I watched this several times and as father, a teacher, and a Michigan grad, I'd like to make a couple of comments. First, as society (and college football rivalries) have become increasingly profane, this sweet young man serves as a wonderful example of what it should be and is a credit to his family...they should be very proud. "Geez, gosh darn it, oh my goodness, Michigan made a great play"....They worst (and justifiable) comment after the costly personal foul was when he called the player stupid ...that was it. Positive for his team, transparent with disappointment and lost without vitriol, and just a great example of a considerate, appreciative, and loving kid. Heartwarming....and humane.
As a Michigan fan, of course I'm elated with the outcome. You are absolutely right, we hate each other, but there is also a mutual respect between us. That Sainristil play is going to go down as one of the great plays in Michigan history and the history of this rivalry; it's just the definition of clutch and was such a back breaker and momentum arrestor. I know they still got 3, but they desperately needed 6 and the 2 pt conversion. That 5 point swing was huge. It's a play that will always show up on the highlight reels when they broadcast this game in the future. It won't be shown as much as Desmond's return (the most iconic play and play call in Michigan history) but we'll see it a lot. I was so happy to hear Mikey is returning for next year. Even though we're likely losing Turner and Green, our secondary is going to be a major strength with our new #2 DB Will Johnson and Sainristil holding down the nickel corner spot.

Being born in '84 and growing up in Ann Arbor, being in the stadium for Desmond's return, Woodson's return and going to the '98 Rose Bowl, I felt we'd forever own Ohio State. Wow did that change! I'm just glad we have two in a row (maybe three in a few weeks) and are another step towards exercising our Buckeyes demons from the past two decades.

If I didnt go I watched on TV, or listened to radio. And it is our turn, like you said. We might win 9 in a row. I used to live and die on football Saturdays. After kids born, 21 years of marriage, now divorced and other bad life stuff I dont live and die anymore, but still care. I still watch and do care, just not crazy anymore.

Michigan fan here. It’s always tough to lose in your own house, but hey, I attended almost every single Michigan home game in Ann Arbor from 2001 until 2019, so…I saw a few Ls. And not just to your guys. But keep the bigger picture in mind: OSU’s success in this rivalry since Tressel’s first year has been pretty close to perfect. You really couldn’t ask for more, as a Buckeye fan. But this is very good for the rivalry, to turn the tide, if only just a little bit. I’d love this to become a true 50/50 rivalry again. And we might be headed there.

Like others have said, respect the loyalty. I have been a Michigan fan my whole life. Been to so many games, wins and loses. Including loses to OSU. Living in the 9 straight loss era, it was rough. If I didnt go I watched on TV, or listened to radio. And it is our turn, like you said. We might win 9 in a row. I used to live and die on football Saturdays. After kids born, 21 years of marriage, now divorced and other bad life stuff I dont live and die anymore, but still care. I still watch and do care, just not crazy anymore.

I'm a Michigan fan, but I can relate to this dude. I prefer to watch the game alone just like you're doing. I just can't be around anyone that isn't invested as much emotionally as I am...It drives me crazy during big games like this one. I hate the team you root for, but I admire your passion.

I had been saying this all year tho, that Ohio state defense wasn't really any better, and they completely sold out for the run in the first half and got burned. Then the second half adjustments were just outstanding for Michigan and Ohio state didn't seem to make any?

Michigan fan here. It’s always tough to lose in your own house, but hey, I attended almost every single Michigan home game in Ann Arbor from 2001 until 2019, so…I saw a few Ls. And not just to your guys. But keep the bigger picture in mind: OSU’s success in this rivalry since Tressel’s first year has been pretty close to perfect. You really couldn’t ask for more, as a Buckeye fan. But this is very good for the rivalry, to turn the tide, if only just a little bit. I’d love this to become a true 50/50 rivalry again. And we might be headed there.
