alternator? The transmission? Change the oil? Maybe the fuel injectors? Maybe the anti-freeze, right? Pinning ICE disadvantages/hurdles over EVs is proof you have no clue what you're talking about.
      "It will be another 50 years..."
      On my 15 mile commute to my day job, I see at least 5 Teslas and about 3 or 4 other EV brands, and this is the east coast (I can only imagine California).
      A 4door family sedan humiliated the entire gas industry. Not even multimillion $$ sports cars like the mighty Bugatti was spared. My Model S is just a tenth of a second slower than the Porsche Paul Walker killed himself in, and it's 7 years old.

      No. Model 2 has been cancelled. What Musk was talking about in his usual lying ways, was cheap cars of some other variety, such as "decontented" version of Model 3 for cheaper price. Musk at this point has no hope of competing with BYD for mass market. BYD already produce $10K mass market EV (seagull) as well as $20K EV (dolphin). These are not garbage cars, and they have shocked automotive professional in their quality and design. Just go by Musk's promises in past 10 years and see what's actually been delivered. I own a Tesla. I love the car. I'm not the biggest Elon fan though.
    I bought a used Tesla Model 3 and put 6k down and 8k in on trade. I assumed since I bought a 2 year old car I was safe from depreciation. I misread the market. That's on me. That being said, I love my car. I'm not super worried about being upside down on the car because I don't anticipate selling the car, in fact I am looking to buy a second one.
    The US ev market right now is just not great, it's either you get a Tesla an have a good priced vehicle with nice features and a reliable charging network, or you give up that and either overpay for the car (Ford) or get a subpar charging experience (chevy, subaru)
    The rest of the market WILL catch up in the next few years, and Tesla needs to adapt to that market, but that doesn't change today they're the best ev brand in the US. I wish the US wasn't so anti-china lately, as I'm very interested in a lot of what their manufactures have been up to.
    Note: these comments are for the general market and not the specialty or luxury market. That's a market I'm not apart of nor care to be apart of.

  • @ElMistroFeroz
    @ElMistroFeroz 5 місяців тому +1

    Wrong answer.
    The idea was to sell a cheap car, but without raising any flags with big OIL, so the plan was to create a high performance vehicle that wouldn't tap into the biggest market - the average user. From there they'd use the technology to catch the ICE industry with its pants down by creating affordable cars. Turned out they couldn't even use the technology for the cheaper cars, this is why everything they make after 2012 barely resembles the original roadster, so the only thing Elon got out of buying Tesla (then a shadow company) was an idea and of course, the name.
    But hey, this is the internet, and anyone with an ass crack can listen to some CNN/Fox/MSNBC, grab a mike and parrot the misinformation forward.

    Yes I see so many Tesla model 3/Y in my area, they have become toad clone cars. Most people will want something more special than a plain clone Tesla car. Also as with any high tech computer cars like Tesla, once it gets to be old, cost to upkeep and repairs to keep it on the road become prohibitive. No third party parts will be available for critical systems on old Tesla cars. On the other hand, most of gas cars in Cuba are 60 years old on average. These old simple gas cars can be kept running nearly forever with some ingenuity and cheap labor
